Historic type area. Many things to do within walking distance
Good location, friendly staff, historic charm, and 24-hour self serve coffee/tea/water station. Happy staying here.
good location on main street but room view was of brick wall about 2' away. room had moldy odor and no heat available on a damp, chilly evening. tv/internet didnt work. Room was so small required taking turns walking from one side of room to another. No chair in room, only bed for sitting. no elevator so luggage carried 3 flights. Room was the right size for an elevator so maybe they could add one instead of the corner room which was a disapointment.
I, liked the history of the Gilmore Hotel, and the whole towns history. We had a very nice time visiting Ketchikan,Alaska,USA.
The walls are paper thin. Could hear an entire 45 min call from neighbor at 2am.
The property is old, but it was clean and comfortable. They provided quick taxi service to the ferries that shuttled us to the airport. The staff was very friendly and willing to help us with multiple requests.
Arrived late on ferry. Had never been to Ketchikan and my cell internet would not work. I called the hotel and asked for directions. Front desk staff was new to the area as well he said but he gave me directions. They were horrible directions and I roamed around for 45minutes looking for the hotel. Arrived and stood at front desk forever as the clerk, who I strongly suspect was high, could not figure out computer system, etc. he did take my bag up to the room for me though. Room: no towels at all! Called front desk. No answer. Got towels next morning. Bed was very only box spring mattress and extremely soft. Bedding itself was over-used and needs to be thrown out and replaced. Tiny room, no AC, opened window and a brick wall was my view and it was about 3-6 feet away - blocking any kind of airflow into the room. Will never come here again!
The views of the harbor were amazing! The location is also quiet. The rooms are spacious and had everything I needed. The room was also in perfect condition. I would absolutely stay here again.
Hotel Gilmor is an old hotel, with small rooms, tiny bathrooms and no cupboards to put your cloths. It is completely old fashioned with old carpets, old blankets, old everything. Its a sad hotel
It’s very good value for money. The hotel is really well located in walking distance to everything. They provided a taxi free of charge to pick us up from the ferry and drop us off. The room was smallish but very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and there was a great restaurant attached to the hotel. The negatives were no lift and really cramped foyer which made it really crowded when checking in and out.
Hotel was dirty, loud, and damp. Heater didn’t work and I was freezing. They wouldn’t switch me to a different room. Staff was not helpful and not friendly at all. Hotel claimed to have free breakfast during booking, but when I got there they said they stopped serving free breakfast a long time ago.
Checked in an room had not been cleaned from previous guest. Girl said give her 15 minutes. She was back in 5 saying it was done. Positive she didn't change sheets, just made the bed. As this was the last affordable room in town I slept on top of comforter.

We apologize that your experience was lackluster. The hotel does have view rooms available at a higher price point so that's always an option for our guests. We do not advertise that we have an elevator. However, our staff is always available to assist in carrying luggage. The hotel was built in 1927 and is solid concrete. It is not structurally possible to just install an elevator.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience and giving us a 4 star review. The hotel is indeed old, as it was built in 1927, and we try very hard to maintain it's original charm with modern amenities. We are glad to hear that your room was clean and comfortable and that you enjoyed the taxi service and service. We hope to see you again soon.

We apologize that your experience was lackluster and wish that we cold have addressed your concerns in person. The airport is 3 miles from the hotel and to there is one main road. It is very unfortunate that you drove around for 45 minutes. Our hotel does have mattress and not just box springs. As is customary with most hoteln is Alaska air conditioning is not standard. We do have ocean view rooms available but to accommodate our guests we offer products in different price points. We have fans available upon request. We hope that you have a better experience on your next trip to Ketchikan.
Thank you for staying with us!
