This place is really run down, but very clean. A lot of things were literally held together with duct-tape in the hotels interior. The staff was super and gave me a ton of friendly info. They were very happy to give me rides to the local shopping center and restaurants. I always tipped the driver. The hotel even paid my taxi to the airport at 4:00 am. Very cool. It has a good location to the airport and a shopping center is across the street. Would probably find a better place for the price however.
lets be honest, are there any really great hotels in Juneau? no. they are all your basic generic borderline dingy charmless step above an ATCO. so why pay the 25 plus more dollars to stay there? I have complained for years about super 8, and sometimes for good reason. However, i have to complement their staff and their professionalism. the room WAS clean, the location is ideal and they will even shuttle you around. They try their best to please their guest, making them an exceptional host. we stay their because of our dogs, and the location, now i can add, I stay there for those reasons, but also, because i really appreciate their staff.
The Hotel shuttle wasn't working. They used a Taxi service I did not think it would make it the 10 blocks to the Hotel. The lady check in computer wasn't working. The elevator wasn't working. The key card machine wasn't working so they used black markers to label the Room cards. The person in from of me was checked into 2 different rooms that they could not find the key cards to. Her 3rd room they did find a card for her to use. The first room I was checked in to did not have any running water in the sink or shower. While walking into the lobby one day, other customers were told all there belongings had been turned over to the Police as the cleaning lady found vials and needles in the room.
It starts with the van that picked us up from the airport the window was duct taped shut. The door handle missing. We drive up to the hotel where the woman behind the counter never smiled as was short with answers and came off as rude. The hotel carpets should have been my first clue they were dirty stained an worn. My room had mold in the bathroom which I'm allergic to so I woke up sick. There were holes in the ceiling around the fire sprinklers and a giant hole in the bathroom ceiling where I believe a light once was. The chair in the room was broken and wobbly. Carpets stained and I woke up with bites all over my back and legs(bed bugs?) I have stayed at many many super 8 's all over the states and I have never stayed at 1 this bad. And I paid most I have ever paid at any other location. Horrible next time I will be staying at best western or travel lodge
Priced at a 3 to 4 star hotel and really a 1-2 star hotel. Beware they charge a "safe fee" which is refundable if you happen to remember to tell them in checkout. Ever heard of that??. Computer is so slow could not print airline tickets. No morning coffee despite price. Staff not readily available, but friendly. Hotel otherwise ok, but pricey for what you get.
Mostly acceptable service and amenities however I was nearly left stranded after shuttle was abruptly discontinued despite assurances of availability.
I looked for breakfast three times, its on the 3rd floor
Great location, I've stayed here multiple times over the past 9 years traveling through Juneau. Each time the shuttle drivers have been fantastic and super friendly. The same can't be said for the front desk staff. In my experiences at this hotel I've consistently run into indifferent and sometimes rude front desk staff. The hotel is clean and convenient and fits the bill for my short stays passing through. However customer service from the front desk staff is consistently severely lacking. If you're looking for quality service, look somewhere else, if you're looking for an easy place to stay with a free shuttle this is an OK option.
While this motel is well located near the airport, it's very tired and worn out. The carpet in our room was spotted in a number of places and we didn't want to walk bare footed. It felt dirty. A store owner in town said it was bad 20 years ago when he came to town, and hadn't improved any since. The breakfast room had very few options from which to choose. While that's not a necessity when choosing a motel, the offerings are noticed by guests. We had prepaid for the room or would not have stayed.
Appreciated getting room on short notice during high vacation travel volume. Not all rooms have micro waves and no way of knowing until walk in room. Nonsmoking room had a lot of cigarette burns in floor? Staff was helpful.
We are not ones to leave a poor review, but in this case it is needed. We try to give the benefit of the doubt. Some rooms had long term guest that treated it very loosely. The room on one side stayed up late every night to party very loudly, I was up most of the night. The other room beside us had strong oder that smelled very illegal. Beds were hard, bathrooms were not very clean. The hotel offered free breakfast that we looked at as a plus. First morning the hosts never showed up. Second morning, closed 1 hr early. The staff was not very helpful, told them one reason we chose this location was to sleep and have free breakfast. Out of 6 or so nights, we got two breakfast out of the deal. The host were not sympathetic and would not offer any help. Again this is the first experience of this kind for us and we travel around the US every few months.
overpriced for a cheap chain of hotels, but nothing else available
Very close to airport, and the hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the airport and ferry terminal. Good place to stay between flights or ferry rides. Shuttle staff was very friendly.
Construction is dated and rooms were not as clean as expected. Complementary breakfast has very limited basic options and location is alright. Alright option for just one night stay on a tight budget.
A hotel that is a 5 minute (or less) drive from the airport, a shuttle, a clean bed, and a notch up from the standard Super 8 breakfast (with microwaveable sandwiches in addition to the norm). Was glad to stay there! Super fast check-in and check-out with my internet reservation. The only negative was a 35 minute wait for the shuttle because a ferry arrived at the same time as my plane -- not a big deal for me but some of the other clients were quite perturbed.
Hotel smelled musty and decor dated. At least could open window in room for fresh air. Requested firm bed but it was rather soft/lumpy. The staff was very pleasant but unable to find firmer mattress. Hotel close to airport - traffic noise noticable at times.
Close to the airport & has a shuttle. Friendly & accommodating staff
Comfortable; front desk staff responsive to requests for information & amenities. Quiet hallways. Earlier complimentary breakfast would be nice;
Used the facility as a two day lay over until I went into the bush for work. Never being in the area before, not knowing my way around, and not having transportation, I figured on being confined to my room. Not the case. The staff at this hotel educated me about the area, shuttled me any where I needed or wanted to go, then picked me up when I called them. Top notch service from this place, would recommend to anybody!!
Supper 8 was a good experience. They expected me and the room was ready when I arrived. Parking is never a problem and it met all my expectations. They have a expecially decient commentary breakface that has a lot of variety and is always ready on time. I recommend the Super 8 to anyone that is not looking for a lot of frills and extras. It is a quiet, basic facility that is convenient to the airport and other "valley" facilities and with your stay you get a 10% discount off your dinner at the Broiler Restraunant.
