About this property
The Castle | Majestic Lake View | Soak
The Castle has views! Wake in the morning to the sunrise views of the lake, have coffee on the veranda, or have breakfast with a view from the dining room. Relax with a book on the daybed with yet another view. The Rock-Ola Jukebox with 100 CDs & amazing sound takes entertaining & family connection to a new level. Enjoy while preparing meals. The foosball & arcade provide another level of fun. Video available upon request. After a day of hiking or skiing, soak in the jetted tub & sip a glass of wine. Pamper yourself with Essential Oils during your stay with the diffusers located throughout the home. AC is available for additional comfort in the summer. For a more natural cooling experience in the evenings, a Quiet Cool system is installed & pulls in the cool evening air while eliminating the warmer air. The Castle sleeps 8 (2870 sf) with 5 sleeping areas described in the listing as Bedrooms 1-4 including a loft. Three bedrooms are on the main floor (no stairs to access). The 4th sleeping space is on the upper level & includes bunk beds, 2 twin floor mattresses, & a Foosball table. On the same level is a full bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, & veranda. The living room has a daybed as another option for sleeping. The loft is above the upper level & has a futon & an Arcade with hundreds of games. All levels have panoramic views of the lake. Guests have commented that you have to experience the views in person - the pictures don’t do it justice. The Castle is located at the end of the street at a cul-de-sac. It sits apart from neighbors on either side with just trees on the end. The Tudor House is about a mile away & provides dining & entertainment. About the Area: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, & Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, & snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed & low-key energy “vibe” making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, & body & to reconnect with family & friends. We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes & have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area. Big Bear Lake is a public lake & friendly to all types of boats & water sports & is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike & walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City & is more populated with stores, restaurants, & nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a “desert” feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake & is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have permitted for guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity “lake access” will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront & is the main area for shops & restaurants & has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours & rentals. This area has more of a small town & alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler & gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter & is hotter in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes & narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch & a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead & Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory. Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events & locations “down the hill”. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, & boat, kayak, & canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area & the water park & no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed & more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, & thrift stores. Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline & Lake Arrowhead & is convenient to both lakes. It has its restaurants, shops, & thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal). To make this property affordable and reasonable for small groups there is an extra guest fee of $15 per person after 2 people.
Age minimum is 25 (families with kids welcome).
Parking is for 3 cars or 4 small cars; there is EV charging capability with a NEMA-14 outlet - you will need to bring your own cable.
The 4th bedroom (bunkbed/game room) is open to rest of the living space (no door) and has a closet.
For 28+ night stays, please inquire first (not instant book); the following deposits apply: - Refundable damage deposit is $100 - Refundable cleaning deposit is $350 - the cleaning fee is $290. The difference between this fee and the initial cleaning fee paid upon booking will be collected along with the deposits before check-in.
Immediately after booking you will receive our short rental agreement to review and accept.

This property is beautiful and so well appointed. The beds are comfortable. There is plenty of tableware and cutlery. the view is spectacular! Super fun touches of the juke box and the video games. On top of that, communication with the hosts was A Some things future renters should know... of note this is ALL in the house manual, but if you don't read it before you get there, you could get surprised.1)They don't supply propane and there may or may not be some left for you from a previous guest, so plan to get some if you want to use the grill2) The garage door code did not work for us. There is a work around - come into the house and open the garage door from the inside. It is not a deal breaker, at all, it just would have been nice if it had been working.

The house is big, clean and comfortable. I needed some place quiet to work and it was perfect. The host did a great job communicating. There are a couple things that maybe could use some updating, but the big thing is the view. You have it from every window and it's beautiful. I'm looking forward to another stay.

Stay was terrific. Great views from all windows. Perfect for a writing retreat. Balcony was especially nice for sunrise coffee. AC and WiFi worked very well. All the things I needed including plenty of towels, dishes etc. Great extras like Roku and suntan lotion and snack basket. Eric (name? Handyman) was very sweet and fixed stopper in sink that was stuck. Three very minor things: all your light labels have faded out but I experimented and figured most out, so no worries. There was plenty of lighting. The garage door I could never get to work from the outside despite trying over and over. But just opened from inside button.Still these are incredibly minor. The view and the comfy beds and couches and amazing balcony are the real stars. Plus everything was spotlessly clean.

Terrible communication with the owners/property managers
One of the main reasons we reserved this house was the jacuzzi tub overlooking the lake. Both days we tried to use it, it did not work, and we called and the handyman came over 5 hours later and walked in and scared us all. He did not fix it. They also were called several times to fix the TV so we could watch movies.... we called the first day, at 3:00 or so,... and we got a message at 630 saying the work hours are over for the day and to call back the next day. We called the next day, 2 gentleman came over and tried to fix the Tv and said.... " we need a teenager to fix this" ? needless to say, it was not fixed. The overall experience in a VRBO was bad.I have owned several VRBOs and managed them myself,... and to not get any follow up phone calls within a reasonable period of time, let alone the problems were never addressed really says alot about how they run their rental property. Not good, and I would never recommend this property... although the views were very nice but other than that, it was not worth it.

Wonderful home for a relaxing getaway
We enjoyed our time in the home very much. The communication with the host was excellent. The home is as advertised. It has all the cooking tools you need. The video game console was a big hit. We would rent this home again. The view from the balcony at dusk is stunning.

Excellent view
The view was excellent! We hosted a birthday party here, and everything went smoothly. The host responded quickly to any questions, and the place was clean and well-maintained.One thing I wasn’t aware of is that this property consists of two separate units stacked on top of each other, meaning the lower unit may also have guests. Additionally, the booking process was a bit unusual—navigating to another website for the contract and details felt a little confusing, making it seem like the reservation wasn’t directly through VRBO.Overall, though, I highly recommend this place!

Pretty but deceiving
Property had great views and purported to be luxury home but was at best a tired worn Luxury home Management presented an onerous 6 page "blanket" rental agreement with unreasonable or non applicable restrictions and provisions. To my dismay and not disclosure the property was shared with others in a lower basement unit We were surcharged for New Years stay which was expected but extra 15 fee for each additional guest was a bit excessive, and Management wanted an extra 20 to check in an hour early. At check in the pass codes to open doors didn't work and we had to than use the back up lock box key Some of the featured comforts where hard to figure out how to use like the gas fireplace, BBQ and the jacuzzi . The juke box was a nice touch but really didn't work right .There was no instruction manual or binder to describe the equipment or systems in the home -finally the the bed sheets where stained with cosmetics and other foreign material. We couldn't find any extra sheets or pillow cases. I would up load here but this review does not have this capability ? With some TLC and better orientation our stay could have been much better

Breathtaking views
This house had the best views of the lake and forrest from both levels. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is large with everything you need. Sky Park at Santa's Village is less than 10 minutes away and fun for the whole family. They have a bike park (lots of fun), hiking, a climbing wall, archery, axe throwing, and more. We were there after Memorial Day and there were very few people there.
Big Bear Lake is about a 40 minute drive and you can rent a boat there. Also, lots of hiking/biking trails.
Lake Arrowhead village is a 5 minute drive (>1 hour walking downhill) and there is a grocery store, shopping and restaurants on the waterfront. We had a great trip!
