Royal Hotel Saigon4.0 out of 5.0

Royal Hotel Saigon is, undoubtedly, in a great location, near everything in District 1 - shopping, tourist spots. Hotel staff were warm and hospitable. I stayed in Ho Chi Minh for over a week and glad that their breakfast spread offered a lot of choices daily. My room was in the newer building. It was facing the courtyard, not the road, such that I did not have any problems with noise. I had a big room with a nice king-sized bed and soft, fluffy pillows. The only downside during my stay was the very intermittent WiFi in my room.
Stayed here for a night on Vietnam's Independence Day. Arrived at 11 and was already allowed to check in. The staffs helped me around a lot(Guide to places). The Room was good and clean with the basic amenities. Location of this hotel is really in the centre of everything (walking distance to most attractions) with McD just next door. Only downside is my room didn't have a view. Maybe you will need to request higher floors for it. Overall a good hotel for the price. Will return.
i found the hotel staff extremely helpful and very efficient.the rooms were clean and tidy.breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices.restaurant food great.the tour organizer went out of his way to get me on a speedboat tour to the cu chi tunnels.to sum it up a good hotel
Very disapointed , we only ate at their restaurant, my rice paper rolls were still hard in some part , the praws were very thinly cut leaving you with not much meat, too much mint in it overpowering the taste. I tried to explain it to the staff who didn't speak much english.
We visited Ho-chi-Minh a few months back, and were put up in this hotel. The best part about being in this hotel is the location. Being in the heart of District I, and practically at the centre of District I, noting is too far from here. While the hotel is fine, some of the rooms may be a little claustrophobic and dark, having no natural light or natural ventilation whatsoever. Food is good, and breakfast being a wide spread, having something interesting to eat for everyone.
We arrived as a large family and made to feel welcome, rooms comfortable and roomy, great breakfast, great family stay and very central. Good pool and outdoor area. Value for money stay, especially for families
We stayed here for 2 weeks in July. This is our second stay at the Kimdo. We were greeted in a professional and courteous manner by the Front Office Manager Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy My. She kindly escorted us from the gorgeous lobby to our room and she made us feel welcome immediately. The room was modern and spotless. You really can't beat the location of the Kimdo. All of Saigon is right at the doorstep of the hotel. Mr. Nhan Si of guest relations ensured we were provided flawless, upscale, professional and high class experiences during every day of our stay. It's amazing how much fun you can have when you find someone like him at your disposal. We must also mention the delicious breakfasts and dinners served at the Kimdo. The breakfast at the Royal Cafe Restaurant was well equipped for our insatiable morning appetites. We truly appreciated the service offered from Tran Chanh, the F&B Manager and the entire team in making our dining experiences a pleasure. We will definitely be returning to the Kimdo after some touring around Vietnam.
This is a perfect location in HCM, walk to major tourist locations like market, parks, palace, etc. Hotel is tired, old, but clean and staff work hard. Good food in restaurants and breakfast, pool is nice. The square in front of hotel is very active in evenings for walking around. Lots of close shops and food outlets
The hotel is quite rundown and the aircon don't seems to be working quite well. Furnitures are quite old and the door knob seems fragile. Encountered power trip during my second night stay too. However the staff is pretty service oriented and the location of the hotel is not too far away from Ben Thah Market.
The Royal cannot be faulted for location, the staff too are very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is sadly lacking, and you can't help but feel that with a bit of love, and a bit of thought, this place could be amazing. Our trip to Vietnam started here and we were ushered into a room that was very hot, with an air conditioner that barely worked and with the unmistakable funk of stale cigarette smoke wafting through the air - we weren't particularly impressed, so we asked for another room and to their credit they moved us. The new room was not amazing but it didn't stink and the air conditioner worked a treat. One positive was the bed, it was just as I liked it - firm but soft (if that makes sense?), huge and dressed with fresh white linen, pretty much spot on. Another positive was the breakfast, it was good and fresh and offered a nice variety of western and local fare and the people serving it were all nice and attentive. The pool also is pretty damn fine but the adjoining "fitness club" is hilarious - really crappy cheapo machines that creak and splutter like they're about to fall apart when you attempt to use them - this is a a good example of something that could be fixed very easily, without great expense and would really help to enhance the place - if your reading this Mr or Mrs Royal Hotel, I'm telling you that it's false economy buying the cheapest machines money can buy, if you lashed out a few bucks to get some equipment that actually worked, and showed you gave a cr&p, it would probably pay for itself in return custom in a matter of weeks. Anyhow, the Royal Hotel is really only Royal by name, not by nature - yes the location is amazing, but if you're after something a bit spesh or fancy in HCMC then you might be better looking elsewhere.
