It’s a great experience I’ll tell you that. the food... damn, it’s delicious. you don’t need to drop a sweat finding sarawak signature food because they will serve you every single sarawak dishes at breakfast. besides that, there is a decent swimming pool and well equipped gymnasium. highly recommend it.
Stayed here with my extended family for my brothers engagement. We rented one 3-bed apt, two 2-bed apts and a deluxe room. Pros - view from one of the 2-bed apts was great, saw the NYE fireworks with a front row seat in the “living room”. Cons - 3 bed apt looked like something out of the exorcist. Wallpaper peeling off throughout, mold on the walls, fridge that didn’t work propped up by a ball of newspaper on one of the legs, mold on the sideboard along the floor. We asked for a different room and they changed it. The replacement room was better cosmetically but smaller, came with only 3 towels (room slept 5), water would pool up from the drains after using the sink/tub and water smelled bad, mold in the bathroom (could have been removed by just giving it a thorough clean). I’m appalled that they even attempted to give us the first room. The 2-bed apts were just ok, had the same problem of water pooling in the bathrooms coming up from the drains and smelled bad. Mold in bathrooms too. We asked for an extra pillow and were told it would cost RM10. Deluxe room had a toilet that would not flush properly. Asked the maintenance to fix it, they did, however the problem returned after the 2nd night. Asked the receptionist to send someone, nobody came. Had to just deal with the anxiety of flushing the toilet 6-7 times before it was clear. Bathroom had mold on tiles and floor. Shower smelled awful when the water was running. Tiny ants near the kettle. Stains on the carpet. This hotel only deserves a 2 star rating at most. I wouldn’t mind if it was just run down and outdated. The lack of proper cleaning and upkeep is despicable. Housekeeping staff need to be taught how to clean rooms and bathrooms properly. Long story short, do not stay here if you care about basic hygiene. Trip advisor should not recommend this hotel.
Hotel is close to the new Hanna Bridge and waterfront. We booked a 3 bedroom suite. Its very huge for 5 of us. Staff are friendly. Hotel is old. Found some unknown things on the carpet. You need to call housekeeping for them do deliver the refrigerator.toilet was leaking and we called the plumber a few times. Overall good for the price paid.
Stayed at this hotel with family over the weekend for the first time. Read review first before booking and must say most are pretty accurate in terms of dated furniture and poor room condition requiring fixing up. Walls are pretty thin so you can hear the noise from below despite staying at the top level and noise from neighbouring rooms. Had to call reception one time to complain about neighbouring room noise as people were partying at 4 am. Thankfully, they took immediate action to get security to intervene. Bed are not comfortable and pillows are too soft. Even comforter were old and ragged, ours had holes and were torn. Even after requesting to change bedsheet, only bedsheet were changed but the old ragged comforter remained. Room had cigarette smoke smell. Carpet were stained. Toilet hose needs fixing as it tends to drip water. Breakfast was also mediocre in terms of taste. Swimming pool is small and always full. Noticed that this hotel mostly patrons local families looking for a weekend getaway. However, despite the cons, need to acknowledge a few positives such as the good customer service, large rooms and central location to shops. That's it. Overall verdict, i wouldnt stay here again as a tourist as i would prefer to be able to sleep comfortably without the noise interuption.
For work or short stay, i recommended this place. Near to shopping complex. Area full with uber. Easy to going to city centre. Room i stayed not equip with bathtub. Cozy .. room bigger.. Anyway nice hotel.
very grand lobby area and friendly staff but overall quality of the room is average. furnitures and bed are old but fair enough to catch a snooze before an early morning meeting/appointment the next day. walking distance to a mall so that is a plus point.
Please do not book this hotel for your stay in Kuching. I can guarantee it will be a disappointment. 1) Bedroom has ants everywhere on the walls 2) Beds even have ants crawling all over the sheets 3) Toilet flush doesn't work 4) Broken and old furniture in the room 5) Pillow (only 1 pillow provided) was dirty and stained with pen ink and other stains. Absolutely disgusting. 6) No plug-points by the bed side 7) Terrible service from the staff 8) Toilet is dirty and something's are broken. 9) Wifi connectivity is poor. Almost non existent.
This was my second time staying in this hotel. Last year, I stayed with friends in their apartment suite(2 rooms). This time I stayed alone in their Superior Room. The staffs were nice and friendly. The hotel room was so small. Not clean as everything including furniture fitting and carpet were old and dated. The room was tiny. The one of three pin sockets and room safe were not working. Even the telephone socket was falling off the wall.. I had to try to fix the cable connection a few before I could get phone line. I could also spot a few ants in the wall!! The suite we stayed in last year was not impressive either. The real reason we came back to stay here was it's location just next to the starting and finishing point of Kuching Marathon. We ate in their restaurant because of heavy rain. Food was mediocre and expensive. If I were to run the marathon again, I would try to stay in another hotel.
Ok...so just got back after a lovely weekend with my 2 boys. Not sure where to start the positives or negatives. Well start with positives. I booked into a 2 bedroom apartment. The place was clean, comfortable spacious and nice and cool. We had beautiful views of the museum, as well as the town. We were lucky to enjoy the fireworks on our first night. In the morning we went for breakfast which costed 22ringits per person. Children under 5 ate free. That was a bargain...and the breakfast was delicious and beautiful selection of both local and continental choices. We then decided to pop in for a swim. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the pool. A bit small for a large hotel but never the less, they had fun. For lunch we decided to take a stroll to the merdaka plaza, literally 5 mins walk. Then we strolled back to the Sarawak museum which was behind the hotel. All with 10 mins walking from the hotel and back. We decided to have dinner at the hotel. 60 ringgit per buffet. Seems a lot but kids ate free....now to me that's a bargain too. The staff at the aurora restaurant as well as reception where amazing. Lissa, nazeen, siti, saiful Mohammed, asalam, daisy where all amazing. Siti sand saiful Mohammed definitely deserve my 5 stars. They were amazing with my boys... Now the negatives.. The place needs a good revamp. Although it was comfortable, u can tell some major renovation needs doing. My bathroom leaked, but maintenance where in hand straight away. The pool was over crowded...but the boys enjoyed it. Overlall... this place was amazing. Yes...could book somewhere else for the amount I spent, but customer service was 100% and we will surely be back. Siti and saiful Mohammed...keep smiling... Love all the way from Liverpool with my 2 boys. 😍😍😍
Lousy lousy customer service. Planned to stay 2 nights in the hotel with a voucher we got through our company (MMA) for 70% off the normal room rate. WOW! Excellent. Called the hotel up and quoted the normal room rate as being RM320 for the 2 bedroom apartment suite and no other rooms available for the night. (Rm320 x 70% off/night = RM96/night. Not bad) Went over there with our vouchers at hand and was excited to have a relaxing stay. Greeted by the front desk and was told to wait a while as she needs to discuss with the manager (No problem). Waited about 20-30minutes before the manager asked us to approach the front desk lady for our rooms (finally, but no problem, chill). Suddenly quoted a price of rm650++ for 2 nights (this must be a mistake?). Asked the lady nicely how that amount came about. Was told room per night would cost rm1150!!! (What?? how did rm320 jumped to rm1150?) With shock and utter disbelieve we asked her again how such price came to be (poor girl was filled with anxiousness and blushing hard, feeling sorry for her but still) She was constantly walking in and out of the office and seeming to attempt to call what I suppose is the manager who appears to have 'ran' away and left the poor receptionist to handle us (which clearly she doesn’t know how that price came to be) 30 minutes in. What to do ya know, big manager finally had the balls to man up and show up. Saying with utter confident the room rate is rm1150 if we were to use the voucher (rm1150x70%= RM345/NIGHT WITH B'FAST mind you) and that the public normal rate is rm320 (with a huge huge emphasis that it doesn’t include any breakfast). Happily he mentioned that we need to take into account that if we were to add in breakfast for 2, it'll be more expensive (rm42/person for breakfast). RM345/night with breakfast using voucher of 70% and RM 404 for normal rate with breakfast. Basically with the magic (much wow) voucher of 70%, we're saving rm50 if we were to include breakfast worth rm42/person (although scouring through the reviews, no one is happy about it even when it was free) With a straight and triumphant face, our manager (MR JORIS) happily says that the big nice voucher can save us rm50 and is not useless which I claim to be. Basically they charge the public a normal rate of rm320, and marks up the price to rm1150 when we want to apply a voucher which clearly states it was meant for a normal rate room. Mind you, booking.com can get us the same exact room for rm220 (with breakfast if you're wondering). A savings of rm100 more than the normal rate!! Management here is just ludicrous and incompetent to say the least. With so many lousy reviews here, one wonders how they can still operate without shame. Please find somewhere else to stay, clearly the management are lacking quite a fair bit. Big shout out to Mr Joris (our wonderful manager) for making us wait nearly an hour till 11.30pm and hiding behind a poor receptionist who had to keep up with our shocks and disbelief. You da man! P/S pls let us rate 0 stars
