My husband and I returned here for the holidays for the second year in a row. This was our third time to La Casa. What can I say that has not already been said? There are NO flaws. If you want peace and quiet, incredible attention by the staff who treat you like family, and you will love and respect as much, beautiful accommodations, fabulous food and a magnificent setting - well, this is it! Special hellos to Fredy who is always there with water when we are thirsty and a menu when we are hungry, Mario at the restaurant who makes us smile with his charm, and Laura and Theresa..... who are just so wonderful I can’t say enough about them. The owners were on property when we were there. They are lovely people too, it was a pleasure to meet them. Needless to say, we already rebooked for next Christmas.
My stay here was to celebrate a milestone birthday at a luxury 5 star hotel. This is truly a gem located on a cliff overlooking Zihuatanejo. The hotel is beautiful, private and quiet. A true sanctuary with magnificent views and amenities. The hospitality staff are professional, courteous and helpful as you would expect in a luxury property of this kind. This being my first visit to Zihuatanejo - and certainly not my last - I had chosen this property on the reviews and reputation and it lived up to all my expectations. I had chosen the ocean front grand suite with breakfast and dinner included. The suite was very comfortably furnished with a small bar in the bathroom. The bed, linen and pillows provided a restful sleep. When I arrived there were some Mexican snacks and bottles of beer to welcome me and were placed on the coffee table in the sitting room. The staff also sent a piece of birthday cake later that evening. The kind gestures were greatly appreciated. I do want to thank Hugo for the friendly morning conversation during my breakfast and Pavel the restaurant manager for his evening conversation during dinner. Thank you all for a wonderful and memorable stay during my birthday visit.
This is a truly first class restaurant; while not cheap the quality, service and setting is well worth the approx. $100USD per person. We’ll go back again. We had the sea bass in olive oil and garlic and the chicken along with a unique seafood terrine and goat cheese ravioli.
We didn't know you could go into this hotel. There is always a guard out front and it looks deserted. It's a beautiful place from the moment you step into the front entrance. So contemporary yet with Mexican culture in mind. We had to take an elevator to the dining area. Once there, you feel like you are on the water with a view of the beautiful city. The staff were friendly and attentive. Had a mescal martini. Check it out for lifestyles of the rich and famous ;-)
We are in our 8th day of 10 at this fine resort and I feel compelled to once again share the bliss in order for others to at least know about this resort and consider it for a future visit. I first bought a 5 day stay back in about 2000 in a silent wine auction lot without having any idea as to what I was buying; it just sounded good and looked good and it was time to explore some new travel options. At the end of the 5 days, I realised I made a mistake. I failed to extend it to 10 days. This place is of classy, rustic traditional Mexican motif, magnificently landscaped, beautifully appointed with quality in mind. There`s a lot of fine Mexican art scattered throughout. Creative fresh flower arrangements are made on the bed daily. A small frig is stocked with beer, water, soda and fruit drinks daily. Our room had a Tequila filled vase with 2 small glasses, salt and fresh lime replenished daily as well. That may be a mistake as they do this as a compliment on the first day only as a rule. Also daily cleaning and changeout is done thoroughly and with love. The resort is located in the hub of a horseshoe bay in Zihuatanejo. It sits just above the water`s edge and runs up a steep rocky hill all the way up to the top. The sound of the surf resonates throughout. The sunsets are consistently spectacular and depending upon the time of the year, the sun sets in the ocean as opposed to behind an outer edge of the shoe. Since this resort sits on a steep cliff, there is no beach directly below, but out the front end and 3-4 minutes down a short one lane street, there is Playa la Ropa, a beach which is beautiful. It is about a mile long and a perfect place for morning walks as well as some decent snorkelling around the reefs situated at the beginning. This is a private, quiet, couples or single only resort with no pets nor children under age 18 allowed and it`s rare to see any near that age group. There are many room/suite choices to choose from with varying prices. All have their own privacy and views with sitting areas from the inside out on patios overlooking the bay, ocean and the port entrance of Zihuatanejo. There is a palapa covered restaurant for breakfast and lunch and an outside patio restaurant for dinner [both named Mar y Cielo]; they have good quality food choices prepared by top chefs and are served by dedicated people who are there to serve you joyfully and graciously. Daily flights are available to the nearby Zihuatanejo/ Ixtapa International Airport. For those who have concerns about safety, there has never been a problem in this locale that we`re aware of and it`s highly unlikely to ever be an issue IMHO.
Stayed 4 nights. Absolutely breathtaking. Check in was very efficient and were to our room within 10 minutes of arrival. Given a tour of the room where complimentary coronas on ice with mini nacho plate was offered. This food and beverage offering was each day! Room, Large, WiFi in room with strong signal even outside the room. A/C in bedroom and bathroom areas worked well. Decent minibar also. Complimentary bottled water replaced each day. Architecture reminiscent of traditional Mexican rural architecture. Terracotta coloured walls and floor smooth in texture with rendered walls in crisp white inside with use of dark timber for window shutters, doors and furnishings. Bathroom a decent size with ample storage and decent shower head and cubicle. Separate toliet was welcomed. Room is cleaned each day with turn down service at night. In house restaurant offers some truly excellent food. The fresh made at your table salsa was a delight. All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and were a delight to interact with. All amenties such as gym were quite decent as well. The swimming pools are amazing with the view of the Zihuatanejo bay area at morning, day, afternoon or night are simply outstanding. Highly recommend.
La Casa de Canta is one of the best experiences my wife and I have ever had. The staff are so attentive and intuitive. The food was next level and every spot is romantic. Our room was fabulous with the most amazing view. We traveled with 4 other couples and everyone had a great time. We traveled the first week in December which is right before the high season and we had the place to ourselves. There are so many options outside the hotel including a $15 hour-Long massage on the beach. We could change US dollars for pesos right at the front desk. Laura, Nadia, and Luisa made our stay perfect.
Wonderful accommodations and a beautiful setting. The staff made sure we were completely satisfied at all times. I would recommend and visit again. The suite had a private pool and the room service insured a magical private time while watching incredible sunsets.
My husband and I spent 5 nights at la Casa que Canta, and we absolutely loved it! It was a long journey from NYC, but worth it. We stayed in an ocean front suite with our own dipping pool which was beautifully and authentically decorated, very spacious, and comfortable. The service was top of the line, any thing we required or asked for they were happy to provide. The hotel has 2 pools, an infinity pool and a salt water pool. The staff was happy to provide is with cold water, and would frequently check on us while sitting by the pools. It was our first time at a Small Luxury Hotel and we definitely will be returning to others, but especially to La Casa que Canta.
Be warned that they state no children allowed but we just had an unhappy dinner where a group of 8 including two small children were seated. Don't get me wrong. We stay in hotels and go to restaurants that are full of children, however one of the major factors in deciding to stay here is the adults only policy so that we can have a very relaxing time away from the office. We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, in some cases renting three rooms to accommodate other family members, and I have always enjoyed the peace and quiet. We love this place and its staff. If you are determined to stay here, we would suggest you avoid weekends, holidays, and other busy times in order to reduce the chance of running into this problem. This is kind of a difficult review to write, because we were in love with CQC. In fact we had staff show us Murmullo and El Sueno buildings for possible future rental. But we just spent four days a Capella, which IS strictly NO children. The rooms are newer and the food is arguably a bit better at Capella, as well as the price. If we stay at CQC again we would probably shorten up the number of day there. Still give it 4 stars but it loses a star with us over this.
