"Spacious room, free parking, responsive staff, quiet street close to the center"

"The breakfast was reasonable and the staff were mediocre. I have no idea why this hotel gets such high ratings. The hotel is stuck in the 1900’s with its design and decor. The room’s furnishings are so outdated. The shower was ridiculous in that you had to stand in the bath and angle the shower head down or else it would spray over the glass protector but it was so low you had to duck to get your head wet while up against the side shower wall. Be warned that if you don’t like cigarette smoke then don’t book here because people smoke everywhere including the restaurant and lounge. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel until they have upgraded everything and banned smoking inside. Our initial booked room was so small that two people with two suitcases couldn’t fit and the upgraded room was spacious but you have to leave your suitcases downstairs because there is no room for them in the bedroom which is upstairs. "

"Disappointing for a 5-Star Hotel, Saved Only by Location & Massages The hotel is clearly outdated and in need of a serious makeover. While the staff was generally polite, the overall service level did not match 5-star expectations. Housekeeping was particularly disappointing. On many occasions things were forgotten: trash left behind, bed linen not changed despite a specific request, missing tea cups, and other small but frequent oversights. These issues happened far too often to be considered isolated incidents. Guest relations were always apologetic, but the responses felt somewhat clumsy and superficial. The SPA itself was fine, but the massages were excellent — truly the highlight of our stay and the one area where we were genuinely very pleased. Breakfast was acceptable, but again not what one would expect from a 5-star hotel in terms of quality or variety. Dining overall was a poor experience; by that point we simply accepted the reality and tried to stay positive. On the positive side, the location is great, which is a major advantage. Overall, this hotel falls well short of its 5-star rating. With proper renovations and better attention to service details, it could improve significantly — but as it stands, expectations should be adjusted."
