I thought I was lucky to get such a good deal on a Friday evening, however, I woke up on Saturday morning and was covered in bites. The staff were friendly, it was cheap. I think they should have closed the windows!! I closed them as soon as I entered the room, which was approximately 8pm, but still got the bites!
- UPDATE 1/9/19 - Firstly - booking.com have told me that Oyo have not been responding to their own emails to the chain. Great way to build a business relationship with the website providing you with guest. Still no sign of a refund. Oyo are now saying that the bank I used to pay the room with is not accepting a refund. They then called me and said they would send me an email asking for new bank details, which I replied to. Oyo, who are based in India, then tried calling me at 5am UK time to say that haven't received my email reply. Next day, a lady calls me and says they would be sending me another email. Nothing. The next day, I receive an email saying Oyo have been trying to contact me and I haven't answered my phone. 0 missed calls. Becoming laughable now. DO NOT book through this company. --UPDATE-- I received an email this morning from an Akanksha saying this: Hi Sweeks, We have initiated your refund you will get refund within 7-14 working day. Looking forward for your understanding . Thanks Akanksha Pandey Imagine my disgust. Do NOT book with any Oyo hotels. They're criminals. Terrible experience. I accidently booked the wrong dates, which I immediately cancelled within 2 minutes of confirmation. Stade Court's mother company, Oyo, took the money anyway. I received an email saying my cancellation had been confirmed and that if money was taken, not to worry "it would be with me shortly." It's been 3 weeks and nothing received. After conflicting answers from hotel and Oyo staff, my refund should have been actioned in 5 working days. Nothing. Then I was promised the next 2 working days. Nothing. Then "it would be with me latest of Wednesday. Nothing by Friday. Sue, an employee at the hotel, was the only one who seems competent and chased it down for me. Even called back twice after I missed her first call. Assured me it will be 5 working days. Obviously this is unacceptable and I have taken my complaint to booking.com, to no fault of Sue's because she's not the one feeding me BS from the start, and I hope to have this resolved soon.
I'd read some truly dreadful reviews about the Stade Court, about the manager threatening to call the Police and not once but a number of times. My wife came into the restaurant at about 6.30, a table by the window with views over the Channel, and everything immaculately clean. Yes we had a Groupon voucher but the food was hot and ample for us. The single waitresswas delightful and coped well although it was early evening so the restaurant was quiet. Our tiny screw topped bottles of wine were OK-ish but we enjoyed the meal. No longer a Best Western it seems.
Meal ONLY on 21st August 2019 My husband received a gift voucher for his 70th Birthday for two people: Two course meal and small bottle of wine each. Three of us attended the restaurant paying the difference. The menu for the above was restricted eg NOT INC VEGETARIAN OR ASIAN MEALS also no fish on this menu. I don’t eat meat but I do eat fish, so I couldn’t eat from the restricted menu. The jug of water for the table was warm. Once we requested if we could have cold water, ice cubes were put in a jug but melted within seconds due to the warm water. The starter I asked for was NOT AVAILABLE. The sweet AGAIN, NOT AVAILABLE. All three of us found the building “ Shabby” in need of more than a face lift. The restaurant was also in need of the same TLC. The staff were attentive as we were the only customers in the restaurant. I WOULD UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES RECOMMEND THE RESTAURANT TO ANYBODY FOR A MEAL.
A couple of restful nights at a basic but efficient hotel. Well situated on the sea front at Hythe. Slight hiccup on arrival with someone else of the same name. Potential minor language problem with some staff, but this did not detract from the standard of service. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
We booked this through a Wowcher deal so the package was about £88 for dinner, bed and breakfast. For that sort of price what do you really want? I was a little apprehensive about staying but we just used it as a base and for one night it was perfectly fine. We were lucky as we had good weather and we were out quite a bit. I found the staff friendly on check in. Our room was on the 4th floor, very small windows and no air conditioning so I can imagine if it is really hot it might not be that pleasant. The room was clean, there are tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water. The bath had quite a few stains but I am sure it was clean but I didn't really feel inclined to use it. Dinner was absolutely fine. We both had a prawn curry and both had desserts. The desserts were nicely presented, we had a window seat overlooking the sea and included in the price was two small bottles of wine. It was sad that on a Saturday night in August the restaurant wasn't busy. Breakfast was a cooked buffet and again was perfectly nice, there was no rush to get food, not lots of people all getting in the way, it was chilled and relaxed. I really didn't see any issues whatsoever with the food and I have stayed at a lot of hotels. The hotel is nicely situated and we walked the three miles from the hotel to Sandgate and back. The hotel doesn't have parking but there is plenty of free road parking around the hotel and we didn't have any issues getting parked up. As I said at the beginning of my review, this was a really cheap overnight deal, the hotel was great to stay over night whilst we explored Hythe and Sandgate - what more can you ask for? If I ever go back to Hythe I would certainly stay at this hotel again.
This is all that's terrible about seaside hotels in the UK. Dreary and horrible basic rooms. No charm at all. Avoid like the plague. Best tyo pay a bit more to get a better place to stay. Weird design of the rooms which had the bedrooms at one level and bathroom up a staircase. Very inconvenient and the shower was weak and generally not nice
WE ordered Chicken for dinner and asked how we wanted it cooked. ie tender or overcooked we replied tender but the chicken was so overcooked we were unable to cut it. the waitress said she would speak to the chef but she did not return. we left leaving the food on the table on the way out I spoke to the waitress and asked what the chef said. said he said the food was ok even though he had not looked at it. we were very upset as we were not offered an apology or alternative meal.
Have just returned home from another really enjoyable stay at the Stadt Court and this was our best visit yet in terms of the welcome and most helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and coupled with the weather, we had a great week. The hotel is well situated to use as a base and explore the delights of Kent The breakfast each morning had a good selection of full English, or Continental with cereals and fruit. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening and were not disappointed with the quality and value. Our room had a great view of the sea front and was comfortable and tidy. Special mentions to Antonio, Cyril, and Marta who went that extra mile to ensure our stay was memorable. Thank you to all the team at the Stadt Court - we have already booked for next year.
I reserved a room through booking.com for 29 June, I didn't require the room in the end so I cancelled it within stated deadline, booking.com confirmed no payment due. However the Stade Court Hotel proceeded to take payment from my credit card 10 days after cancellation and they still have not refunded my payment nearly 4 weeks later despite numerous telephone calls to them they never return my call I just get put through to someone who cannot speak English and therefore takes a message. Booking.com are now dealing on my behalf. Never ever will I stay there again, absolute shambles, no customer service whatsoever. Any apology on trip advisor they give is so insincere.
