I love the Yak! What I don't love is that Orbitz tripled the price of my plane tickets to Pokhara, then cancelled the flight due to smoke, and now won't give my money back on the return flight. I WILL NEVER USE ORBITZ AGAIN!! Ripoff!!!!!!
Stayed here two times--for a few days before our trek, and a couple of days after our trek. No hot showers on the first stay, but the showers were nice and hot the second stay. There were fewer people in the hotel on the second stay. Got some food poisoning at the end of my stay.

This property is old and the recommended by the U.S. organizations as it i meets the U.S. standards for safety. But it is an old hotel, bathroom smells of urine, no plugs in normal range. Everything is under the tables or behind the end table. They only give three towels, no face towel. These are first world issues. But for the cost you are paying you do not get the items you need. The people are great. But I am sure the management just wants to make money and cut the cost down.
Did once in a lifetime helicopter trip to Himalayas. Unbelievable but at a cost.
I enjoyed staying there - we stayed there on each end of our Nepal trip. Airport transfers were fast and free. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty at times, but it was functional.
It was a great experience being in this hotel. I think it is the best place you can be in Kathmandu. Inside the hotel is like a heaven and it is different from outside. Nice breakfast, great behavior of stuff, etc. I was happy there.
