I stayed for 3 nights. The room was spacious and clean, though curtains were gray and dusty. The furniture and bathroom are old. I enjoyed tasty breakfast in beautiful and huge restaurant. This hotel has historical value and should be refurbished soon. In that case, I will visit it again.

This was our first contact with Opatija and i must say that it was absolutely perfect! The 1885 hotel completed the wonderful scenery of Opatija with an incredible room with sea view. The entire hotel and rooms are built in the old architectural style of habsburgic empire. The furniture is old, but well mentained. There is no air conditioning but we didn t need one, because the room was so spacious and the windows so wide. The dinning room assembles a ballroom, with wide mirrors, curtains, carpets and chandelieres. The food is great, very diversed, fresh, tasty. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a parking fee. All in all a delightful experience!

We didn't expect too much of this hotel and with that attitude you can't be disappointed. Old hotel, without air conditioning, and with small cosmetic changes. Stuff are very polite but they can't do too much in such environment. Rooms are big and you can hardly find that in modern hotels

We stayed at the Hotel Imperial as a three day add-on to a Kvarner Islands cruise. This was the 3 star option that we were allocated on arrival. We chose not to pay the extra for 4 star as we have stayed in many comfortable and well equipped 3 star hotels over the years and assumed that this would be no different. I particularly wanted to provide a review for anyone looking at something similar as a word of warning. Firstly, the good things about the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is located in the centre of things - well positioned for all of Opaitija's attractions and next to a supermarket (essential for cold water) and a bank with an ATM machine. There are a number of good restaurants in the vicinity. Now the less good bits. The hotel and it's public areas are imposing, but tatty. The rooms would barely scrape a 2 star rating in the UK. The rooms are tatty, furnished with furniture that your nonogenarian autie would have sent to the tip and generally lacking care, attention and maintenance. For example neither the sink or the shower "tub" had plugs. In the second room we stayed in, if you were the first person to take a shower for a while in your part of the hotel it could take 10 minutes for the water to heat up. There are fans in the room, but no air conditioning. We actually stayed in two rooms and had a double where the bed was alright, but a twin where the beds were not comfortable and noisy for all but lightweight sleepers. Even given the relatively low heat when we stayed (a few days of unseasonably stormy weather had kept the temperatures down), you had to sleep with both the fan on and the windows open, which in any room other than those at the back means noise from outside. Even at the back where the view is of a building site the quiet only lasts until the workmen start. The included breakfast was okay - the omlette (if you got there before the coach parties of elderly people had eaten it all) was good. However there was weak juice from a machine and coffee that tasted okay but smelled strangely of chemicals. So, in summary a well positioned hotel that could have been pretty swish in the glory days of the Austria-Hungarian empire, but that probably hasn't been decorated since...

One of the many, large and oldtimey hotels in Opatija. The dining hall is very large with several tables with different foods. There is little change throughout the week, but it's served hot and the bowls/plates never stay empty for long. The staff takes dirty plates away quite fast. We arrived pretty late in the evening and there was a plate of dinner for both of us on our room, which was very nice since we didn't expect anything. We had sea view which was very enjoyable but the balcony only had place for one chair. There is no airconditioning or fridge in the room so it can get pretty warm inside. The beds were made every day and the towels refreshed, but I don't think anything else got actually cleaned. There is a lot of traffic passing by, which can be quite noisy. The internet connection is really good, in case anyone's wondering. I personally really liked the look of the hotel, because I don't mind some chips missing in furniture. Maybe a renovation to restore the old glory will make it more attractive.

On arrival car parking was an issue as all hotels do not offer free parking, 09:00 ~ 19:00hrs you are charged everyday. If you are lucky you can park in hotel grounds but you are charged a daily fee 75kuna. We were allocated room 112 a sea view standard room. This room was very dated with old damaged furniture, carpet was dirty and smelt quite musty. The room was in need of a total refurbishment. Will say the sea views were quite impressive. Public areas, dining room, bar and reception clean and bright but I wasn't sleeping there. I chose this hotel from their website gallery, can honestly say pictures did not resemble the actual experience, poor !!! The breakfast choice was acceptable with a buffet style evening meal being offered, couldn't understand why so busy around 7pm ? later found out "Free drink" was offered till 9pm as part of the 110kuna price. Another quality hotel was offering same for 90kuna. Will say I had thoughts of moving Hotel, but my stay was only 3nights before moving on, this was definitely the worst standard hotel experienced in my 6 years of touring Croatia. I'm back to Cavtat in September

We stayed at this hotel for easter and we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the room. And the view was jaw dropping. The food was great too. The location is great. Right in front of the hotel is the beach witch is very nice and good for taking photos. The hotel is definitely worth the money.

From the outside it's quite impressive, although the front is flaking (but to be fair that's the case for almost all hotels in Opatija). The breakfast-room is beautiful as are the other larger rooms. It really has the charme of gone imperial days. The room I had, had a little balcony and was facing the sea. A small room, but clean. A very comfy pillow! The staff was very nice and helpful. I had my little dog with me, and they were very considerate with the cleaning of the room. I had to leave him alone couple of hours a day, and they only entered the room when he was out with me, and even cleaned the room a lot later than normal. One negative thing (for coffee junkies as myself): the coffee at breakfast is absolutely undrinkable!

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and although it was reasonably priced that is about all it has going for it. Very old and not very clean. Bed and floor creaked with any movement. Bathroom was pretty bad with a dirty shower curtain. So small an area. Phone didn't work in the room and although it was mentioned on day 1 when we complained about the noise coming from the next room, the phone was never fixed. Internet didn't work the first day but after that was ok. Breakfast was just ok. Fruit was awful looking. We ended up just having toast and a bit of omelette most mornings. It was very convenient to the water and eating places but so are a lot of other hotels. Wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel is great with a beautiful breakfast room. The room was good too if just needed a upkeep. Cleaning was some days better than others. Rooms had no air conditioning, this was said on the reservation so my bad. But wouldn't book it again because of having no AC. People who work there are very kind!
