This hotel is just behind the Opera, so it is close to all cafes, shops, and landmarks. Very cute room and spacious bathroom. Nice and quiet. Very nicely decorated, and the staff was very friendly indeed.
The original room I was shown to smelled badly of smoke. The receptionist groaned but then upgraded me to a lovely room with a view of the Opera House and with more space to work as I was on business and needed a desk. Nice breakfast - but can we please have proper French coffee and not a Nespresso machine - and in the centre of town near the old town. Walking distance to the station and Eurostar terminal
We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, mainly for the Braderie. The location is excellent, staff very good and an ideal choice. In recent years, however, our stay has been spoilt by the presence of mosquitoes in the room. Despite the mauds spraying with Raid and buying our own spray, my wife and I were both afflicted with many bites. The weather was not exceptionally hot. - it just seems to be a perennial problem. Some kind of deterrent needs to be provided by the hotel. Having said that, I would still recommend this hotel to others.
Exceptional support from the reception staff in a family emergency above and beyond any expectations.Great room and excellent location even if this trip was cut short. We would love to visit again, now all is well here. Many, many thanks.Elaine Walmsley
Short taxi from Eurostar to hotel. Friendly, welcoming staff. Comfortable bedroom. Breakfast good. Position behind opera House, great for bars and restaurants. Stayed at beginning and end of trip to Nantes. Would definitely recommend.
Hotel was great ,well appointed. The staff were very attentive and provided excellent customer service, they really made you feel like a valued customer. Shower could have been a bit more powerful but that was a very small point. Very well located yet quiet. Would definitely recommend it. Leslie.
A pleasant and quiet hotel in a very central location. A short walk from the Eurostar station which was easily managed with a suitcase on wheels. Service was very helpful and friendly and everything was exactly as described. Rooms had a good bed, nice linen and a kettle and fridge and clean bathrooms. We also enjoyed being able to have a comfortable drink in the ground floor bar in the evenings before we went out to one of the many excellent local restaurants. Many places of interest were in walking distance and we hopped on the nearby metro at the nearby Gare de Lille Flandres to go very slightly further afield to the LaM museum [which is to be recommended].
A group of friends spent a long weekend in Lille at this hotel which is in a great location and walking distance from Eurostar. The rooms were nice, buffet breakfast good - so what was wrong! The weekend was marred by Management not honouring a credit note that was given due to an error in the initial booking; neither did they make themselves available to discuss the matter at any time over a four day period. Wine was given in its place to be hauled back to UK! Interesting to note that 'Management' respond on Trip Advisor to excellent reviews!!
Without writing an essay, my colleague was told before we left England that she would be getting a credit note for a mistake in the booking. The hotel refused to do this and we could not get to speak to the manager. The only thing they would give her was some wine which we had to get back to uk on the Eurostar. She tried to sort it out over the course of the whole time we were there, to no avail. It did leave a sour taste and because of their lack of sensitivity or common sense I would not return. The hotel itself was fine, breakfast was good and it was in an excellent location. Shame about the attitude!
The building housing this hotel is a classically French building of about 8 storeys, well located for the old centre of Lille. The biggest drawback of the hotel is that the standard rooms are quite small, though the bathroom was of reasonable size. The rooms are quirkily decorated, are airconditioned and have a very small fridge - so all the the things you need, albeit in a very small space. Travelling with a family, we found it too small, though it may suit the business traveller. I suspect a better option may be the hotels located at the Eurosport international train station, which is really only a 10 minute walk away and much better located for those travelling with Eurostar connections.
