We were moving and have everything go wrong from electricity going out to plumbing exploding. We were dead tired and we live in a small town with limited hotels. We took a room at the local hotel and was surprised. Neat clean rooms friendly staff...Thanks for a good nights sleep!!!!!!
My review will be short, due to the fact that we never made it back out of the door with a room key. My story: My son's graduation was Friday night, I booked a room online a week prior for my 91yr old mother and her daughter in law in her 70's. I booked a king size bed smoking room, after a long tedious day of celebration we arrived at the motel and I went to check them in, "we have no room available in smoking" showed my reservation and he said " we don't have that room available and that's not what it came out as from the internet or something to that effect I was rattled and tired...." after repeatedly telling him that I have two seniors that are tired and just want their room I booked in advance I got "we have nothing available" I stormed out and went across the street to Executive Suites, the rooms were okay for a night stay and a smoking room was available in and out with a key in hand less than 10 mins. These people at American Value should not book rooms on a website cause they do not keep your booked rooms available.
Stopped here for 1 night on our way from Houston to South Padre Island. The check in process was very quick. Mattresses were good and firm. Water pressure in the shower was strong. Waffles on the breakfast bar were delicious. It was a good value for the money.
It's clean and desk help was friendly, gave me the competition across the road cheaper price. Just traveled here for the week for work. Can't say much more about, clean bathroom, clean bed, fridge and microwave in room. Good enough nothing fancy...
My friend and I stayed one night here after attending a wedding near West Columbia. We checked in around 4pm and left for the evening. After returning at 10 pm we noticed a lot of unusual traffic through this place. It was quit obvious that these men were trolling through the parking lot looking to pick up hookers that live in some of the rooms on the first floor. Other than that the rooms were clean enough for our short stay. Should have only been $60/night in my opinion. We were just happy no one broke into our vehicle or stole it.
Not a lot of choices in West Columbia, but this one is a good one. We were in town for a speech and debate tournament. The staff was very nice, even opening breakfast early for us so we could eat before leaving. The rooms were clean, smelled nice. America's Best Value Inn is, obviously, not a big frills hotel. The cost was low, and it was definitely nice for the money.
Every so often when traveling you get a welcome surprise when you arrive at your stop. This was our feeling upon checking in to the Americas Best in West Columbia foe the night. We were visiting friends in the area but they have a travel trailer and are not set up for overnite guest, so we reserved a night here. And boy was it a pleasant experience! Room was very large, very clean and tidy. The breakfast area was small only six tables but the waffles with peanut butter and syrup and the Owens sausage and egg taco was just the start I needed for a rainy day. The coffee was well above average for hotel/motel offerings and a delight. I even took a cup back to room while we were packing up to leave! If you happen to be in the area I strongly check out this locale.
We came in the middle of what I guess was a renovation. The best renovation would've just been to spray a bottle of febreeze, the bedrooms smelled like they hadn't been used in 20 years! There were blood stains on the floor which was a little shady to me, and the beds felt grimy. 1/10 would not ever stay here again.
Just your run of the mill small hotel that is cared for as little as possible to get by. I certainly wasn't expecting a five star hotel in West Columbia. But if these owners out a teeny bit of effort into this hotel it could be a very different experience. If they did simple maintenance like...you know.... sweeping walkways, repairing door locks, removing wasp nests it would be noticed. We had three rooms. The room my mother was in the first night had no dead bolt and no chain lock. She slept with one eye open. The owners happily switched her room the next day. But c'mon. Locks??? Keep up with the simple things. My grandparents room was really musty smelling. Not sure why. Our other two rooms smelled fine. There were tons of spider webs down the outdoor hallways. The light fixtures outside were FILLED with dead bugs. The vents in the lobby were CAKED with dust and filth. They certainly put out as little as possible for breakfast. I get it. You don't want to waste. But it's not really inviting to your guests. My room was clean and comfortable. No complaints there. But. Just an ok experience. I think it is a cultural disconnect. Hopefully they read tripadvisor.
In 1987, this was another hotel chain. My then-husband and I stayed for one night. This time, it was just myself. My King room was comfortable. The property was quiet. It was close to fast food establishments as well as CVS. This hotel was a good spot for a much-needed break. This stay helped put a period to that past. There were minor issues: 1. The cable reception was grainy on all channels. 2. Place bigger non-slip mats in tub. I have Cerebral Palsy and I held onto the bath rail for dear life whenever I showered. 3. Plug all the lamps and the alarm clock into sockets.
