The hotel is in a great location, just 10mins walk from the Eurostar train station. We had a car, there is no parking at the hotel, but 5mins around the corner you can book through the hotel is a private car park at about €10 per night. We had an inside room with no view, but that didn't matter as only sleeping in it! The room was clean and cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was buffet continental which was nice. It is a 5min walk to the square where you will find lots of places to eat and drink. Just at the top of the road are the two train stations, local and Eurostar. We caught the fast train into Paris for the day taking 1hour. I really recommend that.
I booked 3 nights with my mum over the weekend at the start of August (got the Eurostar from London in an hour and a half) and we were greeted at reception by a very nice girl. We were given our room key and we went up to it but was disappointed to see it was a double bed when we had requested a twin. The view of this room was of the other room's windows and due to it being an inside room it felt dark and dingy. I went back downstairs and was given another key but this one was also a double. After that the manager joined and I was told that due to there being no twin rooms other than the square view ones we were upgraded! Now this room was a whole other level. It was bright and airy, the bathroom was huge and very nice, but the main thing was the view. We could sit with the big doors open out onto the little balcony type thing and we're in the main square! If we had one of the inside rooms I wouldn't stay again but I have recommended this hotel to my friends and would 100% stay again in the lovely room with the doors!! We had forgotten our uk - eu adapter (accidentally bought an American one with us!) and the girl on reception found one in a box under the desk which was a huge life saver as no shops seemed to have one! We ate at the crepe place across the square with good reviews - don't go it's terrible!! There's a little waffle place along one of the side roads right by the centre that was amazing and sooo much cheaper!! We also tried the hippo restaurant and that was lovely :) had a great offer with main, dessert and a drink for 20 euros :) Finally, the hotel requests you leave your key with them when you leave the hotel which I didn't love as when the staff change over for the evening they just have to trust you when you say you're staying in a room and hand over the key but it could be anyone :S Have a lovely stay in Lille! :)
Yes the rooms are in need of a little love and attention but this hotel was very good to us! An upgrade FOC on arrival with a view of Grand Place (303) and a great central location , would defo recommend to you all
Booked the hotel to find something different than my usual Hilton or Marriott stays. Trust me I got it. Check in was just fine parking is not fare away 5 minutes walk cost around 12 Euro a day. Breakfast was ok nothing fancy. BUT 4TH FLOOR smells like SEWAGE had to shut down the AC open the window but still the smell was terrible. I ask the reception to change but there ignored it. Checked each floor the smell was everywhere. The hotel is run down the bar is nice I guess the theme is to sell the hotel like it was in the good old days but run down. I am not that picky I usually ask only for 2 things Clean & friendly everything else is a bonus.
Room 301 great views of the square definitely worth the additional money. Large bed and the pillows very comfortable. Very quiet air conditioning, tea making facilities, mini bar and safe. Period furniture all adds to the charm of the room - oil paintings, period mirrors, high ceilings etc. The double doors to the square are very sound proof we did not hear a thing all night. Receptionists were all very knowledgeable, lots of recommendations and also made dinner reservations for us. The hotel bar - Le Windsor was very quirky, lots of cocktails and hotel premium prices.
This place is a gem, full of old fashioned charm. Spacious rooms, very helpful staff and an excellent location overlooking the Grand Place. The rooms look slightly faded but this only adds to the charm. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the rooms and the breakfast is also to be recommended.
You never expect to get a room with the view as shown on the website! We had a warm welcome from the staff, all of whom forgave my dreadful French (although I did continue to try) and spoke excellent English. Rooms were clean and tidy, bathroom was huge and again clean and tidy. I thought being on the square it would be a little noisy, but the double glazing and original doors cut out all the noise. There was air con in the room which was a nice plus in an old building. Wifi was always available. We were able to leave our luggage on the last day, as our Eurostar wasn't until the late afternoon. Hotel is ideally situated for the old town, about 10 mins walk from the Eurostar and we were able to walk everywhere from the hotel. The tourist information is about 2mins walk away. Plenty of places to eat close by, most reasonably priced.
I was in Lille recently for a two week business trip and stayed at the Grand Hotel Bellevue. The staff was very friendly and welcoming right away. They spoke excellent English and were very helpful when recommending restaurants or shopping in the area. The breakfast each morning was excellent although it was the same each day so after two weeks it was hard to find something different (but its not normal for a two week stay so I dont hold that against them). Housekeeping was very good and always came back to a nice clean room each day after work. I also had some laundry I needed clean and they were happy to help and I got it the next day.
We booked a room with a view over the Grand Place and it was worth it. The hotel was a good base for exploring Lille, convenient both for the train station and Vieux Lille. We loved being right on the square close to cafes. The building is attractive, the decor traditional, and the price was reasonable.
Delightful, old-fashioned hotel. We paid a bit extra to get a view of the Grande Place. This is well worth doing. It puts you right in the heart of the city, but although we stayed on a Friday and a Saturday night, it was never too noisy. Our room was clean and comfortable with a very comfortable bed. Two nights for two people cost about £250. We took a taxi from the Eurostar station, but actually it is a very easy walk even with a suitcase. Breakfast was adequate.
