Perfect for our stay in Lille

The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. It's a short walk to the metro station and we were able to get into the centre of Lille quickly. There's plenty of parking and it was right outside our rooms too :) Staff were friendly and helpful.

Unclean and damp

The room was awful. I'm walking in it smelt strongly of urine. The floor next to the bathroom was soaking wet. The bedsheets were stained. There were flies in the room. Thick dust on the tv side. Air conditioning had been dismantled and because it is a motel with outside metal shutters for curtains you cannot have a window open. I had to stay 1 night but cancelled my booking for the next 2. When I left very early the next morning my clothes and shoes were damp. Never have I moved from a hotel and never have I been in a room so unclean.

It was okay

It's a budget hotel so didn't have high expectations. Something to note is this is more like an American motel - the rooms are accessed from outside along the edges of the building. No lift as stated which was fine - spiders everywhere in the outside corridors though. Room itself well, I guess it looks like the picture but with yellowed walls. Horrible smell in the room, can't place it at all. Air conditioning if thats what it was didn't work, just blew room temp or hot air around the room depending on where you selected on the dial. Bathroom was adequate but clearly not cleaned properly given there was someone else's hair in the sink and dirt on the floor. Toilet had a mysterious brown stain under the water line too. The bed was comfortable, I slept well on it which was a definite plus. Security is pretty good since you have to cover the window with an electronic metal shutter at night. There was a kettle in the room, some spare sheets and a TV. I didn't try the breakfast but assume that was also okay given a few people were eating it.

Typical run down French Motel chain

I never expect much when using these French Motel chains. This one was like every other one. They used to be good several years ago but they're now starting to look old and tatty. Cleanliness wasn't good. The bathroom stank of stale urine and despite being a non smoking room, everything stank of smoke.

Missed out on breakfast as receptionist asked if I wanted breakfast and I decided not to pay for it. When I checked out lady said it was included. Room was nice, sex noises of room next door as well. Room wasn’t the cleanest either. I guess overall ok for the cost for one night.

Needs improving

The reception was difficult to access and the evening receptionist not very welcoming. We were planning on having dinner at the hotel restaurant but it was already closed at 21:00. Thankfully, the hotel is located within a shopping area, so it was easy to find an alternative. One pubic hair found in the shower and one hair in the sink upon arrival. Not the Best first impression...

Nice room. Tea and coffee making facilities. Beautiful setting over looking lake, nice and quiet. Lots of places to eat and drink very close by. Great stop over on route to ferry port. Highly recommend.

Good Hotel Close to Lille

Very good value for money and very close to the bowling alley where we were in a 4 day tournament. Lots of reasonable eateries nearby and a very large Carrefour in a shopping mall. Continental breakfasts which were okay for us. We were overlooking the lake at the back of the property and had a lovely view. Staff could just about muddle through with us in 'Franglais'. Good jumping off point for Lille and Ypres and only an hours drive from Calais.

A good convenient place to stay

We had rooms out the back on the top floor over looking the lake which was lovely. Rooms out the front, not so nice. They overlooked the retail park!! Plenty of restaurants nearby and a 10 minute walk to the metro where a 20 minute train ride took you into the centre of Lille. Rooms were clean and tidy, bed was comfy, bathroom more than adequate with clean towels every day. Some niggles; one lamp that didn't work, one dodgy socket (actually, not enough sockets. Only one double per room), only one chair for two people but all in all, a nice roomy place to stay. Breakfast was excellent, an eat as much as you like with plenty to choose from for all tastes. Would consider staying again if we were in that area again.
