I normally travel for work and this trip was no exception. Being the third trip to Ho Chi Minh I decided to take a chance and try a different hotel from my last stay. That was, I would say an great unassuming hotel, but its distance from the heart of the city did not help with my travel decision. I wanted to be in the heart of the city and you can't get more central then Renaissance. I got booked in the club room which was within my corporate limit which gave me access to the club lounge, with breakfast and a hotel pickup from the airport. While my travel agent booked me a Toyota Vios, I got a brand new BMW Series 7. Hey hey!!! The hotel lobby is modern and efficient but seemingly spartan. There is nowhere for guest to sit and wait. There was no place to sit and wait for my Uber ride. The staff are pleasant. A nice warm welcome. The room, however, was a let down. I got a river view room which is great when you want to see how Ho Chi Minh is evolving. It helps when the room is on the 12th floor and above too. The room was huge, however, it looks like a remnant from the 80s with pine wood furnishing. A coffee machine in the room sounds great unless you realise that you will be flooding the room if you don't place the coffee capsule in the extractor right. I gave up after the third try. Don't expect a Nespresso machine: it is a faux espresso bar. The room foyer floor also shows the hotel's age with grouting chipping off. The carpet I guess is new due to the new carpet smell in the room but with the pine wood furniture makes the room look dull and even more dated. You can say I really have been spoilt by the other hotels. But the bed was fantastic, and if you are going to be working 9 to 5 and still have an hour commuting both ways, that is all you need. What also wish they will do is fix their electrical outlets, one of it keeps rejecting my euro plug. The club lounge on the 18th floor is great although I would like to protest the timing of the last drinks (9.30pm is rather early) after a long day of work. Breakfast there is a good convenient way of beating the crowds in the downstairs restaurant. The spread is great and I had my sunny-side-ups and omelettes done fast and right. The staff are ever vigilant clearing dishes and wiping down tables. Location-wise, I got what I wanted. Lots of great restaurants up the road. Had great craft beers, and meals for a fraction of the prices I will be paying in Singapore. If you really like walking the city, everything you need is in a 4 square metre area. Would I stay at the hotel again? I am half hearted about it. Great location, friendly staff, great service, but when you come back after a hard day's work, the last thing you need is having the rest of your energy being sucked out by the look of the room. Great for sleeping though.
We loved the beds! After a long day exploring the city the comfortable beds were incredibly welcoming! The staff and service were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. We wish we had more time ti explore the hotel.
Stayed here for three nights. Views of the Saigon river and the famous city traffic at the round about below. Staff were very helpful and so polite. Club lounge is a huge bonus! Roof top bar and swimming pool are great too. Restaurant on ground floor has a great buffet or a la carte. Lots of traditional and western food options. The only negative was from the noise of a construction site nearby which was constant. City maps and information provided was brilliant - lots of things to see and do.
I loved my stay at this hotel. The staff went out of their way ensure my girlfriends birthday was one to remember. They brought a complimentary bottle of wine without being asked to do so! The spa was a great deal and she absolutely loved it. The rooftop pool was to die for with spectacular views of the city.
Located strategically with a great Saigaon River View to boast, the property is a wonderful choice for business or leisure. The rooms are well equipped and the service is great. The Morning break fast buffet has a good variety and the managers take special care to get you any dietary requirements. I had a vegetarian dish prepared the next morning as the manager got to know about it and this shows the care they take to serve their guests. The evening bar at the lobby area is wonderfully stocked for you to have a drink or coffee at any given time. Enjoy this great property when in Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City
We stay with all family. The service was always excellent. The staff was very helpful, and very dedicated to customer service. The room are a little bit old, but otherwise this was an excellent stay. I would recommend it any time. The location is very convenient as well by the river, as it name says, and in the city. I would definitely stay there again if I come back to Ho Chi Mihn City.
We really enjoyed this traditional hotel in the middle of hoh chi minh city. We enjoyed the pool, gym and in-hotel restaurant, served us delicious food at a reasonable price! We will certainly return and stay longer next time we are in Vietnam.
This is my second time stayed in Renaissance Riverside Hotel. The reason is because my boss is a smoker and there is almost no smoking room hotel with 5 star in city center. Contrast the first staying experience, I have to say the sleeping room sound-proofing is really bad! At first I stayed in 9th floor, in a riverview room. I found that it was very close to street, and with motorcycles and ships's noisy. The curtains also let sunshine came in very early, so I can't sleep well. The second day I told the reception and they arranged change my room to high floor corner immediately. Then it's a nightmare. There was a door inside between next door and my room. I worked at desk and heard a women loudly laugh suddenly at about 11PM...so weird and scared me... After a while, I heard that there was a man coughing and talking in next door. There was a walking sound on the corridor, I didn't know if I was too nervous at that time, I felt I heard every sounds in my room. In the end I have to call front desk to remind the next door guests keep quiet. So if you want have a romantic night, I advise you not to choose this hotel.Walls have ears! But there customer service is really good. Everyday when I went to ground floor restaurant people smiled and provided good service to me. Their chef was always having good ideas, they provided me tiny sandwiched bagels and strawberry cocktail. Club floor lounge is a very good place for work in day and relax at night. I know they decorated the lobby last year.My boss said they were decorating the roof this time, in his room can hear, but he doesn't care about the noise, he likes the room that the hotel allow smokes.I think if the hotel wants to maintain the good reputation of the center, they will have to decorate the room to increase the noise prevention equipment. There are already many people complaining that the decoration facilities are old, and the beautiful lobby is just an image project. There are so many hotels around it now.
The location next to the river in the city centre is awesome. The room was excellent. However, every public area, especially the restaurants, were infested with Vietnamese + Chinese kids running around screaming and generally ruining the experience.
As Gold member of Marriott Rewards, now including Renaissance, I have stayed at many Marriott and Renaissance hotels. This is one of the best. We stayed here 5 nights. On the check in day, by 11:00 AM, I got a message from the hotel notifying me the room was ready. I requested an extra bed and it was setup by the time I checked in. Staffs were very friendly and took care of any requests you would have. We have access to the club at 18th floor and we came there every morning for breakfast. The Vietnamese coffee was amazing. I happened to catch a name of one of the staffs in the club, Thuy, who was very attentive and provided us excellent service. I did not catch all the names, but all the staffs in the club were excellent. It's a pleasant experience. Gym is small but very nice and has all types of equipment I needed. I booked a room with river view and it was worth it. You can see the nice Saigon river below, the busy street along the river, and other high rise buildings. Amazing view. Totally satisfied and I would come back here next time I visit Saigon.
