Terrible check-in experience!!!

Check-in was the worst I have ever experienced! We ended up getting there earlier than checkin time. I apologized for being early and asked if we could check in. The lady at the desk curtly said no we’re not checking anyone in early today with any further explanation. I told her we weren’t going to be able to check in before midnight otherwise because we were heading to the next town (in another time zone an hour ahead) for a concert for the night. She said that’s fine with no apology or courtesy at all. I asked her where the lobby restroom was because we’d just driven 5 1/2 hrs to get there, and she rudely said down the hall both ways but someone might be in there and you’ll just have to wait. After the concert, on our way to the hotel (around 1115 pm), someone I can only assume was her replacement called us to see if we were still planning to check in. I told him yes, we’re on our way now. His response was ok, we’ll hold those rooms for you then. Wait what?!? Did you really plan to give my prepaid rooms away because I wasn’t there and I tried to explain to the lady earlier we couldn’t check in at the regular time? Unreal!!! Other than checking in, the stay was fine. The hotel is a bit rundown and older looking. The beds and pillows were great! Shower was hot but lower water pressure. Breakfast was good.

After a previous visit that was good , we were met with a 3rd floor room and a broken elevator! Customers were charged triple the usual rate because of high demand in a busy holiday weekend, yet they were not willing to pay for an emergency elevator repair that would cost them much more due to the same holiday weekend that afforded them triple room fees. They also broke down their self serve breakfast before their 10:00 am cutoff.
