The hotel was great, nice beachfront location away from the main town area if you want some quiet, the staff were friendly, called us a taxi when we were leaving, no complaints! The room was huge and clean!
A few minutes walk away from the noisy hotels on the beach, this place is very special. We had 2 rooms, each with 2 doubles. The bathrooms were fine, if a bit basic - but just what we were expecting for the price and location. The food at the restaurant ( which only does breakfast and lunch) was really really good- loads of tasty Mexican treats. Staff were attentive and friendly. I would recommend.
This is our 2nd stay in holbox. The 1st time we have stayed in a hotel near the punta mosquito side. This hotel is on the punta coco side. The price is overly expensive for what the hotel offers but we have noticed that rates of almost everything doubled within a year ( golf carts, taxi, tours, bikes etc..). This is a real turn off when the idea of the island is to keep its authenticity while the streets are dirty (supposed to be white sand) near the entrance of the hotel or any other streets. And very basic services/entertainment are not available. This hotel is still one of the best in terms of value in the island. The service is good and the hotel is clean and peaceful. The room is okay but misses a couple things such as a heater, a wardrobe or even a phone in case of an emergency. The rooms technically seems to have an angle view to the sea but then the hotel added some kind of club with tents (see pic) which covers the beautiful view. And if you want to sit in the tents you ll have to pay 250pesos/pp which is ridiculous. Anyway, this will probably be our last time in the island since for the same spendings we could probably afford way better services and sightseeing.
The hotel is without doubt the nicest and friendliest we came across on the island. Set a few minutes walk away from the louder hotels on the beach, the location is perfect and complete luxury. Rooms are lovely and big and clean. Our room (no. 4) had a gorgeous view of the sea and the palm trees. The hotel grounds are maintained to a very high standard and the pool is absolutely lovely, and looks straight out to the sea. The breakfast included was DELICIOUS as well as all of the food we had on the menu. ( hot cakes/American pancakes are the best) The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our time there and attentive to whatever we needed. Miguel you were awesome! Thank you all! Having walked around the beach and looked at other hotel options, this one stood out as best location and you really do get what you pay for and more. The sun sets right infront of the beach making evening sitting out on the sun loungers even better. The beach bar is lovely and very clean with food and drinks available all day until about 6.30pm. ( burger and garlic prawns are a winner, as well as there wide range of delicious juices!) Renting bikes is a must to explore the island. The best pizza on the island - Roots restaurant and best smoothie - Palmetto. I recommend everyone to stay here. We wish we could have stayed forever!
The staff are extraordinary, the rooms comfortable, the grounds beautifully tended, and food and drink at the Beach Club restaurant are delicious. We particularly enjoyed getting to know the hardworking restaurant and bar as well as office staff who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is a short 10 minute walk into town with a few restaurants and stores along the way. If you elect to stay on the property, there is an optional Beach Club. Payment to the Beach Club for use of lounge chairs and tents closer to the water becomes a tab balance towards food and drink throughout the day, so no extra charge for the "special" area. But we were quite happy with the guest lounge chairs just behind that area. Despite the Hotel being across the street from the Island's airport, it did not adversely affect our days there and the hotel is quiet at night. At the time of our visit (March 2019), most visitors to the Island seemed to come by ferry.
We return to this hotel after two years. Our previous visit was just after they recently opened. They’ve added a restaurant with some very good food. A beach club with food and drinks on their great little stretch of beach. Now for the but.... I reserved a king bed. After waiting a few hours to clean the room, they stuck us with two beds, the room was up about 30 steps and it was across the street at the airport. No apologies or anything.
Hotel Puerto Holbox is where you go to take off your watch, unplug your phone and be at one with nature. The beach is long, wide and well-maintained -- one of the most beautiful on Holbox Island -- with turquoise water as clear as glass. Palapas are strategically placed so you can enjoy both shade and privacy. Rooms are simply decorated and spotlessly clean. Beds are comfortable. Fans and AC efficient. Our complimentary breakfast served outside was delicious, fresh fruit with yogurt and granola, as well as one item from the à la carte menu. Service was friendly and attentive. During the course of the day, our food and drink orders were brought to our sunbeds. Although Hotel Puerto Holbox is only a short walk to the town, it is peaceful, quiet and meditative. The hotel design blends harmoniously with the palm trees and ocean views -- folk art in orange and turquoise, white tents that flap like sails, conch shells outlining the paths. Sunsets were stunning. Exotic birds were everywhere. We spent five days at Hotel Puerto Holbox and wished we could have stayed longer. If you go, walk to the end of Punta Coco Beach to see pelicans and cormorants. Walk the sandbar at Mosquito Beach to see flamingos. It is like heaven on earth. Hotel Puerto Holbox more than lived up to our expectations. We would go back in a heartbeat.
The location is just outside of the busy area of town. It's on a nice area of beach where you can relax and enjoy the day go by or spend time in the water. The bar staff is friendly and quick to refresh your drink. The rooms are simple but quiet and relaxing. The pool is great for a nice little swim. The front desk was always helpful with any request whether it be regarding a taxi or place for dinner. We were looking for a place to unwind and unplug and found exactly that here. When we would be out and about in the town, staff from the hotel would recognize us and give us a "hello." If you are looking for a nice, quiet place to relax and quiet area of beach to enjoy beautiful sunsets, this is the perfect place. The sun beds are comfy. There's no towel game to be played here because there are enough loungers for all guests. The loungers are not placed on top of each other and crammed together. You have some privacy under your palapa that includes a nice table for drinks, meals, or even a game of cribbage. There are no TVs in the rooms. There was not a hair dryer in the room. There was a safe in the room and a fridge. The rooms were simple but clean. It was perfect for what we were looking for. The breakfast that was included was made to order from a menu and was good. I miss sitting on the beach enjoying my coffee and fresh fruit every morning. We do plan to return again and hope to bring our adult children. We enjoyed Holbox and this hotel so much. I hope as Holbox grows, this hotel doesn't lose the charm it has and the staff that is most certainly part of the charm of this hotel. It is a perfect place to unwind and relax. You can easily walk the beach all the way into town from this hotel or the other direction and explore.
Three days at Puerto Holbox - with breakfast included was a pretty good value. Enjoyed the lounging area - was very open and spacious enough - not jammed as many of the other beach hotels closer to the downtown. Also the location was close enough to walk to the downtown square in minutes, but just on the edge of the most crowded and higher traffic areas. So a very nice balance of both. Nice room, with beach "view", but most of the ground floor view is blocked during the day by these tented beds closer to the water that their restaurant/bar has for public to buy drinks and sit. (It's not a big deal, but next time would probably request a second floor or a slightly cheaper garden view). Room was clean and beds are fine (mexican firm, but not rock hard). Staff was friendly and efficient.
Good: - Location: calm compared to other hotels in the center and still only 5mins to walk there - Beach: Clean and beautiful - Room: Clean and modern with all you need Medium: - Breakfast: Like the Fruit Platter, orange juice ok, coffee ok, a la carte possibilities not so nice - Lunch & Dining: never had - Service: nice and friendly except of 1 guy who was bored and doesn't seem to like his job. They do not speak English very well Overall it's not a bad hotel but could be definitely improved.
