Great place, rooms clean, had a deck with a cold tub facing the street, pretty cool. Swimming pool area very nice. We had a small walk up kitchen in our room which we liked. For bigger meals there is a large kitchen by the pool for all to use. Pots and pans not in the best condition. Security is good. Staff very helpful and friendly. Well kept. Street noise starts around 8am but to be expected account located on a corner. Highly recommend this place. Good value.

was on the ground floor with no outdoor space. It was very small. And very noise because it is so close to the main road. There is no phones in the room. The Tv has limited channels. There are not changed every day or the towels. You can get a big beach towel from the maids. The front desk is not always open. The room 1 had a mini frig and nothing else. I got a coffee pot for my morning coffee. Villas Mercedes was on a street with many restaurants . It was a 5 minutes walk away from Oxoxo (Mexican 7-11) which has beer and soft drinks. There was also a bakery in the same direction. The beach was a 5 minute walk over a hill away. And it was 20 minute walk along the canal to Commercial Mexican (like Walmart). The internet connect was great. It is very hard to get a decent room at this hotel, because clients are already booking and paying deposits for 2018.

Natalie and I spent two weeks at Villas Mercedes in January. The place is immaculately maintained, the staff are very friendly, it is safe, it is so convenient to town and the beaches, and it is reasonably priced. You can walk to virtually anywhere from here. Our unit was quiet and spotless. We had a small closet kitchenette, a safety deposit box, king bed, and never ran out of hot water. The pool was clean and especially refreshing, and the staff were always approachable and cooperative. They obviously cared about this hotel. We would not hesitate to stay at Villas Mercedes next time we come to Zihuatanejo.

This is a lovely place with a clean small pool. The good sized rooms have hot water and are clean with comfortable beds and plump pillows. There is a fridge and cable tv with some English channels. Our room outlook was to the street but not noisy. Lots of nearby restaurants and cafes. This place is very popular and deservedly so.It is a short walk into town and the beach. The location is excellent as you are near restaurants and cafes for breakfast or dinner but away from the noise.

Very nice, very secure If rules followed. WiFi good and in a great position in relationship all enmities. Walking distance to everything buses and cabs are very reasonable. We walk to most everything and cab back as its 10 pesos more than the bus for 2 persons. Clean quite and good at maintaining or fixing.

This hotel is perfect for those who don't want to be smack-dab in the heart of Zihuatanejo, but still close enough to get there quickly. It's midway between downtown Zihua and Playa la Ropa -- it took me about 10 minutes to walk to either (but then again, I'm a walker). Even better: It's a few minutes to walk to the low-key Playa Morena, where you can have a swim, a cerveza or some tacos and enjoy the waves and sunset. The employees are very friendly (and speak English); the wifi works great (and the one time it didn't, they fixed it immediately); the rooms are spacious and comfy with big, clean beds and a fridge. There's also a decent pool and proximity to restaurants and shops. If I go back to Zihuatanejo, I'll be returning to the Villas Mercedes.

We really enjoyed this place. Location was perfect: 7 minute walk to town; 4 minute walk to La Madera, 1 minute walk to a bunch of great restaurants. Room clean, property secure, pool lovely, staff very helpful. Didn't get a chance to try the outdoor kitchen but will next time. Amazing value.

It was a very nice place: very clean, comfortable, and very affordable. There is a very nice pool area with the swimming pool big enough to swim. There is a bar stand in the pool area, which every guest can use for cooking or BBQing. The location is close to everything, but also in the middle of everything. It's only a few blocks to the beach, and a few blocks to the center of the city. There are many good restaurants close-by. The staff are very helpful.

We stayed for 9 nights and could not have been happier in terms of location and amenities. We were able to walk to city centre (the locals' market - great fun and yum!), and to four different beaches, all from our hotel. Playa Principal is a few minutes away, La Madera maybe 5 minutes, then La Ropa we clocked at 20-25 minutes, and Las Gatas (which we did walk to and found it very doable) maybe an hour or so. There are so many good restaurants within walking distance that you could stay for a year and never repeat a meal at any one place. Seriously. You'll find the Wifi excellent in all the rooms, the water pressure great and constant. The pool is (as everything else) spotlessly clean and refreshing. No competition for the loungers, either! The rooms are nicely appointed with the most comfortable beds we've ever had in Mexico, along with a nice sized mini-fridge/freezer, a small sink and hot-plate. Most rooms have a balcony. Ours was a cute little thing overlooking the street, with a huge covering so that it was always shaded and comfortable. We enjoyed watching the street activities in the morning with our coffee (coffee pot in room - but be sure to purchase your coffee as it's not included). What to expect? The place has the highest level of security I've ever seen, so you are given several keys when you arrive (one gets you into the gate where the front desk is). The gate is usually locked. Bernice works afternoon/evenings and speaks perfect English if you need to ask questions. The girls at the desk will give you your beach towels if you ask (HUGE ones!). The gate between the pool area and inside the hotel is locked during the evening, but you can walk around the back side of the front desk to get to the front or pool area - keep in mind if you're an early riser. There are full-sized water barrels for you to use - take one from the pool-side kitchen, and the girls will give you a pump for it so you have lots of purified water in your room. In-room safe is easy to use (instructions included). Small bars of soap included in the room, no other toiletries. We did a day trip via collectivo to Petatlan and LOADS of walking to different beaches....and a day trip to Ixtapa Island. If you'd like details on any of that, or restaurant recommendations, do feel free to PM me. I will say our best meals were at "Lety's", and we really liked the "Pink taco place" - that's not the name of it, but it's right beside the OXXO. The building doesn't look like much, but the tacos ("Since 1980"!) were excellent and served with big bowls of 8 different toppings......we stopped there for a taco fix a few times. Now, the only flaw in the place - they give you just one set of keys. Those same keys are required to activate the electrical system in your room. So - if it's dark and you want to open your balcony door (which is enclosed in a locked metal gate), you must "Unplug" your keys and race to find the keyhole on the gate before the lights go out. If one of you wants to nap in the room while the other goes out exploring, the guy in the room needs to keep they keys (in order to activate the air conditioning, tv or what have you) and the guy going out will have no way of re-entering the locked compound. Not a deal breaker (and we will return here regardless), but we did think it would suck if one of you got sick and had to hang in the room for a few days........

There was a mix up on our room because I did not make my Pay Pay 1st payment. We got the small room (1). After much discussion we were offered our money back and that night free. A coffee pot was brought to our room and we had a small fridge. Because we were right next to the covered porch, we spent a lot of time there. We made friends that we would not have made if in the room we wanted on the 2nd floor. The hotel has guests like us that return year after year. There are only 9 rooms in the 2 story hotel and if you are looking for a room and have your air fare- book as soon as your travel arrangements are made. We just booked for a week checking in Jan 14, 2017. You may find cheaper hotels, but they will not be as nice and have the location. The restaurant is on a street that is known as restaurant row now because so many good places to eat have opened up after the street was repaired(took over 2 years). You are close enough to walk to every where. We like trying the different restaurants for breakfast and dinner. We have our favorite that we eat at, but like to try others also. We have been going there for over 5 years because we had been staying in Centro and loving it but the noise till 3 to 5 am made us find another place. A friend found us this little place. The owner has another place with a view that we like but is to far from everything (Villa El Morro). If you don't mind taking a taxi and love a killer view, try there 1 time- same thing again repeating customers that stay a month at a time. The pool is nice but never gets warm in January/February when we go down.
