This Hotel is fantastic, close to all amenities and the City walls and Town. The Reception staff are so welcoming and helpful along with the cleaners and Restaurant staff. The manager is always on hand to help with anything he can, nothing is too much trouble for him and when do you see the manager rolling up his sleeves and helping out, well this manager does we were very impressed. We cannot rate this hotel enough. Without a doubt the best Hotel we have stopped in.
Has one of the most kind and gentle staff in the city. They are always present for your impeccable service. Also they take initiatives to make your day better, e.g. to promote you to a better view room with no extra cost, if there is such availability (it's personal experience). Breakfast at 5th level, provides an amazing wide view to the harbor and city, since the breakfast itself is very very rich. Konstantinos
We stayed here twice. Prebooked before our arrival for a couple of nights and another two nights on our return from travelling around Crete. It was very clean and comfortable and breakfast in the top floor restaurant was good with a changing variety of choice. the only negative I have is that they tried to chage me twice. I had booked through Hotels.com but the hotel said they had not been paid. They took the payment again. On returning home I found my card had been debited correctly at the time of booking and so far a second payment has not appeared. the second time we paid with cash. One plus is that if you have a car there is free parking available in the Lidle car park which is really a good deal for Heraklion . Apart from the payment glitch the hotel was very good.
The Castello City Hotel is a great hotel in the heart of Heraklion, close to the bus station for those that want to explore other areas of Crete. A Taxi station is opposite the hotel. The hotel is of very good standard, very clean, extremely friendly and helpful multilingual staff, opulent greek, continental & english breakfast ... nice dinner menu. The highlight of the hotel is the roof terrace with bar/restaurant and a great view over the city. A great place to stay during a Heraklion visit if you don't mind the vibe of a busy city including noise in the street during the night.
What a fabulous place to stay in Heraklion. Right in the city with easy walking to all the main attractions. Plenty to see in the City and surrounding areas. We arrived on an early flight and as our room was not ready, were given a very very enjoyable complimentary breakfast. Plenty of choice, beautiful setting overlooking the harbour. Our room with a balcony also overlook the harbour. Early morning departure meant an early morning breakfast served in the sitting room near the lobby. The staff are so very friendly and make you feel so very welcome. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Crete and it is so very very reasonably priced. Very close to the airport. We were looking for the Military Museum, which we found had closed, but instead visisted the Crete Museum. We were so fortunate that the Curator had a personal collection of relics and information on the Australian Soldiers on Crete during WW2. That was very special to us as that was the reason for our trip to Crete. A visit to the Museum on the harbour front is very highly recommended.
Stayed here for 7 nights with my family. The rooms were spacious and very clean, with a lovely view over Heraklion town/sea. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The 5th floor bar and restaurant was great to have breakfast in every morning. Plenty of food to choose from and an even better view of the town from the balcony. They made our stay very pleasant and would definitely stay again.
Breakfast, with about 40 choices, is served in the beautiful 5th floor cafe, with an amazing view of the ocean. The rooms are very clean, the bathrooms are modern, the beds are very comfortable. The staff is wonderfully helpful and tries very hard to please the guests. The hotel is located in the city of Heraklion and it was very easy to drive to historic sites from its location. The rooms are cute, the only failing is that the floors are a bit beat up, but I think that is because they were not manufactured well. The room colors are "hip." One problem is that the parking lot is two blocks away, it's a real problem when one arrives because you must find street parking on terribly crowded streets and then go into the hotel to get your pass for the parking lot. I also did not like the fact that the sheets are only changed every other day and that when I arrived, the room had been sprayed with a floral scent, I complained and it was never sprayed again. Every time that you enter the lobby, there are food goodies waiting for you, I think that the staff at this hotel is truly trying to provide a lovely accommodation. And eating breakfast, looking at the sea was awfully nice!
Free car parking at a nearby underground car park was a great plus. Our room was great for a family of 4, with a double and two singles for the children. The breakfast buffet was of good quality and choice. We ate in the hotel restaurant on one evening and food was good and we received a 20% discount for being guests - a very nice touch. We needed to print off boarding passes for our return flight and the hotel staff was very helpful, allowing me to use the hotel's computer and printer. My only criticism is the boy racers in the street outside. Not the hotel's fault, but the room could have been better soundproofed. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Heraklion.
Noisy doors everyone slams them cause other wise they can't be closed properly. You can hear the neighbors and the cleaning ladies pooling their trolleys. Plus I have found twice my door room open. buffet was ok but the cream coffee was very, very good. The reception staff very polite.
10min walk to centre, delicious breakfast with some choice changes each day. Love the modern rooms. Balcony peeps at sea but mostly buildings. Parking free at nearby underground car park, 5 min walk. Lifts to rooms.
