Creta Beach Hotel & Bungalows4.0 out of 5.0

Most hotel accommodations are small, private, well kept "bungalows" with an easy walk to a spectacular beach. Breakfast and dinner are included and one night includes more elegant dining by the large salt water pool, also with an ocean view. One night of traditional Cretan folk dancing complete with a bouzouki band was also included that took place in the hotel's sunken amphitheater. The central location, just outside of Heraklion, provides for touring east or west by day trip. The airport is close by. The selling point is the friendly staff that speak several languages (English, French, German, maybe more, in addition to native Greek). The concierges (Giannis and Claire), chef, and hotel manager (George Perakis) interact with the patrons on a regular basis. The concierges spent a lot of time with us arranging our day trips just the way we wanted with a personal taxi driver. The chef was a tremendous help with my husband's dietary restrictions. The manager greeted the patrons each night on their way to dinner. We were sorry to leave all the personal attention for the big city (Athens).
Very family friendly, breakfast and dinner included, family style dinner 2 nights, excellent fine dining restaurant one night, beautiful beach, extremely helpful concierge which made out trip, good value, satisfactory rooom, very friendly staff with ample activities
I was very concerned prior to travelling due to a few negative comments on reviews but i can honestly say that my concerns vanished once we arrived and Giannis was there to greet us. Throughout our stay everyone was friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in a standard garden Bungalow and one for my mother also. They were spacious, clean and close to the Beach and main facilities, This was ideal for my mother who is 83. The gardens , environment and general areas were kept clean and tidy. The beach area was clean in front of the hotel and easily accessible. The Maitre'd amazed me how he was present at all mealtimes always ensuring everything ran smoothly and getting to know all his guests. The food was excellent , a wide selection and how anyone can comment negatively i don't know. The main entertainment was focused on french speaking guests but there were members of the animation team that would translate to english and i believe there may be some change next year. We returned to England and for once my mum didnt complain about anything. That is a miracle in itself !!
The resort itself is fine, a beautiful spot just a couple of miles from Heraklion, the sea is glorious, the bar well appointed, the facilities clean and ideal. But what really made our stay was the staff. They couldn't do enough to help, from the cleaners to the bar staff to the porters and masseuses. I felt genuinely sorry to say goodbye to many of them, they are a credit to a wonderful island.
We had a WONDERFUL stay at the Creta Beach Bungalows! Our bungalow was well maintained if a tad old. The bed wasn't the best but the location, right on the beautiful beach made up for that in spades! The staff here was amazing! So friendly and incredibly helpful! They really made you feel as if you were staying with family! Fei and the other ladies at the front desk helped us through a ferry crisis and went above and beyond every time we asked for anything. The food was good. The restaurant host and staff were welcoming and sweet. Pan and Mario at the bar were SO fun! We enjoyed them the most and loved our time learning about Cretan people and the Germans and Russians that seemed to be the largest number of tourists at the resort. We had a fantastic stay!
Having stayed at many hotels abroad, some being 5 star, I have never found one that I would describe as 'Perfect' - well, this one is!!!!!! From the staff, to the food and the layout of the complex, everything has been thought about here. The place runs like clockwork to ensure your stay is truly relaxing. I could not find fault and can only describe this place as s true little gem. The staff are second to none, friendly, extremely helpful, welcoming and really do go out of their way to a high standard. They are wonderful people and really do a fantastic job. Thank you guys (and girls) - you know I love you all.... Never once during our stay did we struggle to find a bed either around the pool or by the beach.... we were actually able to alternate and use both whenever... you don'd find that in many hotels abroad!! the pool and pool area is very spacious, EXTREMELY CLEAN and very serene.... background music not thumping and guests extremely civil.... Mostly French and German holidaymakers but suited us nicely.... Layout of the complex is beautiful and set over a vast area with chalet style accomodation., all grassed areas manicured and scented flowers. Food - WONDERFUL!!! - I was so impressed with the food as being quite a fussy eater leaves me quite limited when abroad but not at this hotel, I did not struggle once, the food is varied, options at each mealtime were unbelievable and the carveries and Greek food, delicious.... I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, if you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday then this is the place.... If you are looking for egg and chips and loud discos then this is not the place.... I find it hard to believe that there have been any negative comments written about this hotel... I think the people that wrote those reviews must have gone to a different hotel to me. Thank you again everyone at Creta Beach for making our holiday so wonderful and love to everyone at the Reception Desk, you are all amazing! x
We spent a week lying by the large sea water pool, seconds from the clean beach, overlooking the beautiful sea view. Our bungalow apartment was nicely set in the gardens which provided a nice bit of shade, and was very quiet, with no traffic noise or noise after 11pm at night at all. The whole place was spotlessly clean, including the pool. We enjoyed the varied mediteranean style buffet food (in the restaurant and pool side snacks/drinks), wine and beer in the all inclusive deal, and had one "a la carte" meal in the restaurant beside the pool given free of charge, which was really great. The staff were brilliant, the 2 bar staff in the evening were very entertaining and friendly, as were all the reception staff and those in the restaurant. Nothing was too much if we wanted to know anything or had any problems with anything. We went as a couple but it was great for families with young children too. The varied entertainment was geared to the majority French holidaymakers and looked fun though we couldn't understand it enough to enjoy it. It finished about 10.30 at night so it was nice and quiet. Very easy to get into Heraklion and the bus station, if needed. Couldn't fault the whole place or the staff, and we would go back there anytime. It is a small place, so not for those who want a lot of nightlife, but great for anyone wanting a quiet relaxing holiday by the pool or sea or wanting to explore Crete. Excellent all round.
We have been with our 2 year old Boy and had a great stay. located direct at the beach and 15 minutes from the airport, i can recommend the hotel with its friendly stuff to Everyone, especially while traveling with little children.
I really enjoyed our stay here the bungalow was really nice for our needs, and the pool area is very good with a nice bar,we went board only but tried the all inclusive one night,I'm glad I didn't go all inclusive as the food was not very good and not much choice, the entertainment in the evening is an utter joke it is pathetic so be warned.staff are nice though.
Well, I am gonna be totally honest in this review. To start with, I will describe the negatives and finish of with the positives. Had booked three bungalows with dubbel bed for my family. When we checked in we got two bungalows with only single beds. Arriving at the bungalows, there was some trashed lamps and glas around the bungalow. We had booked bungalows with view of the garden. In other words, the second best room they had to offer at the hotell (the best had room with a sea view). According to the pictures of both Hotels.com and TripAdvisor, we though that the rooms would be nice and classy. However, we where very disappointed by the worn out rooms. They should have been renovated roughly 10 years ago to keep their stars (according to my opinion). Now to something more positive, we went to the reception and got nice help from them to change room to one with a bit of sea view (nice service, I must say). To bad that also this room also was worn out, not sound proof (as it says on the hotells webpage and Hotels.com) since we heard everything from the neighbors... and also some insects (ants, spiders etc). I guess what I'm trying to say is that we were disappointed that the hotel was so hyped and got such good reviews, and when we got there it was nothing like the pictures. I hope that the hotell soon will renovate or that both Hotels.com and the hotels webpage changes their pictures and information since they aren't correct. If you do go to this hotell, I suggest you sit outside for breakfast (lovely view of the beach) where you can get the morning sun in your face while sipping on a coffee. Also, very nice that you can park your car right outside your bungalow! A big plus for that! All in all, I would not go back. I think its false to say one thing when booking and then when you get there it's not true. However, if you do go there - have a lower expectation and you will probably be glad.
