I had a wonderful stay at the thousand Kyoto. The staff were friendly and professional. The facilities were well kept and had well appointed amenities. I would definitely look to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Kyoto looking for convenience and a five star accommodation experience.

The Thousand Hotel is excellent- the location next to the train station is very convenient. Rooms were very comfortable and roomy. Breakfast buffet was delicious and well varied food selection. The lobby was very attractive. I highly recommend the hotel.

My husband and I had a great stay here. It was our first time in Japan and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The super king room had a huge bed (could easily hold 4 people if needed), and a large bathroom area. The AC worked very well. The location was perfect for getting public transportation, and there were a 7-11 and restaurants within walking distance. A beautiful hotel also.

Convenient location and room is clean and spacious. Gym unfortunately is below par. I expect better gym facilities than this. To be fair, I only used the treadmill. The spotlight is right on top of each treadmill, making it really hot and too bright for anyone’s comfort. No one manning the gym even though I was there at 630pm. So I couldn’t turn up the air conditioning. The treadmills were also all in japanaese, making it less tourist friendly. Other than that, it is an excellent hotel at a superb location. Staff are friendly and speak decent English.

This hotel is well-located both for transportation and dining near Kyoto Station. The common areas are elegant and artistic and the rooms comfortable and quiet. It had one of the best shower areas I’ve ever experienced. The AC temperature was a bit challenging to control and the lighting is, as in most of Japan, complicated. There were dirt marks on the walls. The staff, though welcoming and polite, could be a little better informed (front desk receptionist gave us inaccurate information regarding our package and room maids seem confused about dirty v clean glasses and wash clothes ). Still, I’d stay here again.

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had so far. Had a 90 minute flight to massage that was amazing as well. I’ll always stay here when in town. I cannot recommend a hotel enough. The hotel was an excellent value for me, with the exception of breakfast being too expensive. (If it isn’t included with the room, go to one of the outside nearby cafes.). I especially appreciated the high end surroundings, a spacious room by Japanese/Kyoto standards and a good 24 hour gym with all the basic necessities for weight training or cardio. The hotel is only 3 minutes away from the central entrance to Kyoto station, which makes it an excellent base for taking trains to the various temples of Kyoto and thereby having a good option for sightseeing on your own. It is also highly convenient for those taking the bullet train to and from Tokyo. These considerations make it one of the best locations in Kyoto, though another location strategy would be to stay in a charming neighborhood (which I previously did in Kyoto). The concierge was very helpful in assisting me to see Kyoto in do-it-myself mode, which was feasible.
