Wedding weekend
Third bedroom was not described very well. A walk thru room with included the front door. A trundle bed and a very small room. Needed coasters and the fans were filthy. Other than that, all was well. Description said a path led to the beach. Not so. Unless you would have an 80 year old climb over lava rocks.

Not as expected
We booked this house knowing there was no ac but hoping we could swim in the ocean to cool off. Unfortunately there was no safe access into the water. The house stayed HOT. It did not start to cool down until 11pm.
The 3rd bedroom is not a bedroom, its an entry way with a bed in it.
The wifi didn't work which is not usually a big deal except one of our group had to work from home a couple days and wasn't able to. We reached out to the property managers and was told we would get a call back, which never came.
We ended up having to cut our stay 2 days short and go to our next destination early which cost us a lot of extra money.
The view was beautiful.

THIS PLACE WAS A RIPOFF!
This place had dirty floors spilled spots on kitchen cupboard, no soap provided, no toilet paper, floors uneven and dangerous, scum in the showers, terrible street noice, ants everywhere, 3rd bedroom in entry, no exhaust fans in kitchen, mold in showers. No shade on deck, cabinet knobs all grimy, refrigerator dirty, sink in bathroom slow draining, stepdown from bedroom to living room 3" had to cover with rug so didnt trip. Stand alone fans falls over all the time. Tiny soap bar and dont work. Neighbors gardner loud noise at 7:00 am every week.
Priced for March no when we visited.

Gorgeous view
The view at this location is everything! Amazing for watching the sun set. The house had comfortable space for the four of us. Kitchen was sufficient, some water toy supplies were included in the back closet. Lots of fans, definitely needed even in June.

Loved the house. The sunsets were world class. Easily accommodated two adults and four 16-18 year olds. We really loved being able to walk to shopping and restaurants.

Kona beach cottage with excellent location
Great location: expansive deck with spectacular ocean views. Walking distance to Kona town restaurants and stores. Small local beach virtually next door. Property has chairs and some snorkeling equipment included.
One cautionary note is third bedroom: it is has trundle bed and is smaller than other two.
We enjoyed our stay and are sorry to leave our vacation home!

Great Location
We stayed at this property for 10 days in early December. We found it to be clean and comfortable. Yes, it does get pretty hot in the house in the late afternoon, so we just walked to Kona for early dinner every evening. We enjoyed the short walk to town. There's a great little beach just a couple of houses down and it was never very crowded.
We really appreciated the large driveway. Ali'i is a very busy road, but the big driveway allows you to turn around and not have to back out into traffic every time you go somewhere.
The Tea-Licious bakery is just around the corner and they have fresh croissants and pastries every morning for breakfast.
The view from the Lanai is amazing!
If you go grocery shopping before you check-in at the house, don't forget to buy shower soap, toilet paper and ice.!! These amenities are in very short supply.

Charming Hawaii home
The home was exactly what was listed. Word for the wise. Plan your days so you are out of the home between 3pm and 6pm. The beautiful sunset (that you don’t want to miss is also the hottest part of the day. The sun sets right through the amazing back wall of windows. We did purchase a sun canopy, which we left for future guests, that we put up in front of the window to help with the suns glare. We loved the location. Plan on spending whole day trips if you are wanting to spend time in the Hilo area.

Big Island
The house is as advertised. Directly ocean front, rocky to get in and out of the water but worth it for the great snorkeling. We saw dolphins everyday from the deck. Great location just far enough from town to avoid the noise at night and close enough to go to dinner etc. We walked up the road to Tea-licious a small coffee shop and had a wonderful breakfast and coffee.
Only negative is we were there when it was 90 degrees which is unusual for the big island the master bedroom could us a window air conditioner just to cool the room off then turn off for night sleeping since there is only one window for the trade winds. We did know the house did not have air conditioning but we are use to 100 plus summers at home but not used to the humidity.
Had a great time and would rent the house again.
Grand View Vacations rentals gets an A plus for fantastic customer service.

Great location and sunset views
House is open and airy. Plenty of space for 5 adults. The entry space with bed was perfect for our grandson. The weather was super hot during our stay and the house has no A/C -plenty of fans though, we slept comfortably at night. Location is walking distance to Honi Beach, shopping, dining and grocery store. This is an older home but would definitely rent again

Beach house with great location and View but some updates needed
My wife and I stayed at this property for 10 days in mid-August 2018. Overall, the property has a lot of the big things right.......a back deck that extends nearly to the water's edge with a 180 degree view of the water and within walking distance to Kailua-Kona (about a 10 minute walk). It has its own driveway for parking and the property itself is fairly private. Doors to back deck all open out to let the wave sounds and tradewinds in. Very nice.
Free, secured wi-fi was a nice amenity in the house considering spotty mobile coverage on the island generally. TV is cable/sat although we didn't use it much.
The Washer and Dryer are outside (because if they were inside it would just make the house hotter and more humid! ). They worked great and were very handy.
House fairly well equipped with kitchen pots and pans/utensils, microwave, etc. Closet full of fins, snorkel and water sport gear.
Snorkeling in front of the house itself was surprisingly good. You just enter the water from the small beach about 100 yards to the North and snorkel back to the house. Lots of reef fish, some turtles also. Bring binoculars, Dolphins pass by in pods about 2-3 times a day.
No Air /Conditioning, but LOTS of fans available to use and place around the house. When we were there, it was nearly record heat and humidity on the big island (90 degrees and about 79% Humidity). It takes a few days to acclimate to that kind of climate. No way around that.
The fans helped a lot, but the trade winds died down a lot during our stay and it was a challenge to keep the house cool in the middle of the day. We just went out and enjoyed the island and the got in the water during mid-day to avoid the heat/humidity.
Okay, the big things about the property are great...but.... some little things kept us from giving this property a higher rating:
When we got there, house was not cleaned completely. People spray suntan lotion and other things in the tropics on themselves and it gets on the walls, cabinet doors. They were not wiped down and they should have been. The floors also needed a quick mop.
The place needs to upgrade a few things..... Door knobs, latches, the hinges on the Water-facing doors are rusted and need replacing. Outside chaise lounges need repair. Not huge things, really.... but it does cheapen the look of the place a bit.
Fix/address these items and you would find your ratings on this property going higher.

It’s Kona. On the ocean. Sunsets.
There are pros and cons with this property.
Pros: it’s literally on the ocean’s edge although sitting on volcanic rock. The beach is a couple of minutes walk. A bit longer walk and you have nice restaurants and bars. The house has all you need for cooking and dining including a kettle BBQ on the deck; if you’re lucky you might get briquettes and lighter fluid left over from previous guests! They also left whiskey and rum!! We left similar items plus a few beers. For beach lovers there were chairs, umbrellas, water toys and body boards, mask and snorkels.
Cons: no disrespect to HomeAway but it’s not really 3 bedrooms in a privacy sense. The “3rd” bedroom is the entryway to the house and has a single bed plus a trundle underneath. We had 2 couples and a single so it worked....
There are cockroaches! It’s hawaii on the coast so maybe to be expected.....so expect and try to ignore. They were mainly outside. There are ants but killer spray was kindly left. There is no A/C but lots of fans and we left windows open. It was OK but I fear the heat of full summer here.
The TV had vertical black lines but you don’t want to waste time watching when you’re on a beautiful island like this. Enjoy yourselves!!

Good Property, Great Property Management!
The house is as represented in the photos. It is legitamately 3 bedrooms but with the entry from the garage through one of the bedrooms. The layout is unusual, but not unexpected considering it appears to be a small beach bungalow that was renovated several times over the years.
Detractors: The "tub" in the #1 bathroom is not really a tub, rather a tiled enclosure that does not plug up effectively. The shower in the second bath is short and placement is unusual, requiring the master bedroom to be closed off when someone is showering. There is no dishwasher.
Attractors: LOCATION... Sitting on the lanai listening to the waves is one of the most serene and relaxing experiences you could ever have. Unobstructed views of the sunset, dolphins, etc. There is no sandy beach directly in front of the house, but that was not important to us. Lots of outside seating and the doors open up to blend outside and in.
The property management crew is OUTSTANDING! they were extremely responsive and checked on us several times during our week long stay. They brought over brand new fans and insect traps when we needed them. (Roaches and ants are part of Hawaii. There is no getting around it. It doesn't mean the house is dirty or unkempt).
I cannot say enough about the property management team.

Shack on the beach
The house is what it is. It sits on the beach. It's walking distance to Kona. It is grossly oversold in its description. First of all there is no AC. It doesn't say that there is; however, you need to know it's like a swamp. We were so hot it was nearly unbearable. There is a washer and dryer - but it's outside. As in take your laundry outside the house to the side yard. We were fortunate enough to have rain our last night so I had to do laundry in the rain. There were ants in the pantry. And kitchen. And bathrooms. And bedrooms. There were cockroaches on the patio. You have to leave the windows open because of the AC situation, but then more bugs come in. The shower in the master bath is so short that I'm 5'6" and could just barely fit under the shower head. There is a big gap under the front door between the bottom of the door and the floor. Lastly Honls beach 2 houses down is tiny. It's rocky. The sand is terrible. My kids hated it. We ended up having to drive to other beaches. So it is what it is. It's ocean front and a nice view and that is it.
