Nice facilities but the wifi, very good on general, definitely going back next vacations, nice hotel staff

We arrived at the Tesoro at 11 am. We were informed that we could not check into our room until 3 pm and to go have lunch and relax by the pool. There were no chairs to sit in and the line for the food and bar was extremely long. We were told that there were 170 people checking out on Monday. The remainder of our stay was fine. We got good service and the food and drinks were good. This hotel has a lot of Mexican families that stay on the week-ends. My daughter and I had stayed at this hotel over New Years a couple of years ago and had a great time. I was a little disappointed with this stay. I would try it again.

Beware, sewer smells ba drains, a/c, remote, safe, shower & no hot water. Asked other quests same problems. Pool chairs taken at 6:00 am by full time quests, both pool & ocean huts. Ocean not swimmable, red & Blk flags everyday told by staff. Food was OK for 5 days then had to walk across street to restrauants. Pool snack bar horrible, ran out of food everyday. Hotel sells day passes, so tons of kids Would not recommend

Friendly staff and clean rooms, but very noisy at night with nearby disco until 3:30 AM. Air conditioning was noisy and ran consistently just to keep up but never did get very cool. Water was shut off most of an afternoon for some unknown reason. Very nice clean pool....but NO swim up bar. Once the bar opened at 11:00 service was slow to order drinks.....they need more than 2 or 3 guys working!

Room is Ok a 3, shower cold water at 7pm tasteless food, they water down everything like sour cream, nacho cheese, drinks are just cheap alcohol. Snacks were old like the pizza. Kids club no schedule activities and girl texting my son experience. Kids club and Gym odor is like mold ordor. 2 Towels got stolen from the beach chairs. I had to pay $20 each. NO FREE WIFI. Show was funny. No activities, they have a schedule but they dont do. Room was not super clean, they change the AC to high and my husband and daughter got sick. Massage down some hotels $10 compare to $120 in hotel. Check in was ok.

We have been staying at the Tesoro for 7 years, wonderful place, quiet, but yet has everything we could want.

21st year in Ixtapa so we like the weather and the area. (first time at Tesoro) Hotel is just what other reviews say (some good some bad) good staff buffet is OK (not as good as some others) sit down dinner very good (but we eat out at local and Zihu restaurants most nights) drinks not top shelf liquor, many people on weekends some rooms have been upgraded, ours was old and needed upgrading but bed was comfortable. If you're looking for a 3.5 star and above don't go there. If you can get a good rate and top notch food or drink is a must then it's OK. If the rate was great (like we had this year) we could put up with it again but we'll shop around next winter.

We spent two weeks at the Tesoro from Feb. 6th to Feb 21st. I think the staff at the hotel is amazing especially Patsy and Andrades in the dining room. Our room was on the 4th floor with a beautiful view. However this year we were next to a privately owned condo and they were smokers. Our room always smelled of smoke and that was not good as both my husband and I have sinus issues. I think the hotel was way too crowded this year and there was absolutely nothing quiet about the hotel grounds. The swimming pool should not be open as early as the start of breakfast or as late as the supper hour. There were screaming kids from sun up to sun down and no quiet ever. Also there was smoking allowed every where you walked outside on the grounds although the hotel said it was non smoking. Finally on the next to last day they made the smokers go to the farthest end of the pool after we smelled the smoke from early breakfast and lunch and supper every day. Our first year was defineately quieter and there wasn't nearly the smokers. I would suggest that the smoking issue be taken care of and also a break in the action at the pool. The locals and their children were polite most of the time but their was never a quiet moment. There was never a time to sit at the pool or use the pool due to at least 100 people and screaming children all the time. The best part of our stay this year was the view and the staff who are the best we have found in Ixtapa so far. Even though we are going to a hotel next year that is not all inclusive I would still recommend the Tesoro based on the value, the location and their wonderful staff.

This was my third stay at the Tesoro in as many years. Just can't say enough about this place! Perfect location, outstanding service, best food of any AI I have stayed at in my 10 plus visits to Mexico. All of the staff is amazing, so friendly and attentive, they genuinely care about you and your stay here.

Food was bad, No A/C in the lobby area, pool overcrowded, rooms remind me of a cheap motel in California, the only place we enjoyed was Las Gatas beach.

First stay at this hotel - 16th in Ixtapa. Purchased package July 2014 @ deep discount. Arrived 2:00 p.m., got room key at 3:00 - 2nd floor room, direct view to the ocean, no towels in room, couldn't get safe key to work. Call to help resulted in towels immediately, but longer for someone to show us safe operation. Also connecting door not locked, but told "no problem" as supposedly adjoining side was blocked off. We expect a somewhat musty smell when staying at a beach hotel but this was SEVERE and continued for about 10 days into our stay. Wife finally stopped sneezing, as she must be allergic to mildew. Room freshly painted but air ducts very dirty. Furnishings old and very basic, bed was actually pretty good. Fridge held 2 bottles of water and 3 sodas. We did ask for diet soda and received it most days. Only one outlet in room for charging phone, iPad, etc. and had to unplug clock to use it! No ice machines anywhere in hotel - had to go to bar or restaurant for ice. Grounds/décor very bland - everything beige, not inviting. Food and bar selections exceptionally limited - low-cost liquor and food ingredients. No availability of select brands. Lobby bar open at 6 p.m. very basic - pinas, margaritas, beer, tequila, generic wine, very few other drinks available - e.g. no cosmo, martini, etc. Glasses everywhere and plates in buffet very small - deliberately designed to limit consumption? Or costs? or Waste? Bar staff and setup - only one bartender outside for walk-up service, where lines sometimes 20-25 deep waitstaff for pool & beach limited to 2, making service sometimes slow. All appeared to work hard, though. Overcrowding is extreme - pool area severely limited in size - not providing enough seating for customers. Unlimited day passes bring large numbers of people (and many children) who hang out at the pool but rarely leave for sanitary reasons. Early morning availability of lounge chairs is only way to obtain seating condo owners also reserve pool loungers all day and some seldom in the chairs. Layout not conducive to mingling, walking pool or grounds. To make an attempt at reducing unused chairs, security issues a "ticket" to some patrons indicating that if you leave your chair for one hour or more your possessions may be removed. You're required to sign, indicating you understand the rule. But it is inconsistent - we got tickets about 4-5 times in 14 days, others got them daily. Lots of tickets issued but no removal that we saw in two weeks. Towels are numbered and you need to return the towel that was assigned to you each day - can be a problem with larger groups where people switch chairs etc. Typically if you take 2 towels and return 2 towels you are okay, but the number system caused some complaints that we heard. Information about dinner themes, entertainment never available - no boards or announcement. Food choices somewhat limited due to size of dining room. WIFI at hotel, although free, was very unreliable/inconsistent - kicked you off frequently, not high speed, was frustrating. There is no concierge to ask questions, much of the staff spoke limited English, but bellmen were a good source of answers. Enforcement of poolside rules was random, selective, and sometimes whimsical. For example - no eating at pool loungers - must sit at tables reserved for eating. Except you'd have to sit on someone's lap because those tables were always occupied ALL DAY by people who could not find seats around the pool! Other times, people ate around the pool all day. Initiated a non smoking policy on about day 10 of our trip - only allowed on your balcony, just outside the bar, or on the beach - no public areas (pool area, open bar, etc.) BOTTOM LINE: Overall the place was just okay and a very low price compared to other options. The staff was relatively friendly and our room was kept very clean. But it's not for me - I want a more comfortable experience with better conditions and less work to enjoy my vacation.

The rooms are nice, but my first one had many maintenance issues. Changed rooms without hassle and my stay was much better afterwards. Food is ok, there are some tasty items in the buffet- but mostly average tasting. Freshly made food is worth the wait. Had my worst margarita and best margarita on this trip- find Bernardo...he is the best bartender at the hotel.

The hotel is in the process of remodeling for damage caused by an earthquake in the past month so it looks very deteiorado and neglected. There are many noises and limited areas due to the same remodeling. limited services, personal dining animation without the intention to entertain the guests. overall it was not the best place to vacation.

We had a wonderful experience. The Staff are so helpful, kind and happy! Very FUN!

My initial reaction was less than positive. The hotel does not allow early check-in. That was quite inconvenient considering we arrived between 10:30 and 11:00 am. The hotel gave us a temporary wrist band that allowed us access to the pool but not to the buffet or allow us to have any beverages. Not knowing this, we went out on the deck ordered a cup of coffee and decided to have a light breakfast. I was surprised to get a bill for for $17.00 US for a cup of coffee and a pastry that was drier than the Mexican desert. Do not buy the internet package. It will not work and the hotel will not refund you your payment. I was able to log onto the free internet in the lobby area. The buffet was good, nothing spectacular. The International Dinner held in the outdoor theatre was very good and had a lot of variety. The pool was relatively clean once the weekend traffic was moved out. The beach was terriffic. The staff that worked the pool area was very good, friendly and was very attentive. Olivia was a great natured waitress. I would rate the resort as a good bargain. Do not expect to be wowed. There is a definite need for some updating. It was a bit comical to me that the alarm clock was bolted to the night stand, but the safe could easily be picked up and taken from the room.

the hotel is older but very clean, the beds were very great. the food was buffet you can,t expect great food but it was ok. my wife and I have been to Ixtapa 6 years in a row at 5 diffenent resorts, the Tesoro has by far the best staff. from the meal staff to room cleaning to the pool bar staff they all had a smile on there face and were happy to serv you. felt like they were happy to see me every day.

Now I know what royalty must experience. These folks really pamper you. I will be back.

The staff at the hotel are fantastic. Baldwin (in charge of the front desk) is great. If you have a request and it is in his power to grant, it will be done. You can't beat the location. The food is great with a lot of variety. Some people may not like it because it is not what you are used to at home. Remember, this is Mexico. Our only complaint is that some of the food could be hotter. The soup is always hot. Best meal if breakfast. Freshly made omelets are hot. Like any hotel, the rooms are showing there wear and a little upkeep is in order but who spends the time in the hotel? The main thing is it is clean.

As a family of 5 (kids 6, 4, 2) it is important to have the right place. The area is save in regards of crime even if you leave values on the beach. The hotel has a good pool for young and old. The hotel stuff offers lot of entertainment (volleyball, games). If you have young kids, watch the balcony railing, they are not save for young kids. And screws on the floor caps which sticking out at some place. The beds were to hard for us. The hotel would need a tune up. The food was 2 out of 10 points for us. There is only one buffet and one restaurant and the used the leaved overs always next day. The location of the hotel on the beach was perfect and there was alert lifeguard along the beach which gave us comfort. The weather was perfect and the pool and ocean water temperature too. Our kids could not get enough of swimming. We stayed before at the "Tesoro in Manzanillo" which offer as a hotel much more, but then the beach was not so nice compare to Ixtapa and the pool where cold but the food and entertainment perfect. Which everybody a great trip.

Hotel was very nice. Food was very good. Drinks were ok. Need more variety of alcohol. Rooms were nice, beds comfortable and view was gorgeous out our balcony. The sand, ocean and beach was the most beautiful from many other areas in mexico. A lot of Mexicans vacationing here also. Shopping was very convenient. Great activities on the beach and also good prices.
