We booked a suite with private whirlpool during the new year's break and had a very relaxing stay. The hotel is located a bit apart from the others resorts/shops/beach (about 10 minutes walk), surrounded by the golf. The suite was amazing: very big bedroom (and bed), large living room and very large balcony with heated pool. The room faced the golf course and the mountains in the background provided a great scenery. This property is an adult only which made it a very relaxing stay, as there were mainly couples staying at the hotel. Included breakfast and dinner were good and healthy (food was not too fat, which was enjoyable). We had free access to the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi from 2pm to 6:30pm. The best part was the heated pool (whirlpool) on our balcony. It unfortunately stopped heating for a day, but the hotel staff did its best to fix it. Staff was pleasant too. Definitely a place to go if you look for a quiet stay.
Perfect place for a relaxed holiday. Very friendly staff. Delicious food buffets. Nice spacy room with beautiful view. We enjoyed it very much. Golf course is also very nice to play. We certainly come back.
We chose the hotel because we were looking for a place to relax in the sun between the years and we were not disappointed. The staff (esp. Wasseem at the reception, Reda in the restaurant and Mohamed from house-keeping) was very nice and the service good. Unlike during other holidays in the region, we never felt 'harrassed' despite travelling as two women. The food was good - especially on NYE - and very nicely displayed but the meat in particular could have been better prepared (often dry and almost cold). We very much enjoyed the heated pool which was great to swim in. Besides, it was very quiet, both due to no children being allowed in the hotel and sophisticated guests (no drunk people despite all inclusive). Although we did not spend a day at the beach because it was crowded and there were no good opportunities to swim owing to the high number of water sports, we very much recommend the Steigenberger Makadi for a retreat in the sun.
Just returned from 2 weeks stay 15th December at this fabulous resort.Where do I begin there are too many things to praise but here I go Yahir pool attendant the most dedicated man to his pride and joy hotel pool worked endlessly and tirelessly and even found time to clean our glasses daily he was constantly cleaning all areas well done Yahir miss you The food was of a very high standard plenty of choice and enough to please even the fussiest of people, Solomon what a treasure always a smile and a joke, Mohammad.times 2 Kalid , the head waiter in the reataurant sorry cant bring your name to mind Hi table 5 he will remember me by this remark lol Saphy always liked to look full of his own importance but a bit shy on the work force The Hotel Manager always on hand and around the hotel Daily Room division Manager sorry your name cant recall but always around and a cheerful hello last but not least our house boy Ahmed o Mran hope this is right you did a very good job well done room 6317 ? Only one complaint was the wine oh dear a disaster but made up with plenty of G and Ts we hope to return for Christmas next year our best wishes to you all Rita and Vince
It was our 1st stay there: the place is excellent (even if the rooms need to be renovated), the employees are nice and helpful ... It was a pleasure to stay there for one week at that period of the year!
What a shame this hotel fell well short of expectations. We booked it based on the excellent reviews, but it didn't live up to them. Yes, there were positives, the rooms were nice and big, clean and tidy, if a little tired in some aspects. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful; the pool area was nice and the entertainment was very good. However...the wine was appalling and undrinkable! Most people were drinking gin or vodka because all the other spirits were dreadful too, (not branded). After complaining to the management we were provided with a slightly better wine, which was at least drinkable, without the disgusting after taste. However, this had to be asked for each time, and then the waiter would say there's a charge, and then we would say, no, speak to the manager, and then he would come back with an old, opened bottle, not quite full and with bubbles on the surface, suggesting the old bottles were being filled from a box, or barrel somewhere - in fact you couldn't get an unopened bottle of wine without paying extra for it. Now, the food. I am quite a fussy eater, and am allergic to some foods, so a buffet is ideal for me, where I can choose items. This was so small a buffet I struggled to find something to eat. Hardly anything was labelled, so I didn't know what was in dishes, and those that were labelled didn't tell the full story (mashed potatoes...lovely...mashed potatoes that had beef mixed through them!) ( courgettes and cheese...and beef mixed in again). The salads were disappointing and the sweets! Well,.. hard, dry, rubbery. The hotel did try to help, - we were offered the a la carte restaurants in the resort/ (yes, we were forgotten to be picked up too, despite 2 phone calls). The chef even offered to cook something for me - but I don't want to go on holiday and have to think what I want for tea the next day! Breakfast - again disappointing. Yes, they would cook you a omelette, or egg, but the pastries were again hard and dry and the fruit was mainly chopped up apple that was turning brown and the juice choice was of a poor quality. Tea arrives in a chipped cup with a tea bag in it, unless you specifically ask for a pot. A luxury 5* spa is advertised - it is tiny, opens at 10, but they don't switch the sauna or steam room on until 2.00p.m! Wi-fi is very slow, and you can only register 1 item each per room.Shampoos etc were again poor quality. Now for Tui. We rang then to change our seats (another £40 cost) and were told quite clearly that the coach transfer would take 1 and 1/2 hours, while if we paid for a private transfer, at £56, it would only be 1/2 hour. Once off the plane, we still had to queue up at the Tui desk with everyone else, to get allocated a mini bus number, and then head to that. Our private transfer and coach arrived at the hotel at the same time, and on the return to the airport, it was the same situation, both arriving at the same time. Very disappointed overall. Would not return to Egypt and it has taught us not to trust Tui, and not to believe everything you read in reviews.having said all this, we met some really lovely people who made our holiday, and the hotel on new years eve was lovely the food still not labelled but of much better quality, the wine still shocking, they really need to sort this as they will really lose business
Just had a wonderful two weeks in this lovely hotel. Weather was good which was an added bonus. This was our second visit (first time was November 2015) and it was as good as we remembered. Rooms and all public area’s kept exceptionally clean as was the fabulous heated pool. Rooms are so spacious with lots of storage space. Extremely comfortable beds. Mini bar with free water and soft drinks replenished daily. Food pretty good on the whole. Drinks sadly a huge disappointment. We would not return to the hotel for this reason, the wine was undrinkable ! Many guests were complaining about the quality of the house wine it was the worst wine we have ever tasted in our fifteen visits to Egypt. We certainly don’t remember it being this bad two years ago. Cocktails were not great either. The only things we found reasonable were the gin and the vodka. The hotel has to address this problem immediately or it will loose business. The WiFi is also problematic. The gala dinners on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve were brilliant especially New Year’s Eve, they went to so much trouble, the bar and restaurant were decorated beautifully. It really was a perfect time to stay at this delightful hotel. The staff are all amazing and work so hard offering high standards of service. Management were always visibly present and are obviously keen to ensure this hotel continues to thrive. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and professional. A special hello to Lolita the guest relations lady who chatted to us daily and kindly arranged a second visit to one of the A la Carte restaurants for us after we were not picked up by the buggy after our first visit and we waited over an hour to get back! We visited the Asian fusion restaurant and the Indian in the Madinat and they were both so delicious, we loved both of them. A trip to the beach is a definite must, the shuttle will take you and pick you up. The beach is really nice and you can use the beach bars and beach restaurant of the Iberotel Makadi Hotel . The food was great and the wine quite decent, a huge improvement to the wine in our hotel! The festive season spent in Egypt made a memorable holiday, which we will never forget. Thank you to the wonderful management and staff of the Steigenberger Makadi Golf Hotel. ( please get the wine situation resolved and we would happily return)
This was my first visit to Steigenberger Makadi and all I can say is what a fantastic hotel and staff! My holiday from start to finish was awesome. The hotel is beautiful, rooms very large and the bathroom is huge. I have to say that the food at Steigenberger was the best I’ve had in my many trips to Egypt - I was cooked freshly boiled eggs for breakfast each morning and lunch at the pool bar was fantastic, Chef George you are awesome! Lots of space by the pool which was kept spotless by Yahia and great service from Soliman and Tyson. In the afternoon it was lovely to sit upstairs outside the bar and catch the sun. Special thanks to Ahmed and Mr Mahmoud in the restaurant, you look after all your guests so well. And finally, some great nights spent in the bar being looked after by tall Mr Mohammed, Shafy, smiling Khalid, dancing Mohammed and Hamedy’s great cocktails. You all do a fantastic job, especially on a very busy New Years Eve - what a brilliant party!! The staff here are what makes this hotel such a special place. Excelent value for money. Big modern rooms. Very clean. High quality food. Relaxing. Pleasant heated pool with an amazing view. Too bad you can't walk around the golf, but understandable. Beach is within walking distance, if yo don't like to walk there is a free shuttle. The staff is always in a good mood, no effort is too much for them. Special thanks for Hassan (resto) and the pool boy! The best hotel from Makadi Bay!
This was the seventh time we stayed here, so they must be doing something right. In fact they do everything right. From arriving to leaving we had a wonderful winter break. We were recognised on arrival and immediately made to feel at home. We had the same room as we had previously, with an excellent view over Makadi Bay, The room is spacious and as ever spotlessly clean. The restaurant provides a wide range of food for both breakfast and dinner and all well cooked and presented. We had lunch at the pool bar, which again is of good quality with a constant supply of drinks throughout the day. The evening entertainment in the Eagle bar was exceptional for such a small hotel. I leave the best 'till last, the staff. Throughout our stay we received excellent and professional service always with a genuine smile. I could well name more than a dozen staff who deserve a mention, but I will keep it to three, Mohammed, the Restaurant Manager who was ever present with a smile and a chat. Reda our waiter, who again provided excellent service and as ever with a smile, and finally Yahia, who although described as the Pool Attendant, is far more. The pool area is his pride, always spotlessly clean, and his aim is to make sure that every guest has a very good experience,from providing extra towels, cleaning sunglasses and a flower for the ladies. We will be back next year.
