We stayed her for 3 nights after Burning Man and the owner and her team were so welcoming. The cabin was really cosy and the wind through the massive pine trees around the area was so relaxing. We were given all the details we could ask for on where to drive for best hiking, where to relax on sandy beaches , where to eat in town. The best thing about Cotttage Inn though was the socialising with other travellers. During the delicious breakfast in the morning (quiche, hash brown, endless coffee, fruit, home made granola) we met other couples from all over and had long interesting chats. Really recommend this place for stop overs at Tahoe.

Very quaint property in a nice wooded location on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Private beach access. Good breakfast and evening happy hour with wine and hors d ouvres. Staff was very friendly. I liked that the Inn was close enough to Tahoe City to be convenient, but far enough away to be fairly quiet. Easy walk to local market.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our experience at The Cottage Inn! The location is great, the staff is amazing, and the rooms are cozy and clean. The breakfasts and happy hours are a really good bonus, too. We would not stay anywhere else in Lake Tahoe!

The bed was very comfortable and upon arrival, a member of their wonderful staff greeted us with wine. The breakfast in the morning was everything you could ask for before heading to the ski slopes and the cozy rooms were perfect.

We decided to head to Lake Tahoe for the weekend on the spur of the moment, and remembered enjoying a stay there in 2008. Thankfully they had room, and it was everything we remembered. The breakfast is fantastic, and the night host, Christopher, went above and beyond to make sure we were happy & comfortable.

The Cottage Inn is definitely cute and quaint as you drive into the small enclave of charming cabins nestled in a circle under some very old and tall Lodgepole and Sugar Pines. The filtered sunlight that makes it down thru the ticket of branches casts the most beautiful glow on cabins and well groomed grounds and walkways. Check in was easy and we were escorted to our cabin and given the layout of the property by the very attentive front desk clerk. There are two designated parking areas off to the sides and behind the cabins, but you are allowed to park as close as you can to your cabin to unload your things before you go and park your car out of the way so as to maintain the rustic and natural environs. Our cabin was very charming on the outside and for some probably charming on the inside as well. I thought it was rather dark and a bit musty. The windows are small and the walls are lined in dark wood boards that give it a very log cabin feel. The cottages are old so they are also a bit musty smelling, which someone tried to mask with pretty strong woodsy air freshener which didn't help much and left me wondering which was worse. The furnishings are old and dated but then that's how the place is suppose to look so no one should be the wiser...unless of course you are. Our themed cabin had a rather unappealing gas heater disguised as a fireplace which does keep the room warm, but it has those furnace blue flames and one of the loudest heatilators (fan) ever made... sorry, not rustic, quaint or cozy but will keep you warm. The queen size bed was firm and comfortable and a bit on the small side if you're used to a king. The bathroom was large enough and accessed thru a noisy sliding barn style door. There is a large walk-in shower with plenty of hot water that utilizes one of those rain type shower heads that sting you if you're not careful with the water pressure, ouch! The rooms could benefit from a freshening up, maybe less kitsch and more charm, but who spends all there time in the room, right? The grounds are lovely and you have access via a short stroll to a private, gated beach, however it's a narrow gravel beach, not a sprawling sandy one, but there are picnic tables, outdoor grills, volleyball courts and a bathroom onsite. The friendly and very helpful staff are there to welcome you with some wine and snacks (crackers, cheese, canapes) every evening around 5 o'clock. You can sit outside on the deck overlooking the grounds, or inside to mingle with other quests. At 8 am a buffet breakfast can be had in the main lodge consisting of a scrambled egg dish, a side of either potatoes or breakfast meats, as well as an assortment of muffins, scones, fruits, yogurt parfaits, cereals, breads for toasting, coffees, teas and orange juice. A pleasant enough retreat in a great location, but could use a refresh.

My fiance and I stayed here for a first time visit and I must say - amazing experience. The hospitality was above what I normally am accustomed too and they were able to prep the room for a "birthday" experience for my fiance (since we were staying there for her birthday). They also made sure we had some good travel ideas to keep us busy around the area, made some great recommendations for dining, along with some scenic driving we were open to experiencing. The rooms were clean, the breakfast and happy hour was a great experience - allowed you to socialize with their staff along with other cottage stayers. Chris was an absolutely wonderful, friendly, and outgoing guy that we had a great time and pleasure getting to know. The owner also went out of her way to write "Happy Birthday" in rose pedals for my fiance on the bed before we arrived along with some chocolate dipped strawberries and a chilled bottle of wine. Couldn't have chosen a better place. The only feedback I have is that they may want to improve their WiFi a little, and the lighting inside the cabins/cottages (in the one we stayed in) was a bit of a darker atmosphere during the night. However, we enjoyed the natural sunlight more than anything during the day. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

The Cottage Inn in Tahoe City has been around for 20+years and continues to maintain it's cozy, rustic charm. With pleasant, hard working owners on site and more than accommodating staff available, the Cottage Inn feels like a welcome respite after a long day enjoying any of the numerous local activities. The rooms, with varied themes, are kept updated and the grounds are well maintained. A home made breakfast is available daily with hot foods, fresh fruit, fresh baked treats as well as homemade granola. In the evening you can enjoy a variety of snacks with a glass of wine. I particularly love that the Cottage Inn is part of the local owner's association which grants guests the right to enjoy a private park like setting with grills, picnic tables and benches to enjoy the view. With a private beach and two docks, it is the perfect spot for Summer and early Fall swimming. The Cottage Inn is a great place to stay when enjoying the quieter side of Lake Tahoe. With an easy walk into Tahoe City or quick drive to several great State Parks, it is a perfect launching point. Cottage Inn remains my go to place when enjoying the High Sierras.

Great places for people with no children since they don’t allow them here.. very comfortable cabins.. they also offer wine and snack in the evening and a great spread for breakfast.. they offer access to a small beach about a 1/2 block away which you can barbecue or paddle board and kayak.. there is a grass sitting area on the property also with a hammock if you just want to stay there.. there are several restaurants and a small store within walking distance but the store is a bit expensive although the pizza at the store is delicious.. there is also a small kitchen if you just want to eat in.. great for a relaxing getaway..

The cabins are very nice. Susie the owner was so friendly and accommodating. She extended our stay and upgraded our cabin at the last minute. The cabin was beautifully decorated and had a nice balcony. Very Tahoe. You will not be disappointed. And hospitality is somewhat of a lost art but Susie and her team really go above and beyond. They noticed that we get up early and went looking for coffee our first morning, so by that afternoon we had a coffee pot and cream placed in our cabin. Nicely done. And breakfast was excellent!
