Superb quality all the way. Great rooms....soundproof Great bed and linen, pillows all excellent. Bathroom had a separate toilet room. Bathroom had a great shower Great brekky and coffee was good. SUPER easy to walk across from airport, even with 2 LARGE suitcases. Concierge even gave us a airport luggage trolley on departure with our suitcases loaded on it. I would 100% stay here again when next in Johannesburg. Regards Glenn Russell Australia
This hotel is a welcome friendly place to stay overnight in Johannesburg when having to connect to another flight the next day without having to travel into Johannesburg. The staff are welcoming and the service great the rooms very comfortable. A very good airport hotel and one that has continued to improve over the years it has been in operation.
In the last month my wife and I have stayed three times at this hotel - on our way into, out of and around Africa. The hotel is superbly located a one-minute walk from the terminal. It's a very comfortable hotel - top class in every way (room, quality of sleep, food and service). A special mention of Sonia and the breakfast staff. Sonia remembered us from one visit to the next and made sure we were comfortable. Oh, and the eggs benedict are the best in the world!
Over-the-top luxury and service combined with location (LITERALLY 50 yards from the entrance to the airport) make this hard to beat. But for a 12-hour stay, it really seemed a little overkill. Two weeks earlier, I stayed at the City Lodge (also adjacent to the airport, but a slightly longer walk) for the same 12-hour kind of stay, and it was less than half the price. Nowhere near as luxurious or comfortable, and nowhere near the quality of food and service, but......something to think about!
Spent the time relaxing in a really great room before our early morning flight (1.30am). The room was on the 7th floor offering airport views. We were just 50 metres from the airport entrance so an easy stroll. A great shower and plenty of room to just relax. The room was large with an extra large shower compartment and modern in look and decor. Coffee and tea making facilities were available as was free wifi. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant down in the foyer - QUILLS served tasty snacks to main meals reasonably priced. Drinks were also available at the bar and were reasonably priced. This is our first time here and if we need a place for a lay over flight in the future we would not hesitate to stay here again.
My wife and I stayed here while in transit for a safari vacation. We arrived at 5am and they had a room ready for us without a problem. The room was very comfortable, and the hotel had a small amenities selection (a small indoor pool, a small gym, a spa). The two best aspects of the hotel were it's closeness to the airport (it's basically in the terminal), and the restaurant. Since you're out of town, it is your only real option for eating (without hiring a car), but luckily it's one of the best hotel restaurants we've ever eaten at!
Very well equipped rooms, a little larger than many city and airport hotels get away with. Very quiet inside the rooms considering the hotel is situated between the airport and the bus station. Breakfast was included in our rate and we enjoyed a very nice selection of cereal, meats and breads from the cold buffet although we could have indulged in a range of cooked options too. Efficient and pleasant staff, comfortable rooms. Could not be easier to get to. Walk out of the main doors of the airport and there it is 50m across the road.
I stayed in this airport hotel unexpectedly to catch an early flight. The last time I stayed here was more than 10 years ago. I was struck again with how excellent this hotel is compared to other airport hotels worldwide. It is a few dozen meters from the arrival hall. There was nothing in my room I could not find. This standard room surpassed expectation. Staff was friendly and efficient. Well done intercontinental Oliver Tambo Airport.
We stayed here overnight after a very long flight. The hotel is very comfortable, clean, quiet and with lovely decor. Our room was spacious. Our only glitch was that we ordered breakfast in our room as we had an early flight the next day. When it did not arrive we called room service and they had lost the order. Breakfast (which was delicious) arrived very late and we had to eat it rather too quickly for comfort. The airport is in front of the hotel so this is fantastic for ongoing travellers.
As close as it gets, great rooms, decent value and very good food. Overall the best option I have tried for an overnight at the airport. The pool which stays open all night is a nice perk when jetlag hits.
