Well located hotel in walking distance to most attractions, many restaurants & shops. There are plenty of mini-marts around for your water, beers & snacks. Small, but functional, pool on the rooftop with good views towards the pedestrian walk & river. Stayed in a Deluxe City View room. Room was on the smaller side, but had a small balcony (be it very hot due to AC unit located here) & the room served its purpose of sleeping! High bath with shower over it made it hard if you have any mobility issues (although shower over bath seemed to be the norm in Vietnam). All our tour group also had the same issues of the shower spraying/leaking over the towels etc.
You cannot find a better location..right in the center of the lovely city of Ho Chi Minh. Rooms are basic and dated...needs a complete overhaul.Toilet does not even have a health faucet.Breakfast is extensive but closes at 9 am.Staff are pleasant and hospitable.Overall if the hotel gets a facelift would have given it a 5.Hope the Hotel Management goes for a facelift.
My wife and I booked two Swedish massages here after they advertised a 20% discount outside the hotel. The massages were okay, except for my wife's masseur making calls and texting on his mobile while completing her massage, in addition to other phones constantly ringing outside the massage rooms. When finished, we returned to the spa reception area. The two massages cost 1,070,000 don't which was fine. We paid in cash and were then subjected to a firm request from the reception lady to tip the masseurs 200,000 dong each. When we asked why, the manager magically appeared and we were then subjected to serious stares from her, the reception lady and the two masseurs. We were told that we must tip. We gave them 200,000 dong (100,000 dong for each masseur) and walked out. We are regular travellers to Ho Chi Minh and had the same massages at the Temple Tree yesterday for less cost and no pressure to tip. Will never go to the Soi Spa at the Palace Hotel (56-66 Nguyen Hue) again. Disgusting treatment.
I stayed here for a single night before a Mekong Delta tour. The hotel is right in the walking street so it’s right in the middle of the action. Tons of food options nearby or just people watch to your hearts content. The room I stayed in though clean was a little dated. The furniture looked like it had seen better days and the public areas (hallways) also looked the same way. It certainly isn’t the 4 star type of hotel you’d be used to in North America. The bed however was great, linens and towels were clean and floors were clean. Most hotels I’ve seen in Asia are tile so it’s easy to maintain and not sticky or gross like you’d get with a carpeted floor. Essentials were provided (soap, shampoo, shower cap, comb, etc). Breakfast was included and had quite a good spread compared to the usual continents breakfast you get in North America. It included Asian fare such as noodles, rice, stir fry vegetables, etc) as well as Western fare such as breads/pastries, cereal, fruit, eggs made to order and a selection of juices, teas and coffee. While the food wasn’t necessarily fantastic, it was definitely edible and a big selection meant you could try something else if you didn’t like what you got. WiFi was decent at this hotel. Good enough for streaming video (YouTube) but it blazing fast. Staff were alright but not super friendly in any way compared to the other hotel I stayed at in HCMC after my Mekong tour. This hotel is worth a look if you want something super convenient and a good price. However there are hotels literally everywhere in District 1 to suit your budget and needs. Not sure if I’d come back here again as I had a better experience elsewhere. In such a competitive area for hotels, service and the condition of the rooms are the difference makers.
I stayed there for 3 days. The location, food, cleanliness and service are acceptable. However my friend and I felt annoyed with the bath. When bathing, the water leaked out and made the floor soaked with water, slippery n dangerous. The wall socket for the kettle is 3legs, rectangular shape but the connector of the kettle is 2legs. How come?
the only good point of this hotl is it has good locacion in the Nguyen Hue walking Street, but too noisy, no parking allowed over 5'. Rooms are old and not clean, I did not eat here so no idea about food.
Reasonably clean and comfortable, but noisy hotel (related to busy party street). Good breakfast, easy going staff. If it's a four star hotel, it must be a 10 star scale, though. Centrally located, easy walk to Central Post Office and other highlights.
We were brought here for a lunch time meal whilst on a tour of the city . There was plenty of choice and some entertainment singing and dancing whilst we were eating good choice of sweets too . We would definitely call again.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch in this restaurant while on a day trip to the city. Food freshly prepared and delicious and for a central hotel very reasonable prices too. Would recommend this if visiting the city.
I stayed for 5 nights here and it was a lovely experience. The room itself was clean and had a beautiful view of the main road. The staff were friendly, energetic and helpful. Check in time was around 2pm but the staff allowed us to check in at around 8am without further fees. The breakfast buffet catered plenty of food and a variety of options; fruit, pastries, cold and cooked meats, dairy products etc. The location is ideal but the main road was loud at night. It was a little loud due to being on a main road and being around News Years time. It really makes me wonder why there are such negative reviews due to my stay here being brilliant. Will definitely bring coming back here upon my next visit to HCMC.
