On Nov 23rd, we returned to the H10 Taburiente for the 4th time on Nov 23rd, on a package HB deal with Tui. I had emailed before asking for a room on 4th floor, overlooking the pool, sea and runway. It's a lovely spot as the balcony has sunshine virtually all day. We thought there were more flights than 3 yrs ago but the noise was never a problem as flights start about 8.30am and finish around 7.30pm. As before, the staff were friendly & helpful although the reception is frequently busy. The hotel rooms are being gradually refurbished, but we were not disturbed by noise from that. Our room was fine but hadn't been modernised. There was a wide selection of food, some being freshly cooked although there can be a queue if the hotel is full. There was live entertainment 5 of our 7 nights. The hotel is well situated on the sea-front, in the small town of Los Cancajos, with a Spar supermarket 30yds away, bus-stop across the road. The Tourist Info. Centre is just along the road & the staff can give all sorts of info. about the island & how the purchase of a 'Bono' bus pass, on the bus, is worthwhile. Not only are bus trips slightly cheaper with the use of the card, it saves rummaging for correct change. The 500 bus from the hotel goes to Santa Cruz & the airport. You can travel from Santa Cruz to all parts of the island for Euro 1.70. There are no theme parks, or night-clubs on the island but it's a great place for walking, if you can cope with the hills!
Handily situated just a few km from the airport...taxi 7 or 8 euros, bus 500 but not all buses low floor so not so easy then with luggage....this is a large modern hotel adjoining the sea. You can see and hear the planes landing but not really intrusive as not that many flights and take off is in the other direction. Good therefore for plane spotters although the ubiquitous Easyjet A320 can only excite a few I would think. We were upgraded to newly completed suite, very spacious, big shower room, fridge, coffee machine (no ingredients but there is a Spar shop adjacent), two big TVs, large comfy bed. Maybe the builders were rushing to complete as the standard of finish was not that good, for example water leaked out along the length of the shower cubicle. Shower gel and shampoo provided. Good daily housekeeping from pleasant staff. Hotel was very busy late November, quite a few German groups, and this was reflected in the crowded dining room at breakfast buffet time which with all the to-ing and fro-ing of plate clutchers and small queues at tea/coffee machines did not give a relaxing experience. Extensive impressive range of hot and cold dishes but quality was in some instances not good, for example insipid orange juice and tinned rather than fresh pineapple. Half board is not that many euros more but I am glad we elected to eat out in the evenings with good number of restaurants nearby with local specialities and not expensive, I would certainly not have enjoyed a repeat busy buffet performance. Hardworking and efficient staff clearing plates and replenishing the food counters. Nice bar areas with friendly staff but they do not take cash so you must have your hotel card with you and charge to your account. Pleasant areas for seating generally, well kept pool areas and low key entertainment some but not all nights, singers, local folk group etc. With the hotel being so busy, not easy to find a seat at times. Efficient reception staff but they are hard pressed at busy times so not really given to friendly chat. Bus stop outside the hotel, hourly and at certain times half hourly, and you can get to the capital Santa Cruz in about 10 minutes or so for just 1.37 euros as at time of writing. We enjoyed our few days to La Palma, interesting island and mainly mature tourists and found the hotel an ideal base.Would have enjoyed the breakfast experience more if not the mini Piccadilly Circus with food travelling in all directions and as readers will know I do loathe machines, tea.coffee, fruit juices and toast!
Very recently returned from a week stay at the Hotel H10 Taburiente playa, La Palma. I must admit that my expectations of this hotel were high as we had stayed here just last year. As per last year, the room was excellent, cleaned daily, very spacious and comfortable. There was adequate wardrobe space for us and a generously sized bathroom. The reception area is clean, bright and the staff are generally well presented and speak excellent English, the pool areas a spotlessly clean and tidy. On our second day we arrived at our room to find a complimentary basket of fruit acknowledging that this was our second visit to the hotel and thanking us for our return visit, which was a really nice touch! The hotel has quite a strict dress code for dinner and this is generally echoed at breakfast and lunch by guests. This is commendable and well worth the effort as the food is extremely well prepared and presented, usually! Unfortunately, during our stay the hotel was going through a refurbishment of its dining area! Every day there was some kind of disruption in the eating area and portions of the restaurant were sectioned of the pieces of black plastic, while guests were herded into smaller areas which did prove a little snug at times! It was not uncommon to be joined at lunch by some of the workforce getting their food, wearing clothes they had obviously been at work with all day, whilst in the background workers continued to use power tools to cut flooring and lay it! It kind of made a mockery of guests getting dressed up for meals and wasn’t particularly restful. On the whole the stay was very pleasant and I would certainly say that the evening entertainment has improved greatly in the last year, very enjoyable. It’s just a pity that guests couldn’t have been warned about the renovations, we may have better timed the return visit to miss them if given the opportunity. Just bad luck I guess?
Stayed a week late October, bonus was weather was fabulous.Had a room on the 1st floor overlooking pools was a little dated and some things not workinon going and I should think will be great once all is finishesg but was adequate. The main thing I found to be annoying was the lay out of the food in the dining room.nothing seemed to be where it should be and you were constantly wandering around trying to locate what you wanted. A lot of work in progress to improve the hotel is on going I will be great when finished. However I do think they need to rethink the restaurant as they were not coping very well with restocking food and cutlery and when all work is complete I feel they would be taking on too many people. That said it is in a good position and I did enjoy my week.
Hotel was being renovated when we were there in November. Our room was a suite and it seemed like we were the first to live in it. Very nice, a TV in the bedroom and one in the living room, a built in kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator and sink). Too little closet space for 2 people. We had all inclusive, the bar drinks were good you could get name brands which is very seldom in all inclusive. Breakfast was good, lunch was ok and dinner was a little disappointing. At dinner time they would start cooking meats on the grill first when the doors were open, created large crowds waiting for grilled meats. Selection was limited for dinner? Service at times seemed to be a little poor at times, it helped to speak Spanish to them but they were a little stressed at times (working 14-15 hour shifts). All in all we had a great 7 days. Good swimming pool!
This hotel is 5***** very good food we stayed half board the food was outstanding so much choice the breakfast was also very good all food was hot no complaints . The room was very clean we had a sea view no extra charge towels changed every day . there are some lovely bars round the area great place 🌴🌵💞
Lovely hotel right on the beach. Lovely views. All inclusive was great, one of the best I’ve had with all drinks included (not just local spirits as is the norm with all inclusive hotels) Rooms were ok, spacious enough for what we needed. Pool area was lovely and peaceful. We only stayed 2 nights as I was travelling alone with 2 children and there wasn’t much to keep them entertained here. I would say that the hotel was more catered towards older ladies/gentleman and couples, not really families. It was beautiful for the 2 days that we stayed but any longer and my kids would have been bored.
Great location, near the airport with sea views from most rooms. We had a Superior room facing the pool, the sea and the airport, lovely decor and so comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and obliging, excellent service from the bar staff. AI drinks were brilliant, with branded spirits available to AI guests. Pool areas were great, always beds available and in good, new condition. One pool was heated. Pool snacks were not that good, but that didn't bother us unduly. The only complaint I have is that the food could be better with perhaps more choice, also quite often trays were left unfilled resulting in queues, waiting for food to arrive. Cancajos is really quiet, but Santa Cruz is walkable(or get the 500 bus) and is worth a visit. Entertainment in the evenings was to our taste, usually singer(s)with people getting up to dance. No activities during the day, no animation team. If I was to return to La Palma, I would definitely stay at the Taburiente Playa, great for a relaxing holiday in a lovely hotel.
We visited La Palma for a week at beginning of October and don't regret it at all that we spent it in H10 La Taburiente Playa. The hotel is located on the east coast of the island in the small holiday place Los Cancajos. It's about 4 km south from the capital Santa Cruz della Palma and about the same distance north from the airport. We had a hired car and it was never a problem to find a parking space. A car is very handy, top sights and starting points for activites can be easily reached from the hotel. Next to the hotel is the beautiful black sand beach 'playa de los cancajos', which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There are plenty of colourful fishes, crabs and starfishes close to the rocks. Rooms and bathroom are spacious and have a balcony, which faces the mountains, sea or swimming pool area. From our balcony, facing the sea, we could also see Santa Cruz in the distance. Although there is the all inclusive option, we went for half board, which was totally sufficient for us. Breakfast and dinner buffets offer a variety of yummy food, we always ended up eating more than we intended to. As a pescatarian I was pleased with the choice of fish and seafood dishes as well as the vegetarian options. The chef does not ignore vegetarian guests. At dinner you have to check in at the entrance with your room number and receive a blanko invoice where waiters record your drinks. You keep the carbon copy. Same procedure at the bar. The bill has to be paid at the end of the stay at check out. We didn't bother to check our bill properly and noticed only at home that we were incorrectly charged 12,80 euros for bar drinks on a day where we didn't even vist the bar. Not sure how this happened but I can only recomment to check the drinks bill. This is the only negative point to mention. The evening entertainment is decent, rather late night atmosphere than big party There were acrobats, DJs, folklore dance groups, cover bands and solo entertainers. What I really appreciated was the absence of annoying animateurs. In the open plan foyer climbing plants and ferns are drooping from top to bottom, which looks very pretty. In the lower level is an artificial waterfall that is switched on the evening. On some evenings there are stalls selling local arts and crafts products. Top marks to all staff. Receptionists, cleaners and waiters were friendly, helpful and professional.
This hotel is situated in a quiet area within Los Cancajos, situated on the rugged coastline, very close to the airport ( it is visible from the hotel) and close to the beach (5 mins walk), there is a Spar close to the hotel and a coupe of other shops including the Orlando car hire which is extremely handy for picking up and dropping off the car. There is plenty of free and easy parking around the hotel. Unless you are looking for a pool side holiday I would advise car hire in order to explore the very best of this Island though the 500 bus also stops outside the hotel and will take you into the Capital of Santa Cruz. You can also walk into Santa Cruz. It is about 3 miles and an hours walk and involves some steps so a reasonably amount of puff is required. You can however just jump on the 500 bus back with great ease. Back to the hotel:- The first room we occupied was 4244 which is one of the new rooms. Very modern and bright, with two large TV's, one in the bedroom and one in the living area, two comfortable beds, a sofa, table, safe (had to be paid for), wardrobe, hair dryer, toothbrush, comb, shower gel, shampoo, walk in shower with lovely large shower heads (snagging required on the shower as it leaked onto the floor), microwave, good size fridge. Also provided was some kind of coffee machine but not coffee or milk to go with it?, over all a lovely room. Downside is the balcony had no view as such only residential area and some rubble from the building works below with the smallest glimpse of the sea. We then changed rooms due to WiFi issues to 290 ( I think?) this was an old room which needed modernising in all respects but the view was great out to sea and Santa Cruz on the head land, but the wifi still didn't work. I am not making too much of this as it could have been my partners old Laptop being the issue. Anyway it was good to see the contrast of the old rooms and the new. It's a work in progress but definitely ask for a new room with a view. We went half board and on the whole had no real complaints though the food was sometimes tepid and there was obvious using of left over food being used the next day in the guise of something else. However generally speaking there is a wide choice at breakfast and dinner in buffet format and also there is a person cooking some fish or meat each evening. It was not the greatest quality I have had in a hotel but not the worst either. I didn't starve! The staff and cleaning were good and the same can be said for the pool areas. There is also a ping pong table and a couple of pool tables. There was entertainment in the evenings and these were enjoyable and varied. On the whole I would recommend the hotel though there is work on going at the moment. Part of the restaurant was closed towards the end of our stay though to be honest this did not disturb us.
