A good home base in Kanazawa City

The property was extremely well situated. It was a 15 or 20-minute walk to Kanazawa Station, Omicho Market and Kanazawa Castle. It's in a very quiet neighborhood, but neighbors passing by seemed not to be put out at the fact that they had tourists in their midst. Taller (175 cm+) people should be aware that the doorway from the stairs to the bedroom will require some stooping. Once past this, though, the bedroom ceiling is a fine height. The one complaint we had was that the kitchen, though furnished with pots, pans and dishes, lacked condiments of any kind. The owner would do well to at least stock salt, pepper and cooking oil.

Great stay--highly recommended for families!

We stayed two nights at Hisago UMA and loved it. We were warmly welcomed by Toji upon arrival, and he explained everything we needed to know about the house and the surrounding area. Great recommendations for restaurants, and sights, too! The house itself is great—super clean (like everything in Japan) and filled with every convenience we could have asked for. We particularly enjoyed the living area with couch and comfy dining room table. It's very spacious and well planned (the interior is modern with thoughtful traditional touches). I also really appreciated the quick, clear communication regarding our booking and any questions I had—these guys are on top of it! Finding the house was not a problem thanks to the great map that's provided on their site. We would definitely stay at this house again when we return to Kanazawa.
