Clean, newly renovated, nice and convenient location. I just not received any email regarding after hours check in and was told they could only email it same day of check in. Provided alternative email adress but still no instruction received. Staff were helpful and professional specially Security. I read the bad reviews from a few years back regarding mean security and I’m glad I had a totally different experience. Will definitely book this place again in the future.

Stacy the front desk staff was super pleasant and made our check in quick and easy, communication with the front desk the night off our stay due to our flight delayed they left the instructions and key with the security and room was quite, clean, and cozy.

Overall, we had a good stay. This was our second stay at Royal Kūhiō. The person at the front desk was not very forthcoming with information during check-in, e.g., we had to figure out how to use the key fobs because we were not told how/where to use them. Fortunately, I had a vague recollection of how the key fobs worked from a previous stay a couple of years ago. Another issue was loud music played at a nearby venue that filled our room on the 11th floor until about midnight on Friday & Saturday nights.

Great gem in the heart of Waikiki

The room was a nice layout and very clean. A larger bed in the one bedroom would be nice. A/C worked well especially in the bedroom. Building is overall clean and well maintained but could use updating. Location is excellent and price per night is much better than a hotel. It’s also nice to have a kitchen!

This condo is not the most up to date. We didn’t necessarily mind that. It had what we were specifically looking for in a kitchen so we could prepare our own food and not leave in poverty. Eating out here would be extremely expensive. The other thing we wanted was parking. Parking in Waikiki is a nightmare. The main bed was good but the pull out on the couch was not great. Bad mattress and left you a bit sore the next day. If I was just rating these things d probably go 4 out of 5 stars. The kicker was all out extra visitors (cockroaches). Not like an infestation but we were killing them regularly. We used a good share of cockroach spray. We went down to see if the Vacation Internationale people could help and they told us “yeah you are in Hawaii there are cockroaches.” They did send someone up to spray but I was disappointed when he just whipped out the same Walmart roach spray we’d been using ourselves. I am not sure if like nicer hotels and every place just expects roaches in everything . If so I guess that’s just what you get in Hawaii. Maybe that is not the norm. I don’t know. Overall the room served out needs but we won’t miss the cockroaches. Maybe update the interior of these rooms and make them really nice too. We felt like part of the roach prob was in part due to the older interior. Not sure if that’s true. Next time I am still looking for a place with a kitchen and parking but it won’t be the Royal Kuhio. Oh the pool was cold too.

The hotel was older but nice, we were under the impression that we were getting a room that slept 4, as in two beds and we did but it was a pullout couch with a paper thin mattress that I wouldn’t even let my dog sleep on let alone my daughter and mother in law. Outside of that the place was clean and average.

Area is central, condo has everything you need and it’s clean. Find a cockroach here and there but it’s expected as they are all over Hawai’i even at the most expensive hotels (we’ve stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, they had roaches too :) ) Unit could use maintenance on their sliding doors. Ours was very heavy and gets stuck at times. Whenever the upstairs unit opens their sliding door we could hear it and feel the vibrations so clearly it isn’t just our unit’s sliding door. Kids loved all the water toys left behind and guests ate free to use them including beach chairs. Overall we had a good stay. Free parking and bedroom were main reasons why we booked this place. Stayed here a couple of times before but in different units. You will save $50 a day on parking as it’s standard for hotels and most condos to charge 50-75/day for parking. So thank you Kuhio!

We had Jack hammering feet away from our condo windows during our stay. They would wake us up and go until around 5. Playing loud music when the hammers, drills and saws were quiet. I undersrand they are upgrading their building but we received no compensation for the horrible noise and had to leave the whole day. We got a condo so we could enjoy and relax some days. There was no warning at the time of booking. We asked for a partial refund and were refused.
