Hotel Lille Europe3.0 out of 5.0

Travelled on the eurostar for the weekend to visit the Christmas market in Lille. The train station is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Cafés and attractions are all a short walk away. The hotel is basic but comfortable and we found it to be clean. There was plenty to chose from at breakfast although it was very busy at times. Staff were polite and helpful we will return
Very basic. Clean comfy bed. No tea or coffee in the room and unable to purchase one if you don't have the breakfast at €10. Very bad WiFi and had used the allowance first night. No parking available so it cost €80 for 3 nights in multi storey. The water wasn't hot enough to shower in the morning but did get slightly better at night, -2 outside so a hot shower was much needed. Won't be going back.
This hotel reminds my of a shabby railway hotel from a movie. From the outside the building looks ok, but on the inside it falls apart. It starts at the front desk with reception staff who could;t be bothered , slow elevators, pathetic internet service, dirty rooms, hard beds and pillows, noisy backdrop, and everyday noise from other roooms. It is in a good location near the train station and shopping center but give it a miss.
Good location, right next to the station and within a 10-15 min walk from the main squares and attractions. Friendly and helpful staff, nice modern rooms and bathrooms. Does everything right. Perfect for a weekend away in Lille
Very central to Eurostar and Lille-Flandres stations. Very short walk into Old Town so useful for tourism and business travellers. GOod check-in and Wifi facilities. Careful of the drunks on Rue Corbusier.
Decent, clean, modern, fairly basic hotel. In terms of hotel chains in the UK it feels like somewhere between Premiere Inn and Novotel. Friendly and efficient English-speaking staff – responded immediately to a couple of email queries I sent before our stay (although I wrote these in French, perhaps there would have been a slight delay if I’d sent queries in English). Good location, situated between the Eurolille and Flanders stations and a few minutes walk from the centre of Lille. A busy thoroughfare outside and, with the window open slightly to give some air, we could hear late night revellers and early morning street-cleaning machines. We were on the fourth floor (of eight) – try to get something a bit higher if you can (although I think the top floors are more expensive ‘premium’ rooms. We shopped around for a rate that included breakfast – a perfectly adequate ‘continental’ affair with decent coffee, juice, a couple of cereals, pastries, cheese, ham and boiled eggs. Probably worth the 10€ charge if it’s not included in your rate. My only gripe, and it’s a very minor one, is the lack of tea-making facilities in the standard rooms. The premium rooms have Nespresso machines but while the website doesn’t make any reference to tea or coffee in the standard rooms, a photo of a room does show a couple of mugs which suggests there should be. One of the best features of the hotel is an excellent secure luggage store. This was my first (and probably only) visit to Lille and I shall always remember it as the ‘City of trundling cases’. With the two stations, bus links to the airport, the large number of tourists and business travellers, I’ve never seen so many wheeled suitcases! Any time day or night, near the stations or in the cobbled streets at the heart of the old city, you can’t get away from the sound of the little wheels. The Hotel Lille Europe has a reassuringly secure luggage room in the reception area, only unlocked by reception staff to deposit or retrieve a case, for which you are given a ticket. You can drop your case off on the way past the hotel on the day you check in and leave it in the store on the day you check out, picking it up on your way to the station 5 minutes away. Bottom line: a good hotel although without a great deal of wow factor – I’d have no hesitation in recommending it and will stay there again if I’m ever in Lille.
Value for money cheaper, than most but adequate good location, wifi a concern only worked on occasion. Walking distance to stations restaurants etc. Bit stuffy no air con window was a god send. We used it when doing a battlefields tour and guide picked us up from there.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming as well as being helpful with storing our luggage once we had checked out. Also a great location only 5 minutes from the train station and also the town centre. The room however was disappointing. We had two single beds which were uncomfortable and also no air conditioning so the room was stuffy particularly at night as if you had the window open, the main road traffic was too loud. The mini fridge also did not work and there was not any tea and coffee making facilities. In our bathroom there was a very odd and quite large yellow stain on the bathroom door... Cannot fault the staff and location but let down by the room.
This hotel on arrival looked like it would not amount to much, but appearances are deceiving, the staff are friendly, great service from reception. We opted for the optional breakfast at 10 euros which was a continental buffet, this was value for money, fresh fruit, croissants, pain au chocolat, cold meats and cheese, beautiful bread selection, fresh juice, coffee and hot chocolate. The bathroom had a bath and shower, plenty of clean towels and basic toiletries. A TV is in the room as well as a fridge which was great for keeping the water cold. There is no facilities for tea and coffee in the room however you are next to a cafe and in the shopping centre there is a Starbucks amongst other food outlets, so you can always get a takeaway. 10 mins from Eurostar station, great to walk to the Centre of Lille and next to the Lille Flandres station for trips further out. There is lots of buliding work going on in Lille, but it did not disturb us in anyway.
Checked in and reception staff lovely and friendly and ever so helpful. Was in Lille for the braderie so arrived early and was able to leave suitcases in secure room within hotel which was fantastic. Room was very clean and single beds clean but on the small and low side. No air conditioning in room so was very stuffy and hot. Thankfully it was not hot, hot weather wise, had it have been baking hot weather, the room would have unbearable. The fridge wasn't working so no cold drinks to cool you down after a long days shopping and walking. No tea or coffee making facilities in room. The bath plug didn't work so any water you ran, quickly disappeared. However, Excellent location. Can't fault that. 5 mins from station, the hotel is situated next door to a massive shopping centre and you are a few minutes walk from centre of Lille. For a room that cost 189 euros, i was very disappointed for what I had in my room or should I say what my room lacked. Would I be back, no. Would I come back to. Lille. Yes. Beautiful and stunning.
