Novotel Lille Centre Gares4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel is located on walking distance to gare Flandre (local station) and gare Lille Europe (international). Also a subway station is close by for longer distances, but this is not needed as all major center interests are also on walking distance. The room are spacious and the receptionist was very kind and took well care of our suitcases on the last day after check out while we were doing a 'last tour de ville'
It's hard to remain unbiased about this hotel, as my friend had valuables stolen from our room whilst we were out exploring the city (make sure you use your safe is my advice!). However this aside, the hotel really isn't up to scratch. I work in travel and I have had the pleasure of staying in many different levels and styles of hotel, and this definitely doesn't live up to a 4* hotel. It is more like an Ibis - it is clean, however amenities are very basic, and it hasn't got any personality whatsoever. The sofa bed was pretty uncomfortable too. We had a cocktail from the bar on arrival and mine was ridiculously sweet, and my friends' mojito was undrinkable. I did like the location of the hotel - very easy to get around the city, but I wouldn't stay here again, and it has changed my opinion of the Novotel brand on the whole.
A great lobby and service driven team. The ground floor with lobby restaurant and bar is a relaxed place to be ... modern contemporary a nice place to hang out! A place which I will definitely book again at my next visit.
This hotel was, as is almost always the case with hotels in the Accor Group, a pleasant overnight stay the rooms being clean with comfortable beds The staff whilst courteous and friendly were not as efficient as I normally find in Accor Hotels. There was a nice restaurant in which my companions and I had a very enjoyable dinner. However, I felt that the ambience and décor of the establishment was more like that to be found in an IBIS hotel than a NOVOTEL My biggest criticism of this hotel was its location - it was certainly, as a crow flies, near the railway station but none of us, all with large suitcases, appreciated the poor quality of the pavements along which we had to walk to reach the hotel
Recently stayed here for 1 night, including breakfast together with my partner. Check in wasn't a nice experience, the young girl checking us in was very unfriendly and when I mentioned this to her, the reply was: "Yes but I was just in the middle of something..." Probably... but I told her that this is not really the problem of their (paying) hotel guests. She got the message and she was much more friendly after the incident but still... Room was ok, quiet large but dated and very basic for a 4* hotel, the double bed was quiet small for 2 people but we managed. The window opened and that was definitely a bonus for us! Bathroom also very basic and not very clean. Separate toilet. Lobby is recently renovated and quiet cosy (Industrial style) and with a nice looking bar. Breakfast was very nice, not the largest choice but everything was good quality and the food was constantly being replenished. In summer you can also sit outside on the (nice looking) terrace which is a plus, knowing that you are in the middle of a busy city. Location is good, right next to the main train stations and close to shopping and bars/restaurants. They also have a small gym but when I wanted to use the facility, children were using it as a playground so I didn't get the chance... Conclusion; not a bad hotel but I am sure that there are plenty of hotels that offer a similar quality for the same price in Lille....
The hotel was booked without much regard to its location but in fact it was wonderful. The room was bright airy and spacious. The bed was comfortable. A small fridge was provided which is always useful. The breakfast was good. The bar area is modern and funky. We had dinner there and the food was of a reasonable standard and price. The staff in this hotel were nothing short of amazing - nothing was too much bother and that includes the reception staff and bar guys. Would def recommend this hotel.
The Novotel in Lille was absolutely gorgeous. It had everything that we needed after a LONG day of sight seeing and driving. It is a very funky and modern hotel. The foyer has a comfortable and kid friendly sitting area, a bar and an outside courtyard. The food at the hotel was fantastic - we had room service for dinner which was very enjoyable and the complementary breakfast was impressive! The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious! A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
We (2 adults + 2 Kids 3 & 6) stayed 3 nights in Lille at this establishment. The hotel is very nice, staff speak English as in most big chain hotels in Europe, this hotel caters reasonably well to children. Centrally located to the Flandres and Europe train stations and about a 20 minute walk to the old town centre of Lille. The breakfast is reasonable and varied and was included in our price. The room is a standard Novotel size with a double bed for parents and a fold out sofa bed for the kids. We had 3 23kg suitcases to move around with us and while it is not far to walk with luggage...well, if you are wrangling kids and luggage just get a cab to this hotel...it's a 10 euro time saver. Now this is a message for management. We had a little bit of trouble ordering room service. Room service only works if all rooms have the current room service menu and not the old room service menu. Novotel you have a good product here, don't let little things like this spoil what you have, while I'm not a hotel expert...keeping your little issues in check stops the creation of big issues, keep a check on the implementation of new room menus...keep up the good work.
Modern hotel in the middle of the city by the railway stations. Payable car parks nearby. Some local restaurants but not that many shops. Open plan reception desk leading to Bar and Restaurant. English spoken. Rooms modern and airy. Could do with a grab bar in the shower as the surfaces slightly slippy. Hair dryer available. Complimentary soap shower gel and shampoo. TV and radio which I did not use. Complimentary bottle of water in the mini bar changed daily. Self programming safe. Kettle for tea and coffee. My room just overlooked other buildings at the rear of the hotel. Fitness room on the top floor ( did not use). Two lifts that though on the small side work quickly and efficiently. Your room key card needed to operate them. Service in Bar good and quick with large selection of Belgian Beers. A large glass of Belgian beer cost €8. A bottle of Languedoc wine cost €27. Large screen TV showing Sport in the Bar and a smaller screen in the reception area. It is possible to sign for your drinks and pay at the end of your stay. Restaurant served burgers sandwiches etc. Club sandwich with chips was€17. Buffet breakfast excellent ! Could probably set you up for the whole day !
We stayed at the Lille Centre Gares on a stopover between Brussels and Bayeux and were impressed. The lobby area has several entertaining things for kids to do. The breakfast and bar are excellent. The location is convenient to the station, old town, and highway. Clean rooms and enough room for the three of us to be comfortable. Great and helpful staff.
