Super nice staff, Typical breakfast, basic rooms with 1990's wall paper. Did I mention the staff was super nice? Well, they are. Just plan on a clean (out dated) room and you'll be perfectly happy. There's a macaroni grill next door.
We were just here for one night to meet a group of folks. Very clean and accommodating staff. The beds were very comfortable and the room was quite even though were were on the highway side. They offer free breakfast but we did not take advantage. Were had breakfast plans.
First night of vacation - hotel lobby nice, upstairs the hotel is showing its age a bit. Our room was pleasant, bed was comfy - no views if that's what you're looking for. Shower curtain rod was broken, pillows were ok. Breakfast not the worst had eggs and some underdone sausage patties, oatmeal was yummy and so was coffee. Free internet in rooms and lobby and a computer in the lobby to use with printer was very convenient - overall it served our purpose and was located close to the Harley Davidson dealership which was what we needed as we were renting a bike for our holiday.
This is an older hotel but is nicely maintained. We had plenty of space in our room and I found the bed to be very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The AC worked really well, all was clean and we slept well. Breakfast was pretty much as expected for the brand. I just opted for hot oatmeal which I always appreciate having. The J&S cafeteria next door is well priced and the food is good. Home made and tasty. Having the cafeteria near this hotel made for a comfortable stay.
Just off I-40. The Fairfield is bounded by a Convention Center, on the right, a cafeteria, on the left, and a Carrabbas literally out the front door. An Outback is also just down the road and within walking distance. The restaurants are very popular and there are lines during rush times. We like this location, as well as the Courtyard next door, because there is the flexibility to drive west to Asheville, or north to Blowing Rock, within an hour. A great gateway to the NC mountains. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
We've been road tripping the past 25 days with my mom and my two kids and have stayed in about 17 or so hotels, with about 30% being this chain. I wish we'd have stayed at the Hampton Inn next door. We got in real late after midnight. The whole 3rd floor had a strong sense of body odor it was really gross. Then when we came down to the lobby there was another very strong, stomach turning smell and I don't know what it was since the hotel looked clean and breakfast had long been over and cleaned up. The room was ok, clean, but somehow in all our hotel stays this trip we've always booked queen or king rooms and somehow this one was two full beds, difficult for 4 of us to share (toddler has pop up travel tent). It was probably our mistake but didn't help the situation any. The whole place could use some fresh paint. We slept in with a late checkout and missed breakfast so I can't review on that, but usually they're good at FI&S. When we checked out there was a weird issue and the girl admitted she made a mistake, it just took awhile to fix it. Eh. Not the best stay. But we've stayed in this chain just fine before so I'm sure we will again, just not this one.
(Re-posting this because I failed to properly rate service, value and rooms at the bottom) I have stayed at this hotel twice and I will stay again. The Marriott Fairfield Inn is the more reasonably-priced cousin of the Courtyard by Marriott, which I also like. Generally, the rooms at the Fairfield are just as nice, they provide a free breakfast, and it's a little cheaper. This location does not disappoint. It is clean, has nice rooms with refrigerators and microwaves (at least mine did), reliable WiFi and a decent breakfast. My daughter and I liked the extra touches, like complimentary apples, bananas and yogurt available 24X7, and a continuous supply of lemon-infused ice water in the lobby area. We made good use of these. I also requested, and received, a late check-out (2 pm). The front desk staff were all friendly, polite and wished each guest safe travels as they departed. The hotel is conveniently located right off of I-40, along with several other hotels and restaurants, and is close to shopping and other attractions in the beautiful city of Hickory.
This restaurant is right next to the Convention Center and several other hotels, but for the price, it's a good value: Clean, convenient and restaurants nearby. (We ate at Carrabbas's which is right across the parking lot from The Fairfield.) The complementary breakfast was just fine as was the indoor pool. We were on a week long road trip with our family and would recommend this hotel highly.
We spent four days for a conference at Fairfield Inn and Suites and thought our stay was excellent. For a conference the location couldn't have been better, steps away from the Hickory Metro Center. The rooms and beds are comfortable and well maintained. Wi-Fi is fast and stable. Breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold items. We enjoyed it. Restaurants are moments away. Every staff member we spoke with was friendly and professional. We were on the 3rd floor and it was quiet.
Picked this hotel because it was walking distance to the convention center and to a couple of restaurants. You just climb some stairs at the side of the hotel and you will find yourself in the convention center parking lot. J&S Cafeteria is right next door. So is Carrabba's, which was unfortunately not open for lunch during the week. If you walk up the hill behind the hotel, you will come to a main drag (US 70 SE) where there is a small mall and some other restaurants, including Chipotle and Ruby Tuesday. Had we felt like driving around, there were other restaurants nearby. The hotel was well kept, and the staff was pleasant. Typical hotel breakfast with plenty of options. The room was fine except for the in-room refrigerator, which seemed to sense when I had fallen asleep and would then begin running noisily. Other than that annoyance, the floor itself was quiet.
