We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights prior to catching The Blue Train. The staff were wonderful. However the hotel is well in need of a renovation. The curtains were too long and they needed a wash. There were rust stains in the shower and we had no hot water for a shower. We did ask for it to be fixed and for about 3 mins we were able to enjoy a luke warm shower. The food in the restaurant was nice as was the room service. Overall, it just needs updating and a good clean.
Great food, service, views for a luxury hotel situated in a busy part of a busy city. recently re-styled to a pleasing aesthetic. Rooms are a pleasure, and the best part is that huge luxurious bed with all that soft white linen to escape into from the stresses of the workday. Beers are too expensive - please, I could buy three anywhere else for that one!
Have just completed a 14 days' stay at this fine hotel. I asked in advance for a room on the 5th floor with a view to the historic Union Building. I received room 519 which was right next to the elevator, extremely convenient and no noise from the elevator was noticeable. And a fine view to the Union Building. The staff were all outstanding, helpful and polite. The food was excellent in the main restaurant although my one small quibble is that I felt the price of the Continental Breakfast was a little high at R210 which is about A$21. But overall the food was excellent and good value for money. As for convenience, I went everywhere by taxi and the average local trip cost me R100, and R600 per trip to and from the Johannesburg airport. It was a very nice short walk to the Union Building opposite the hotel. The internet was good and totally reliable and I always use a VPN on my laptop when staying in hotels. I used the Fitness Room each day and it was good basic gear, most popular being the 2 treadmills, always clean and all equipment was in good condition. I plan to stay there again next year and will pay a bit extra to stay on the 6th floor, the Club Floor. The real bargain was the sandwiches at around R60 and which came with a side salad and chips.
Service was ok hotel was warn out a bit but still stayable. Nothing specially good or bad about it but is not very centrally located in my understanding. Probably I would not stay there again anyway..
Really nice hotel, great reception team, which made me feel very welcome. Room was great. overall look of hotel is really nice as I would expect. I don't like crowded hotels but I have to admit this hotel was very quite, which then causes a problem with service in both restaurant and the bar. slow in the restaurant, even to the point where I got an apology for the slow service as they were very busy (with 7 tables in the restaurant). Bar was quite often unattended and getting a drink or paying the bill was a problem/challenge. Pool area was sparse and you had to order drinks or food via a phone each time but the partial view of the Union buildings was great. The biggest problem I have with this hotel is the location. Homeless people sleeping over the road. The Union buildings are a stones through (over the road) away, but I didn;t feel safe.
We were only there for one night as a stopover. Room was nice but hotel was packed due to large Chinese government visit. This hotel is directly opposite the government buildings and apparently lots of politicians and officials have regular conferences there. Swimming Pool and deck area was small but nice. Gym was absolutely hopeless with very little equipment and half of it not working. The hotel staff were very friendly. The prices were very reasonable considering the location. Bar area was quite small and there is just one restaurant. We were advised not to walk in the park outside due to risk of hassle from homeless people who frequent the area.
It's expensive but you get what you pay for. Attentive staff, good rooms with all amenities, good ambience and Internet for work. Chef made me a dish not on the menu which I requested, which wouldn't happen anywhere else. If you book in advance there are some good deals available which price it the same as mediocre other hotels. Yes, you expect a lot from Sheraton and this doesn't disappoint.

We spent the night here before catching the Blue Train to Cape Town. We arrived in the late afternoon and had a delicious buffet dinner. The variety and quality of the food was very good. We had a delicious buffet breakfast as well. The service was very good. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
In this category of Hotels the small things make a difference and to our experience the Sheraton Pretoria cannot fully keep up with , at least our, expectations. During our 5 night stay at the Club floor level we had to change our room once and refused to do so a second time... I understand that maintenance works have to be done from time to time but moving guests around then as a consequence of bad planning is annoying. The hotel and its amenities as such are nice and especially the staff at the reception and at the club level are very professional and welcoming. The gym is small but well equipped. The pool is good for a refreshing dipp but not large enough for a swim. The restaurant (we had several times breakfast and dinner) is not exceptionally cosy or athmospheric, but the food is nice and tasty. What we found really annoying is the organization or rather non-organization of transport. Getting a taxi or a limo from the hotel is based on coincidences and the staff dealing with this is totally unorganized. We had everything from uber to taxi from across the street to the limousine service from the hotel (which btw is provided at hefty prices and was also wrongly billed). Sometimes we had to call "our guy" since nobody was able to provide us with a transport. I consider this a somehow strange arrangement in the light of the security situation in Pretoria... anyway, would have been nice if the house keeping would have been A bid more responsive to our request to refill the coffee tabs after two days.... in a nutshell: first we thought we would stay there again during our next trip to Pretoria in 2 months, on a second guess we decided to look for something else. Be not mistaken, the Sheraton is a good and safe pick if your look for a comfy, classy, nice hotel in Pretoria. On the overall price-value ratio I am not so sure...
