Super 8 Juneau2.0 out of 5.0

I booked this facility 2 years ago for my son's baseball team and the players reported that it was the worse place ever. Based on a recommendation from another team and assurances from the new owners, I tried Super 8 Juneau again this year and it was amazing. Everything was new and fresh. It is located near shopping and airport and the fields. Thanks Susan and her staff for giving the team a great, affordable place to stay. I will recommend it to other teams as well as individuals I know that have to travel to Juneau.
Quite noisy at night. Apparently the desk clerk and his family were doing laundry down the hall in the middle of the night. Rooms were nice. Food and shopping nearby although McDonald's was not open when we tried to catch a morning flight.
Convenient location to the Juneau airport, plus McDonalds right next door and a convenience store across the street to stock up on snacks for a day of hiking or touring. Everyone we interacted with from the front desk and housekeepers were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to check in a few hours before the check-in time. The lobby and rooms are newly renovated with new furniture and carpets. Free wi-fi and airport shuttle. With all of that said, it is still a Super 8. Our room didn't have a hair dryer and we had to go to the front desk for a replacement. The ice machine wasn't working on our floor. The TV was smaller than expected, but we made do. The breakfast selection was minimal, with cereal, toast, apples, but they did have waffles. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay or bad hotel, but for the price we paid (approx $160/night), we probably could've found something better. But the staff definitely deserves some recognition.
The new renovations are amazing. They were not completely finished with them so the room did not have quite everything in them yet due to delayed furnature shipment, the the staff and particularly the owner bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed during our week stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Still got crackheads meandering thru the parking lot at night and rifling thru vehicles. I'm pretty sure someone was smoking pot in one of the rooms and that's gross. Front desk night person was rude. Looks nice on the face and they're trying but so far not impressed. Psh.
Stayed here for a couple of nights while in town. Very convenient to Juneau airport and nearby stores. Had no issues with the ongoing renovations - no noise, dust or parking. Staff was exceptionally friendly, accommodating and helpful. Particularly, Christina at the front desk, was helpful with recommendations for sightseeing in the area and was accommodating with our need for early check in.
the remodel is nice but I didn't think the housekeeping was very good, I found pennies on the floor under the table, there is sheet rock dust where a socket had been put in and some potato chips between the bed and the night stand. For $200 an night housekeeping standards should be better.
We arrived late, due to a delayed ferry, and our room was ready for us. Check in was very pleasant and easy. The hotel has gone through a major renovation, and was still being done during our stay, however, it did not interfere with our stay, nor was it noisy. I would recommend if you stay during the summer, and enjoy having your window open, that you request the front side of the building, to avoid the highway noise. We managed just fine, but it could bother some. There isn't A/C however, during our week stay, we didn't need it. The window open brought in the fresh air, and the room was comfortable. The morning continental breakfast is more of a grab and go with not a lot of seating; danish, hard boiled eggs, toast, and a waffle iron. Rooms do have a Keurig coffee maker, and the coffee is good. The manager, Susan, is working very hard to make this a nice hotel, and one that you would enjoy returning to. One I wouldn't hesitate on recommending. Added Info: There is a mini market across the street with a great selection of items if you need to grab something to eat later in the evening, without finding a restaurant. There is also public transportation available. The back side of Nugget Mall is the bus stop, if you'd like to go downtown, and not deal with parking, the fare is $2 per person each direction. The express bus is a 15 minutes ride.
The hotel was fine. The odd thing was they photocopied my ID and credit card. Doesn't seem normal.
Our flight was canceled due to bad weather, no hotel rooms due to convention, but Susan at Super 8, was so kind, she went out of her way to provide a room for us. Super 8 has a new owner & under remodeling. Susan made up a room for us, although not completely ready, but so welcomed by tired travelers. We were also picked up at the airport by their shuttle. It was raining quite hard, & Susan also provided a shuttled for us to a nearby restaurant, & picked us up after dinner. We have never had a motel take such care & consideration for their guests. I would highly recommend Super 8 in Juneau. Can't say enough good things. Thank you again, Susan & staff!
