hotel is falsely advertised, nothing they advertised was there no terrace restaurant rooms are tiny no water dusty and broken beds and furniture the mini fridge was empty and broken and the showers have no curtain or door so water spills everwhere and then they expect you not to waste towels. staff were annoyed because we wanted to change rooms because the first room was dirty with dirty towels and bedsheets. breakfast was terrible. luckily we were sightseeing all day and night so didn't spend much time there but I would never go back to this hotel. I would say the location is good but there so many other hotels in that area that looked so much better and I regret going for this one.
The hotel is well located, close to restaurants and to Istanbul's main sights. At arrival we were given a room which was in an annex building for which the door was always open facing the street. There is no security measure to control who enters the building whatsoever. The room was incredibly small, not more than 8m2 and we complained to the travel agency who contacted the hotel. We were given a bigger room, but still in the same building. When addressing the staff about what to see and how to get around the city, one of the receptionists was incredibly rude to my wife, to a point I thought that under different circumstances, a fight might had broken off. I would never return to this hotel. I don't care how cheap it may be, but there's no service, no security and no quality in it.
Bad small room dirty room all broke doors handles TV not working minibar drinks out of date old rooms dirty toilet flushing not working properly staff unhelpful breakfast chese tomota cucumber is Like 2 weeks old
We; my dad, my sister and I; recently stayed here. We wanted a triple room because we all needed our own beds. Our first night in our triple room was hell - the air con didn't work, and we boiled the whole night. Not to mention there was a huge party happening on the top floor in the old restaurant !!!! So loud we couldn't sleep. They stopped the event once we complained at 11:30pm.. The next day we were moved, thankfully, to a different room - a double with a room attached with another single. Aircon worked fine in there and thus we began our week stay. The breakfast was very Turkish, probably not good if you have young (western) kids as there is not many "western" options (I had the same bland chocolate cereal every day because the salad-type food doesn't appeal to me). The staff were accommodating, and helped us set up day tours which we really enjoyed. The restaurant on the top floor is not currently in operation (perhaps due to the lack of tourists this year?) but there are a number of decent restaurants nearby. This place is ace for location, really can't get a better location for seeing the sights. Overall we had a decent stay, but I wasn't overly impressed.
We are currently in one of doublerooms. We have visited Istanbul many times but I have never seen such an awful 4-stars hotel. This is a one or max. 2 stars hotel so dont waste your money here. Available photos on Internet are from superior rooms. Our double room is situated on the fifth floor and is about 10 m2 large with a mini shower and wardrobe. Fridge is empty, tv old and bed for 2 persons is just 140 cm wide. The room looks a room for personnel to rest. I will post more info and photos here later to make people aware of reality.
Location is good.hotel crew are friendly. Room is always clean.every thing in the room are working and available. This visit to this hotel not the first one.any one can use ipek will like it.I advice every one to come and see ipek palas.
I stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel itself is in a good location in the heart of the lively Sirkeci area, nevertheless in a quiet corner. The rooms, or better say my room was quite tiny with limited space, and I compare with my previous stay at another hotel in Sultanahmet that cost 15% less with better service and much more space. The room has a minibar however it was empty. The breakfast was OK, however they could have served more types of delicious Turkish bread, albeit they served only two standard types. What really turned me off was the reception staff's rushy attitude when I went to the reception in the morning to ask where the breakfast hall was, and I was shocked that he insisted that I pay first then go for breakfast. I was in mood of arguing, so I said OK, and then it was obvious that he was not very savvy with using the credit card machine which did not accept my card. So I said I'd go for breakfast and then go out to bring some cash and come back and pay. After breakfast I was heading out, and once again he told me strangely and very ridiculously "your have left your luggage in the room, right ?" As if I were going to evade the hotel.. and it was obvious that I was not carrying any luggage. After I came back from the ATM, I went up to my room and once again he calls and says, shall I call a taxi !!!! A very rushy attitude, which is really not at all a feature of the famous and wonderful Turkish hospitality.
OVERALL: Reservation and queries for this hotel were made and answered very quickly thanks to Ipek Palas's Sibel Yilmaz. The hotel is fantastic and clean if you're mostly out and about and need a cheap place to sleep and rest with comfort, yet be near key attractions. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Will definitely stay here again! ROOMS: We stayed in the triple bedroom on the first floor with my parents who are 50+, so the location of the room was ideal. The rooms were very clean including the bathroom that came with a hair dryer. Although the wardrobe provided was a little small, we did not mind so much since our stay was quite short. The water was hot, as in some hotels there is a lack of this - Ipek Palas did not disappoint. The beds were of a good size and good comfort also. We were given a mini fridge, and the staff were kind enough to allow us to empty the drinks that were already inside and store my mother's insulin injection. The only problem we had was the poor wifi connection at some times of the days. FOOD: Breakfast was included in our package with the hotel, which was a continental breakfast. There was a great variety, which my father thoroughly enjoyed. Yousef (I think his name was) was very helpful, and would continuously top up the food items whenever running low. However, on the first 2 days chips were served - a little random, yet still delicious! SERVICE: Service was excellent by all members of staff at the hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome when we arrived. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, always greeting us whenever we left and arrived at the hotel. When we had problems with our fridge on one occasion, Ümit was quick to help out. Also, when we needed to do an online check in for our flight the next day Ümit and another member of staff allowed us to use the office computers and printer - something which I will be so grateful for! LOCATION: The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is very close to a tram line (T1, catching the tram and Gulhane and within one stop you're at Sultanahmet) and local restaurants, which are cheaper than those found in Sultanahmet. Tourist/Souvenier stores were also generally cheaper nearby to the hotel than other areas. There is also a local grocers/fruit shop, and newsagents which was next door to the hotel. Located on a one way street, it is less busy and noisier than other areas, which is perfect if you like to sleep early. Overall, the location is safe and very ideal for those who want to stay in a cheap area yet be near the key attractions.
I've been in this hotel. It was very tidy and very kind staff are working here. The tram was only 3 min from the hotel. I felt at home. Sultanahmet and several other sightseeings were nearby. Thanks for the stay!
We have been staying here for 4 days. Great location, very friendly and helpfull staff. Breakfast was really good. Nearby Sultamahmet ,Eminönü . Very close to the underground and busstops etc. Thanks!
