Palazzo Donizetti Hotel - Special Class

Very beautiful, luxurious room and hotel at an incredible rate.

I booked this hotel along with my airfare so it came out to less than $20 per night. I had stayed in the area before and was aware of this historic building and hotel. When I checked in, the room I had booked was not available so they upgraded me into a huge suite that was beautifully furnished. I actually felt guilty as one person occupying such a large room. Given its central location in a very busy area of Istanbul, I came prepared to wear earplugs to sleep but it turned out they weren't needed. Breakfast was good but not exceptional. But the view of the Golden Horn from the restaurant is not to be missed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This was my third visit to Istanbul. By far, this was my favorite hotel choice. I like to stay in Taxim because of the walking street. The amenities for what we paid was a true value. Rooms nicely appointed with nice toiletries. The staff were gracious and could not have been nicer or more helpful. And the restaurant on the top floor was the best dinner we had in our 4 night stay. It was innovative, affordable, elegant, and a most romantic view of Istanbul. My only negative would be the entrance needs improving. The hotel is so wonderful, it needs a more majestic entrance. But in any case, I would most definitely stay here again and will refer all of my friends to this great hotel.

Istanbul is steeped in history, culture and tradition. Great place to visit! Palazzo Donizetti is close to shopping and some major tourist sights.

Had a very nice and large corner room (really apartment). Great for a family. A little bit of voice coming from nearby streets with popular restaurants and bars, but not enough to disturb.

Great location. Walking distance to Istiklal and train station. Stayed in the corner suite on the 3rd floor and street noise can be heard until early morning. Only had the breakfast buffet on our first day and it was blah. Staff are not as friendly as you would expect. If you are used to staying in a five star hotel, this will definitely disappoint you. If you are in a budget, would be spending a great deal outside with no plans of using the hotel facilities, and can sleep through street musicians, loud drunk tourists smashing beer bottles on the side walks (seriously, this happened quite a few times), then this hotel would do.

The hotel has a rich history . The decor is very pleasant and amenities are fine. There was a problem with AC. It it was not a big problem for us as were staying thre at the end of April. If you like to walk it is a very nice about 30 minute walk to the Old Town. It is also great to see the newer part of the city by just walki in the hotel's neighborhood.

Spacious rooms, friendly staff. It was close to very nice restaurants, bars and coffee houses. We fell in love with the rooftop bar where they served the breakfast. It had the most amazing views.

At the beginning I was a bit taken a back seeing the hotel and the front desk's service and the reception set up, definitely not a 5 star set up. However the following day the Duty Manager offered an upgrade which I think was truly nice. Since then he was very attentive and ensured our comfort till the end of this journey. His positive attitude and behaviour has made us stay in this hotel. In one word he is simply amazing. Thanks to my booking agent for taking up my concern and the Duty Manager.

Courteous staff. High quality place. Spacious room. Mineral water and tea bags were added each day. Very clean except for carpets.

Nice hotel perfectly located near Taksim Square, and easy walk to the metro and Old Tunnel transit. Very nicely appointed. The street-side rooms might receive noise from the weekend party resellers (which seem to stay out until the wee hours) and the electronic key system was notoriously unreliable, requiring daily (and sometimes twice daily) returns to the front desk for reprogramming. Otherwise great place.

Great location and walking distance to the old town. At night the right place to be with lotst of restaurants. Friendly staff.
