Second visit to this hotel in deluxe and well worth the money when you weigh up the extra benefits. Only 2 negatives this time, the evening entertainment was not as good, the piano bar not being used this time which I found very relaxing or an occasional evening.secondly deluxe rooms have a coffee machine. They give you 4 coffee pods and milk but then you have to pay for more at €8 for 4 pods, very expensive. We ended up hiring a kettle for €10 for the week. Food great and staff brilliant. Got to know Donzo who worked in the bar in the evening, great guy. The staff in the volcano restaurant were outstanding with my daughter who is coeliac and prepared a couple of meals for her.

9th to 23th June 2017 (Delux) The Good bits... Lovely looking hotel, clean, (most) staff are brilliant. (Thank you Domingo). Pool is great, clean water, right temperature. Pool Delux area, nice, clean, tidy, good sun beds (one or two broke but there were some 150 to 200 kg's there. ) Good shade when required. English Language a slight problem with some staff, but it is Spain. Room was always kept clean, fresh bedding everyday, something that's very few hotels do. Delux dinning area was large, cool, and well lit. If you're a late riser there's a good (Delux only) late breakfast room, with ample food 'til 12 noon. Fairly good location, good clean beach but not directly opposite hotel and was 250 - 300 metres down promenade, very crowded as used by all hotels and residents in area. Evening entertainment was quite good, and some professional acts, 'Vusion' and 'Deva' were very good. But very short program, only 1 hour per night. We did not use all faculties as we just wanted to relax. But there's a gym, and indoor pool. Shooting, archery etc. There was also a lovely looking piano bar, but we never saw it open in all the two weeks we were there. NOW. The not so good bits. We were let down by our travel agents slightly, so not all the hotels fault but be aware! We booked a Delux super-king bedroom, but we got a twin double, hotel said it was not booked. We were told there's a coffee making machine in Delux rooms, there is, but only complimentary (4) mixed coffee for first night only, you then have to pay 8€ for 4 cups of coffee, which works out at 2€ per self made coffee in paper cups . For the amount extra we paid for Delux this is quite scandalous and a rip off. Pool towels. Pay deposit of 20€ okay. Pay 1€ to exchange. Never in all my hotels have I had to pay for this service. Food. Very repetitive, if you like veal, chicken, pork this is the place for you. The vegetables were very poor and over cooked. French fries were not crispy and only warm. Once, we had proper chips, I even congratulated the restaurant manager personally, on what a nice difference the real chips made, but it was the one and only time. It catered very much towards the German customer rather than the English, but we where in a different country, unfortunately it was mostly in Germany. The strange thing was, in the many ALL INCLUSIVE hotels I've been to all around the world this was the only one that does NOT have 'themed restaurants' that you can use once per week, here nothing, what they have is what you get. We did go out to dine, just to get a change of diet, but it can be very expensive for a good meal. (100€ + for two) with a bottle of wine. You shouldn't have to do this when you're DELUX all inclusive. Cocktail bar. Well!!!! I love my Vodka DRY Martini, shaken NOT starred! With an olive. Looking at the drinks menu, Smirnoff Vodka and Dry Martini are inclusive on the Delux drinks menu. Could I get one, could I hell. The boss of the bar one day was very rude, in fact he totally embarrassed my in front of other guest even when offering to pay for a good Vodka Martini, his basic remark was, "No includo" which it was, and "Your credit no good" when I offered to pay. I went and got a manager with good English to Spanish translation skills. I told him the problem and I insisted that this 'boss' waiter serve me himself, I got him to shake it in a cocktail shaker, yes they did have one, he served it, but no olives, "could I have an olive please?" "No Olives" came the reply, no olives in Spain? They had them in the restaurant and the pool bar. but not in the cocktail bar, or so he said. This was the only fairly decent 'shaken' Vodka Martini I had in the hotel, oh! and no cocktail glasses, it was either a tumbler or a wine glass. Internet. Free, but very week. No downloading unless you pay. General observations. Nice-ish hotel, nice helpful staff (mostly) l but I've been now. Say no more!

We came to Playa Blanca last year and stayed by the marina so wanted something a little more central. The Hesperia was ideal, not too far from the marina and the town for the restaurants and a stones throw from Playa Dorada beach. We had a deluxe room with two double beds and view over the pool. Plenty of sun beds and a deluxe section round the pool with big parasols and better quality sun beds. Food was great and plenty of choice. Staff were all very nice especially Maru who is lovely, very hard working and always has a smile on her face. We were late arriving so after checking into our room they brought us a sandwich each, fruit, yogurt and some water which we didn't expect. Nice big reception/ bar area and entertainment in the evening. Rooms were cleaned every day and the hotel itself was very clean. Coffee machine in the room but no tea making facilities. Wifi around the hotel but not brilliant in our room. Booked a couple of things at Tourist Ticket in the marina, Helen who works there is brilliant and very helpful. All in all a great week and lovely hotel

Spotlessly clean hotel. Welcome drink on arrival. Excellent food. Good room overlooking the sea. Staff very helpful. Amazing location, 5 minutes to Marina and 10 to Playa Blanca. Highly recommend this hotel and would go back.

Great location. Ground floor room. Deluxe. Facing main pool area. We paid for all inclusive deluxe. Food generally very good. Most drinks included apart from some premium brands. Separate area for sunbathing for deluxe customers by main pool. We didn't use it. Beds too close together. We sat by the pool at the rear of the hotel. Much quieter. Staff were all very friendly & helpful. The main problem was the noise from the main pool area during the afternoon. Forget trying to have a Siesta. No chance. Loud music. Pool games. A guy announcing everything in 5 different languages. We would not return to this hotel.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here from the 1st to the 15th of June, we stayed half board deluxe. We arrived and got a free glass of champagne and orange juice while we checked in. When we got to the room (0133) had a sandwich each waiting on us as we were arriving late (which was really good). The staff were lovely but very limited with English. The food for breakfast and dinner was always good, can't complain about it. The pool area is really nice has a deluxe area and non deluxe. It also has 4 pools ( 2 kids pools a main pool and another pool at the other side of the hotel). Will be back to this hotel again without a doubt! Would recommend going all inclusive either normally or deluxe.

We spent an awesome week at the Hesperia Playa Dorada. The hotel is a little uninspiring from the front but don't let that put you off. Inside is much nicer, it's ever so clean, really well maintained, spacious and airy. We had a the deluxe room with a view right on the promenade, well worth the upgrade cost. Rooms are large, sufficiently equipped and cleaned daily. There's free wi-fi in the rooms and throughout the hotel (including by the pool), and it works! The pool has ample sun loungers and umbrellas. If that's not for you, the hotel is on the beach front. The food is stunning, something for everyone. Freshly cooked if you don't mind a 2 minute wait or ample buffet food, a huge selection for breakfast and lunch. So, what didn't we like. We stayed half board and the drinks are a little pricey, £3,80 for a large beer (probably 3/4 of a pint). We really didn't like having to pay for water at the evening meal, I think even for half board customers water (just a bottle) should be free at the evening meal. There's no real lunch option for the half boarders, unless you want to pay £23 for a buffet lunch. We liked the no smoking on the balcony rules, but this isn't enforced (not sure how you would enforce it though). When we checked in I think the reception could explain more about the hotel to you, for example, we didn't know Deluxe room upgrades had access to a VIP breakfast, no one explained how or where to get a pool towel. These are minor quibbles. This is a great hotel, ignore reviews below 4/5, they're simply not accurate. We'd stay again and recommend the hotel. Mr Hotel Manager, should you read this, a bit of advice, when the pool bar closes you need to lock the freezer containing the ice-creams immediately. Dishonest thieving Brits are stealing the premium ice-creams.

Stayed at Hesperia Playa Dorada in Playa Blanca Lanzarote for a week in June. This hotel is not the prettiest in Playa Blanca, indeed my husband referred to it as 'The Ugly Duckling'. This hotel soon turned in to a Princess! We stayed in a Deluxe Double Room with a sea view. We were sceptical at first as room 0123 was ground floor and seemed very vulnerable. However we couldn't fault the view and the tree just outside the room was very pretty and added to the ambiance. There was a huge fridge in the room and we also made use of the safe. Room was clean and comfortable. (We were a little disconcerted when we first arrived as the water from the bathroom sink ran brown for the first couple of minutes. Once it cleared it was fine). The food was very good. We ate mostly in the Volcano Restaurant. The way the food was presented enticed you to go back and sample more. There was a wide range of food - something for everyone. The only down side regarding 'drink' was the lack of any premium beers. The 'cervesa' served was not the best. Regarding staff - could not fault anyone. All staff were very helpful and very polite. They were always willing to assist with anything. Entertainment. ... not bad but could be better. Although the animation team work very hard they should perhaps stop the hi-de-hi holiday camp theme during the evening entertainment hour. They should be aware there are adults in the audience who do not wish to be treated as children which was the feeling we had. This is not to knock the team, who as I said earlier, work very hard, but is given as constructive criticism. Pool area is very nice and clean. We made use of the Deluxe area with the astro turf. Very nice ! On the whole this hotel is a good 'all-rounder' and one we will consider for a future return. Well done all !!

Spent a week here at the end of May with my husband and elderly father. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Our rooms were lovely overlooking the sea. We had a lovely relaxing time. Any queries we had were quickly and efficiently dealt with by the staff. We felt very pampered and looked after. I would recommend it to anyone coming to Lanzarote. The location was perfect for the Marina and a walk into the main resort.

I stayed at the Hotel Hesperia during the last week of May and travelled with my elderly parents. I upgraded to the deluxe sea view rooms and wasn't disappointed. I emailed in advance asking if our rooms could be together and in a quiet location and my request was granted. We were allocated 2 ground floor rooms 125 and 126 and were very happy with them. The bedrooms were large and comfortable with plenty of storage space and lovely views out to sea. The housekeepers did a great job of keeping the rooms spotless and the towels and bedding was changed regularly. We did have to pay for the room safe which I was aware of before going and it was big enough to take all of our valuables. We used the Volcano restaurant for our meals which was part of our deluxe package and enjoyed the calmer atmosphere of it compared to the main restaurant which we had to use on a couple of nights when the Volcano was having work carried out. The dinning room staff worked very hard clearing and resetting the tables and special mention to Sara who always greeted us with a smile and showed us to our table and Ignacious (apologies if I've misspelled his name) who was always helpful with fetching our morning teas. We enjoyed the wide variety of food especially having the option of choosing the meat or fish we wanted and having it cooked freshly in front of us. We also enjoyed choosing our toppings at the pasta and pizza station which were all made freshly for us. Soups and desserts were also very tasty and replenished frequently. The hotel is in a great location near the lovely Dorada beach and Marina and has well maintained gardens and lovely pools. We all enjoyed a very relaxing week here and would have no hesitation in returning to the Hesperia.
