Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort & Spa

If 5 star, luxury and quality are synonymous for you, than Marrakesh is none of these things. I don’t know by what metric they consider themselves a 5 star resort but realistically it is a 3 star, mid-range hotel. In terms of quality service and luxury, it is utterly non-existent. While our stay was generally fine and uneventful, for the cost of staying at this hotel you’d do far better off considering an alternative that can legitimately claim its 5 stars on a similar budget. Initially we were not given the room we booked nor informed otherwise at check-in. The room we were given was quite literally in the furthest recesses of the hotel. On query with reception about the issue we were told our room was booked out and they had upgraded us. How a smaller sized room with two twin beds pushed together and draped in too-small sheets was considered an upgrade is beyond me. Regardless, we were moved to a different room, albeit not considerably better. The hotel itself is basic, amenities are lacking and you are expected to pay for absolutely everything. Even the cheap laundry bag! It’s the type of hotel that rings you at 11:45 to remind you have 15 mins to checkout. Outside, the loading dock to the hotel is right beside the underwhelming entry and is the first thing you are greeted with. There is a large construction site next door, which while quiet on our stay during the national holidays may be an issue at other times. There was a wedding one of the days we stayed where the bar and garden were taken over and (the only) access to the beach was blocked by the ceremony. I assume all done for the $$ without an iota of consideration to the guests who equally paid to use these amenities. In 5 days our sheets were not changed even once, despite no eco-card being available. This didn’t bother us, but this is not luxury. The rugs next to the bed were filthy with sand and gecko poop and staff do not have a means to clean them. If you want to have a bath in the evening I’d suggest turning it on in the morning when you go out and maybe it’ll be full when you get back in the evening. There were a multitude of other anomalies; switches that did nothing, lamps that couldn’t be turned on, recessed sockets that couldn’t be used, faucets so close to the sink they were unusable, safety deposit boxes that constantly beeped errors, doors that didn’t lock, dark unlit corridors, beds stored permanently outside your room.... When I think about it, maybe 3 stars is generous.

My sister and I stayed in a gorgeous, big twin room on the top floor for over a week. Our view looked over the neighbouring block that was holiday apartments in the same design and we could also watch the sun rise from the ocean early every morning. Anyway, it was definitely the superior side of the hotel to be on. The room was wonderfully clean, the robes made of light cotton and the decor demonstrated attention to detail-very Moroccan. The twin beds were happily both double beds although the mattresses weren’t the best, dipping in the middle. Oh and better lighting needed in the bathroom, too dark for anything really. The Marrakesh is right on the beach and far enough out of the main town to be quiet; and the pool is approx. 25m so perfect for early morning lap swimming. The breakfast was huge with lots of choice but only one chef was able to cook a delicious omelette (his name tag said Tor) and we learnt not to order the omelette if anyone else was cooking them! It is a 5-10min tuk tuk ride (depending on traffic) into the town proper (excellent cheap street food and heavenly cheap massages) or to the train station. You can walk it in 25mins along the beach but it was so, so hot we only did that once. At one point the AC and internet didn’t work properly in our room and they fixed them as quickly as they could and then sent a note and a present to apologise the next day-I felt like this was a nice touch. Furthermore, on the day I was checking out my train didn’t leave until 4pm and they let me have a 3pm check out time (thanks for this goes to the very helpful Jatupong who always replied promptly to my emails). When hotels extend this courtesy it means a lot to me and makes up for pretty much anything. There were only two negatives. A waiter called Nui Lek, who was surly and offhand during breakfast and then he would go to the outside bar to set it up later in the morning and put on loud nightclub music??? Really not the time or the place! All the guests were lying near the beach or pool very quietly trying to read or doze. Why ANY music? Nobody likes the same thing so just forget it! The sound of the ocean lapping on the sand and the sea breeze rustling the palm trees is all any person escaping the city needs! I asked him to turn it down every day and every day his reaction became more rude and dismissive until I was almost afraid to approach him-I certainly didn’t order any drinks from him-god knows what he might have done to them. The other thing was the private functions. Set up started at 2pm and basically took over the area where everyone sunbathes in the shade of the palm trees. And the function meant the beachside bar area was pretty much out of bounds to paying guests for the night. But to be fair, the loud festivities stopped by 10pm so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Beautiful experience. Staff are very attentive and pleasing. Rooms are clean, with good amenities. Highly recommend. Property is located at beachfront and has a good size pool. Like band/ singer nxt to pool every evening. Seating is on beanbags easy and relaxing. Has a adequately equipped gym. Breakfast has good mix of western and asian/Thai dishes.

1. Air con down on 10pm and we have to call technicians to fix it, he take vacuum machine in to my room and make sound noise while my family going to bed(see attach of photo) 2. Pool bar call to room to confirm drink on 10.30pm, this none sense service. They can call in next day not try to disturb guess on late night time. 3. We inform front desk when we check out, until now no one call to us to explain issue and offer any compensation. This is all issue I have, surely it's hard for us to come back again or recommend to our friends to this hotel.

Awesome and best property...The pool room is so damn good, the room was absolutely stunning ... Breakfast was good with thai and western food, quality of food is best...I stayed their it's one of the best hotel in hua hin.

A nice north African feel to this hotel.not too grand but not a cheap feel either. Beautiful pool area and outdoor bar overlooking beautiful beach that is literally 10 feet from the pool and can walk for miles. The breakfast was poor enough compared to other 5 star hotels and the restaurant has a cheap enough feel about it in parts. The room is spacious, the biggest bed I have ever stayed in .old worldly charming room with bathroom covered in mosaic tiles. Definitely different but nice. I would go for room overlooking the pool ,even if it is next doors pool ! As the main rooms have limited views unless you pay for the beachfront rooms which are excellent. I would recommend this hotel ,good for families, couples and loners !

Great environment for a relaxing getaway. Good hospitality from the staff, from the check in all the way to checking out. Rooms were well maintained and clean. The beach here was much quiet compared to the main Hua Hin beach coast.

Marrakesh Huahin is a resort in Huahin with Moroccan style and they also participate Make a Green choice program. The resort is located opposite side of Bluport shopping mall and not far from the night market which is very convenience. When we arrived, staff show their enthusiasm on rushing the room for us and even called to inform us for room readiness when we went to a pool while waiting for a room which is good and show their empathy for guest who drove a long way from Bangkok. Breakfast is wide spready and tasty, the noodle station also very delicious. They even raised few cats in the property which look like they look after them very well. The most favourite part is this resort have accesble to beach front and the water is still clear and look clean unlike in Pattaya. However, the reason that I don't give 5 star as they are some area concerned that should have been improve; 1. They let "trainee" escort us to the room which I have no offense on that but they should train the trainee properly in every way to be ready for answering the question from guest. I asked him that can we get 2 room keys and the answer I received was "It depends" which I asked further and he cut the conversation as "he was just a trainee" Would rather teach him to give an answer what he doesn't know how to answer to guest like "Please let me check for you" and he can come back to us with confidence than just saying that he is not a staff. At this point, the price that we paid ain't cheap and we expected to receive a proper service from "staff" not "trainee". Or else, I would think that the staffs are too lazy to left the desk to escort guest themselves. 2. At the pool should provide drinking water or some refreshment as it can be a nice gezture from the hotel with the heat from the sun. 3. Should change either sink for bathtub of the faucet as the water and easily spill out of the sink Please take my comment as a constructive feedback for the better improvement.

WOW. How anyone could give this hotel less then 5 stars does not make sense to me. From start to finish we were looked after by the staff. I dont even know where to start! The food and cocktails are delicious and you can have delivered to your sun loungers whilst you relax by the pool. The hotel is situated literally on the beach so you can jump down onto the sand and sea! Our room was absolutely beautiful- THE biggest and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! We also had a jaccuzzi on the balcony over looking the beach which was dreamy. I never wanted to leave. Great location too! Cant wait to hopefully visit again some day. Thank you so much!

I booked this hotel because it seemed a good deal as hotels in Hua Hin are quite expensive when compared to other places in Thailand. I chose a room with a private pool. I loved my plunge pool and felt it was worth the extra cost for the luxury it provided. The hotel sits behind another building which has access to the long pool displayed in the advertising for this resort, however the resort pool is stunning with six huge palm trees incorporated into the design and overlooks the beautiful beach behind. I have read all the reviews complaining about this hotel and I cannot see that many are justified. While the room decor wasn't really to my taste as it is far too dark, it is fine. I was not overly impressed with the bedding as it was too hard as were the pillows. These things are minor, and not enough to complain about. I also agree that beverages in the hotel were expensive, as they are in many better hotels. There is a huge shopping centre less than a ten minute walk down the road to purchase alcohol from and there are many places in the area to eat and drink for less. I do not understand the complaints about the lack of choice at breakfast as I found there were plentiful choices and the food provided was good. While this resort is at the furtherest end of the town, it also had the best beach and to me was was well worth the trade off. The hotel provides a free nightly shuttle to the night market, which very few patrons bother to use. I found all the staff I interacted with to be exceptionally pleasant and proficient in their jobs. I would certainly stay there again.
