I was nervous about booking this property because of some of the poor reviews. But I booked anyways because the location was right for our needs. Let me start by saying a don’t mind “rustic accommodations” but this place lacked care. There was trash from other guests in the fire pit, the yard and a bucket on the porch with waste. Upon entry it was clean, but as you go in there is a significant slope to the rear of the home, the linoleum is rippled, the porch is uneven with warped and has rotting boards that presented a serious trip and slip hazard. At the rear of the home is the bathroom. The shower required approximately 45 minutes between showers because of standing water build up. There were ample towels but it was my perception that they were there because the hosts are aware of the problem and this is their idea of a fix for now. I was travelling with my mother who is very spry but nearly 70 and I have several safety concerns. Additionally, there is no porch light, some of the lights in the home were burnt out and there was a lack of basic supplies like trash bags. When we attempted to follow the limited check out instructions and take out the trash, we found that it was pad locked shut. The neighbors informed us it was closed for the season, they agreed to take care of the trash for us. Lastly, my family that was camped nearby, came to fish in the afternoon, upon arrival we found that midway through our stay they pulled our dock without notice.

Northwoods Long Weekend

Super clean. Property is exactly how it is described in posting. water in the lake is crystal clear. there is a charcoal grill onsite. wish we could have stayed longer but had to get back to work and kids stuff. we rented a boat from JP's Northwoods Rentals, the boat ramp is three blocks from the cabin on Little Crawling Stone. We spent all day long on the water floating and fishing enjoying the scenery.

While the cabin was clean and the location was perfect for us, there should be some updates. We wanted to do dock fishing, but were nervous because of the condition of some of the dock boards. The railing on the deck needs replaced, as it is broken off on one side. We did enjoy relaxing at this property, mostly because it rained a majority of our visit.

Rustic but comfy.

The cabin is pretty rustic and could use some repairs and updating. It was spotless clean, very livable and well accommodated. Comfy beds. Great location and a very nice view.

Nice Lake View

The location of this property was best we have ever experienced on our annual vacation. The cabin was sufficient for what we needed, and the outdoor area made our week in the northwoods most enjoyable. The clear water and sandy beach were incredible and we very much enjoyed our stay!

Nice little cottage - needs updates

The Good: Outstanding location on a beautiful little ultra-clear water lake. We rented kayaks for the kids, and paddled and fished around the lake every morning and evening. We even ventured out to the Crawling Stone Lake a couple of times through the channel at the northeast corner of the lake. There was easy access to town and it's activities. That alone is all worth the price. The not-so good: While the cottage is clean, there were issues. We blew the kitchen fuse more than once while trying to make toast and coffee at the same time. This would shut down the electric in the kitchen and the kid's bedroom. The fuse box access was outside. The fuse box may need to be updated. There were holes in the screens. I put a bandaid over one hole in a living room screen to prevent mosquitos, but missed other holes. ...so they snuck in the cottage anyway. The weather was unexpectedly hot for that time of year in general, reaching the 90's, and we needed those windows open to cool off. ...Those screens need replacing. The front storm door doesn't close. Everytime you open the door, and forget to push or pull it shut, you'd let in more mosquitoes. That door needs to be replaced. They provided one box fan for air circulation, but even at it's highest setting, it didn't really move air. They should provide three new fans, one for the living room, and one each for the bedrooms. Lastly, the toilet is wobbly. Overall, we loved it - but it could be a bit better.

Over priced and Over rated

Over priced and Over rated. Several items need attention in this unit. Minimal information from owner. Owner not very responsive. Heat not working, had to wait for service call.

Great Stay

We had a great time at this cabin. The location was perfect, and the lake was wonderful. We assumed from pictures for the cabin that the raft was right in front of our pier, though it was actually in front of a different pier when we went. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay at this cabin!

Our family had a nice stay at this quaint little cabin right on Little Crawling Stone Lake. We enjoyed swimming, fishing off the pier, chilling on the deck & relaxing in the tranquility of the Northwoods .
