Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa
5/5 Excellent
"I really would struggle in seeing a poor review tied to anything other than an extraordinary circumstance or a challenge with the price. Unfortunately, Switzerland is very expensive compared to virtually all of its surroundings; however, when you step onto the property, especially in the main hotel, if your room has a view, you quickly see what you're paying for. I mean, what hotel has access to a shuttle boat that is generally quite nice and a funicular to take you down to it? So a few key things: - We were there when it was hot. 95-97F (35-36C). The resort just isn't built for that. That's not to say that it wasn't generally cooler than the outside, but to say that if you're expecting American air conditioning, this isn't going to be it. We had two rooms next to each other and the temp difference was evident between them as well, so there is general challenge at that temp. Hallways and areas that are of less priority are also warmer. - Things really are expensive. That means food and drinks too. Cocktails, with the swiss exchange rate are pushing $30USD, and food has a similar level. Again, the quality is there, so it is just on par with everything else. - If you love wine, Spices has an outstanding wine list and somm team. - Breakfast inclusive is done very well. - This is not an adults only resort. As such, you will run into children and similar. After a lot of other higher end stays in Europe, this was probably the location we ran into the most children."
