Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon

As expected of the Marriott hospitality service, the service at the Renaissance was warm and friendly. We only stayed a night but was happy with our choice to stay there. It is located next to the river and we had a room with a view of the river. The location is central and only 10 minutes to a few places of interest including the Ben Thanh market for shopping. Lots of spas for massages, manicure and pedicures. Good restaurants nearby too. Conceirge was good with directions and we walked everywhere. We will definitely be back again.

I was recently in Ho Chi Minh for a business trip and stayed at the Renaissance. The hotel is in a good location, easy walking to Ben Thanh Market and other attractions. The lobby and restaurant area have recently been renovated are very nice. The rooms are clean and spacious, but a little tired. I enjoyed the use of the executive lounge and found a good selection of food and drink there, both in the morning and evenings. The staff was terrific. As the concierge for a good spot for a foot massage, and he directed me to a wonderful place a short walk from the hotel. I did not use the pool on the roof-top, but the views from up there are pretty great. In general, a very good hotel. Could be excellent with some renovations to the rooms. I would return.

Our family came to Saigon and checked in to this hotel. At first, we only wanted to spend a few days here then move to stay at a different hotel because we had over 3 weeks in this city. However, we ended up staying the entire 23 days at this place due to the excellent service that its staff offered us. We wrote down the names of the staff members that we often encountered, but in general, everyone we came across made us feel good and at ease as we were at home: 1). First of all, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim-Chi, the Front Office Manager of the hotel, is the best!... She was kind, courteous and professional. She gave us the impression of an experienced and concerned manager. 2). In the Viet Kitchen of the first floor, where we spent a lot of time eating breakfast, the following persons stand out with their excellent service:Son-Na (the Manager), Tam, Thao, K.Anh, Huong, Trang, Nhan, Linh, Bich, Hoang, Khanh-Quyen, Binh, Vy....The cook here, Ms. Hanh, is a sweet young lady and is a good one. 3). In the Club on the 18th Floor: Giang (the Manager), Anh, Kim, Thuy-Linh, Triet, Bao-An, Hanh, Hao, Trang, Ton, Ngoc-Anh...and we love the cook Ms. Dung, a very small and short young lady, with her special dish (Pho Ga Tam Hoang), who was always with a pleasant smile to come and greed us. 4). There were many young Interns from South Korea, who spoke no Vietnamese, also offered us excellent service. We are leaving for the US today, but will remember this hotel, with its beautiful view of the Saigon River from the 10th Floor, the fantastic room service, the foods, the drinks...but we will miss, most of all, the service of its staff. We'll be back to this hotel, for sure, in the future! BVN& Family

My wife and I stayed at Renaissance Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) on two separate occasions in June 2007. It is an old hotel but very well maintained and very well located in the center of all activities. Staying at this hotel turns this city into a walking city because of its unique location. By staying here, you could practically walk to any of the shopping districts, shopping malls, sightseeing places, etc without having to ever get into a taxi. Many of the fine food establishments are also within the near proximity. Airport is conveniently located within half hour and easily reached by taxi. The hotel is situated across from the river offering breath-taking views of the river. If one is interested in cruising the river, those cruises also start two to three minute walk from the hotel. Riverfront is well maintained and offers variety of facilities for walking and for sports. The hotel stay is made most enjoyable by the staff which is truly dedicated to serve. In the beginning one might find the staff to be a bit rigid and stickler for the rules and not quite accommodating or empowered but if one stayed longer and came to know this staff more closely, one would be surprised by their well-meaning aptitude and attitude. They are warm and friendly and willing to go any distance in order to make sure of your comfort and of your needs. We personally had such delightful experience with several of the staff members. Although it is difficult to name them all, nonetheless we would like to recognize at least the few who were simply exceptional in their attitudes and in their kindness to assure us of the best stay at the hotel. We are at complete loss to be able to describe the efficiency and superb service that Ms. Le Thi Bich Giang, the Manager at the Executive Lounge has brought to the lounge operation. Under her care and watch the lounge operates so that the guests can never have any complaints because service from her staff is the best, food quality is outstanding, food never run out, and most importantly she is always available for the guests to answer any questions or to respond to any of their needs. Ms. Giang is a star performer to put it simply. Equally impressive in her attitude and zeal to serve is Ms. Phan Chau Ngoc Anh, a Guest Relations staff again in the Executive Lounge, ever smiling and always willing to provide service above self and beyond all expectations and imagination. She was always most pleasant and never once expressed any displeasure at any of our most difficult demands. She always came through for all of our requests for lounge services or for check out from the hotel from the lounge itself. She is very personable and very likable person. We are so happy that we met her. The introduction to best service always begins at the front desk. If one is lucky enough to meet Ms. Vuong Linh, one should consider himself or herself lucky because she will not only give you a welcome that you will always treasure but she will continue to treat you like a special guest all through your stay…..with the most pleasant personality, always happy and smiling, and above all always willing to help you with all your details about your stay. She is a true ambassador of the management and reflection of great service at this hotel. And if you lose something or leave anything in the taxi, Mr. Khang is your man, no matter what hour of the day it is. First time we checked in, it was well after midnight when Mr. Khang was on duty and of course that is when we realized we had left cell phone in the cab. After providing him with details, Mr. Khang must have worked all night but before dawn he sent us the good news that the phone was found and was being delivered. A true testament of dedication and unparalleled service and most importantly without even seeking any recognition or accolades. This man’s quality can only be described by his actions and not by any words. Thank you Mr. Khang. For dining delight one must seek out the Restaurant Managers Mr. Son Na and Ms. Thao. One will be amazed at their constant interaction with the guests and personally making sure that every guest that dines in the restaurant has his or her wish fulfilled with care and best of service. Meeting these two individual at different times and different days, we found that their only mission was to provide immaculate and impeccable dining experience to their guests beginning with warm reception at the door, multitude of food offerings, best serving staff, and above all one to one attention from the manger himself and herself. We always looked forward to seeing either one of them each morning because they made the best beginnings for our day. The General Manager Mr. Blair Fowler is always around and very easy to approach. He deserves lot of compliments for the service and for the best attitude from the staff throughout the hotel. We would be very grateful if our humble gratitude is passed on to the staff mentioned here.

We stayed 3 nights here. Noise: unfortunately struck a company conference dinner with music etc. on level 5. The atrium is open from level 5 to the top and hence music people noise carries very loudly to all the rooms. Food: had the buffet dinner with 1 glass wine thrown in (I couldn't drink my merlot) The cost at $us61probably is very cheap to those who love fish and meat but for a vegetarian not. The breakfast is great except that you have to pass the smell of fish and meat to get to the pastries, one small point I know. Staff: amazingly helpful, nothing a problem. Interestingly, a cappuccino cost me 127,000 dong expensive in our dollars. I would have rated this hotel at excellent except for the noise which happened on one of the three nights.

Very courteous staff. The Skyview Lounge is phenomenal. I relax after work daily. My needs are anticipated and I feel very well taken care of. I receive a personal touch that helps me learn the language from Kha. Good suggestions on local sites. Vy is all smiles and local ambiance. The concierge has assisted me with local Maps, access to banking needs, and transportation. Renaissance is my home away from home in Saigon.

Arrived late evening on a Saturday after a long flight from Sydney. Simply wanted a beer and a bar snack... both were good but made even better by the wonderful and friendly service from Ms Diem. She achieved the balance of being efficient, unobtrusive but also genuinely interested- just what you need in a hotel bar

The elevator was in repair and sometimes I spend more then 5 minutes waiting Beside that everything was great, service, the food de bed was amazing. I recommend this place The location its very good also

If you're travelling around, this hotel is good overall, however I was ticked off. The gym is clean and comfortable to use. This I have done in the past. The bar and pool on the top floor is relaxing and the ground floor front desk is modern. As a person who works on varying schedules in a safety sensitive role, I rely on this hotel group to be consistent. I checked in during the evening and I was scheduled to be out in the early morning. I was dissatisfied with the room I was given and hate to have to write a review as such, but I am lost for words. I was placed under the kitchen of the lounge which is on level 18. If you get a room on level 17, make sure you ask if it is under the kitchen of the lounge. If it is, you'll be kept awake past 12:30am with banging and up at 5:15 to 5:30 am again. How can a hotel utilise an area for a paying hotel guest, under the kitchen, when so much noise is produce? I've never complained loudly in regards to one of the Marriott hotel chain groups, but this is beyond a joke... and yes, I had to notify the staff. They did a good job to try and keep me calm and satisfied. This is a message to top management. Stop being so cheap regarding economies of scale. Spend some money on sound insulation! As a platinum member for a substantial time, I've been exposed to many hotels within this group. This is by far the worst experience I've come across. Along with some other issues I won't exhaust you with here. Overall, this hotel is average for its cost. If you want better values, look toward other hotels. I would like to suggest a few, but I'll leave it up to you. Sorry for the bad review. However it is what it is.

We had a 3 night stay at this property for our last stop on our recent 2 week vacation through Cambodia and Vietnam. The hotel location is very good being by the riverside in downtown area. Access to major tourist sites such as the Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Post Office are all a short cab ride away. Walking to these sites is doable but a challenge under the intense heat and humidity. The famous Ben Thanh market is also not too far away. The hotel lobby is pretty modern but the room we got was a bit outdated with many of the controls remained from the 90's. The bed was very comfortable though. Lounge hours are great for either breakfast or evening cocktail hours but probably can expand the lounge room size as it does get very crowded during peak times. Overall, it was a decent stay for us in HCMC.
