Stayed at the Fairmont for 4 days as a birthday treat and to visit the Christmas Market. The hotel is everything a 5 star venue should be. The location is excellent - right opposite Lake Geneva with a fantastic view of the mountains, and the Christmas Market starts just outside it. We got a train from Geneva airport (about 1 hr 20min journey) to Montreux Gare. The train station in Montreux is literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel. This is the first year that the hotel has done a Christmas light display and it was spectacular. Honestly worth visiting Montreux if only to see that! The hotel also set up an igloo in front of the hotel where we went and sat around a fire and ate fondue and drank champagne! Fantastic!!! The room (208) was spacious and one of the best views I’ve ever experienced from a hotel. We overlooked the lake, the mountains, the igloo(!) and the Christmas market. It was clean, spacious, luxurious and we slept very well in the comfy bed! Breakfast was expensive but delicious (40CHF per person) The only negatives I have about the hotel are the hairdryer - not much power and you have to hold down the button the whole time, and the bedsheet on the first night had a hole in it which I was very surprised to see. Neither of these things spoiled our stay though! I’d definitely stay in this hotel again!!! Oh yes, and thank you to Fairmont for the delicious birthday cake you left in our room!!!!!
Visited here for a few days in November. Unfortunately just missed the Christmas market. We have stayed at most Fairmont properties in North America. This one was not a let down. It is a beautiful palace in a great location. Staff were attentive, helpful and courteous. We did not take part in the Sunday brunch but enjoyed the breakfast buffet every other time, which was great. They had an ammentiy kit for kids and a crib was set up in the room before we arrived. The pool/spa area was great. Travelling with kids if there was one downside the pool was only available to kids from 2pm-6pm and children could not use any of the hot tubs, steam room or sauna even under adult supervision. Overall very happy and we plan to return to this hotel in the future.
Incredible views of lake, rooms and service!!!!! Indoor pool and very good spa. Best location in town. Rooms are big and baths too. Nothing is missing in this 5 stat hotel!!!! Thanks to every detail to spoil clients.
This is what a five-star hotel is all about. Friendly and attentive front desk, beautiful rooms with a great view, in a great location and optional amenities, and concierge that was interested in helping. We enjoyed the king size bed, that was not two twin beds next to each other. We certainly paid for the room, as it was expensive, even during the slow season but it was a memorable experience for this once in a lifetime trip.
Absolutely amazing 2 night stay as a press trip visiting the Christmas markets. The personal service at this hotel is 5*****. Nothing is too much trouble and being press I do put them to the test. Passed with flying colours. Room excellent cleanliness 5*. Breakfast was busy but a good efficient team was on the ball. Miecha scholtz restaurant manager well done.
This hotel is truly excellent. We booked it last minute, but boy was it a great decision! We stayed for three nights. Rooms: We had two connecting rooms, one a suite and the other regular with twin beds. The detail in even the regular room was just magnificent. Really, you can't go wrong here, no matter what room you book. Location: This was our first time in Montreux, and we are dying to go back. A relatively small town nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva, it is one of the most spectacular places we've been to. Tons of stuff to do, including the Chillon Castle and Glacier 3000 nearby. The hotel is situated just across the street from the lake, with great views. Restaurants: There are plenty of restaurants nearby and at the hotel. While finding breakfast throughout the city was a struggle, I would say the culture of Switzerland is to blame for that. We ate at a pizza/Italian place the first night, and it was pretty good. We ate at MP's Bar and Grill the second night, situated at the hotel. The food was amazing. I had the steak. During our last night in town, we again dined at the hotel, this time at Funky Claude's Bar, which was pretty good. I actually ordered lobster mac and cheese from the attached hotel restaurant, the Montreux Jazz Café, which was delicious. Recommendations: While visiting Montreux, I highly recommend going to Glacier 3000, Chillon Castle, and taking a boat ride on the lake. There is a dock where you can buy tickets about ten minutes (walking) from the hotel. Also, we had a rental car, so we drove Broc to visit the Maison Cailler chocolate factory, which I recommend. We then went to Gruyere, a nearby town (known for gruyere cheese). The old section of town is really charming, but the cheese factory is nothing special. Overall, I highly recommend this five star hotel!
I was here for business and hence did not have to pay the (high) bill myself. If the value for money is given I, fortunately, do not have to judge. The style of the hotel itself is that of a classic five-star hotel - and it feels like being thrown back 50 years in time: lavish corridors, expensive decor, huge ballrooms and impressive architecture overlooking the lake. If I book myself, I tend to use modern hotels, but it was a pleasant diversion. The service is attentive, with the typical grand hotel style: a bit stiff. The many bars and restaurants are lovely, and the pool right next to the lake is excellent. All in all: A real luxurious hotel, with indeed skyrocket prices. Go, if money doesn't
We stayed here for a business meeting for 5 days and can only say excellent Hotel. Rooms, service and location of the hotel is fantastic and for me one of best here. The meeting rooms have been excellent.
Wonderful place for a dinner in style or any special occasion. We took out 16 years old and a couple of friends for the birthday dinner. Starting from help with parking and keeping the car and onto the excellent and extremely fast service, the whole evening was a delight. The food was fabulous, and the surprise treat for the birthday girl was very touching. Very reasonable prices - 5 people, lots of food, puddings, and a bottle of champagne came to just over CHF 530. Needless to say, we will be back!
We have been visiting the Fairmont Montreux for a couple of times, but our last stay with our family was very disappointing. The rooms are getting old and need a renovation. The marquise to protect against sun in front of the window was broken and nobody was able to repair. Furniture is used and needs refurbishment (see photos), the bathroom was not clean. The atmosphere at the hotel has changed completely after Fairmont became Accor - unmotivated and unfriendly staff at the reception. The quality of the breakfast has decreased as well - but the staff at least is friendly here and still smiling. We realized also an unprofessional communication with clients : at check-in the front desk agent confirmed us that we can keep our room until 2 PM at the day of departure, which has been changed last minute and we had to leave the room at 12. All-in-all a very disappointing experience.
