We arrived late due to a delayed flight and taxis arranged by the hotel were still waiting for us at the airport when we arrived. At check-in we were warmly greeted with complimentary drinks and local food plus we were given a complimentary drink coupon for the penthouse bar to use during our stay. Andreas Fotakis, the Hotel Manager, was incredibly helpful and actually emailed us before we arrived to welcome us to his hotel and asked if we needed any assistance. This is the first time I have received a personal welcome from a hotel manager (and I travel often) before my arrival. He also made himself available whenever needed. Breakfast is exceptional with local and international offerings and spectacular views plus an espresso machine!. We had two couples and both rooms had twin beds so if you prefer a double bed, request when you book. One son had a single room and he had a double bed, which was lovely. Our rooms were simple, clean and comfortable with a balcony & TV. Located walking distance to the old city, the hotel is an easy bus or taxi ride everywhere in the city. We are so happy we selected the perfect hotel with Cretan hospitality for our family! We look forward to our next visit!
We were in Crete for the second time, and stayed at Castello City Hotel again. The hotel was nice last year, but this time they finish all the restorations in the hotel. Everything is new, fresh and with a nice combination between modern and local. All the rooms have now electronic acces. The bathroom is verry clean and nicely designed. We had a room with city view, at the second floor, with a natural ventilated bathroom. The staff cleaned the room every day. When we had any question, people from the reception have always answered our questions. We liked the hotel in the first place, that's why we decided to come back, but this year was even better, the rooms, the food, the staff, everything was extraordinary. Some info for those who stay here: The hotel is really close to the bus station. For those who want to go to a close beach, you can take the bus 6 for Ammoudara, it's a 8-10 minute drive, or the bus 7 for Amnissos. The city center is close too, you can reach it by foot, or with aniy bus. You have many stores around if you need anything.
This is the second time when we stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. What is changed now (compared to last year) is that the rooms are renovated, looking good and modern; the AC system is new as well, the bathroom is large and well ventilated. Tidy and neat room, so many thanks to the cleaning staff.:) Friendly and welcoming receptionist - overall a pleasant and warm atmosphere. Regarding the breakfast, we enjoyed a variety of products (from fruits to pastry, eggs, yogurt and many other tasty ones). The last benefit that mattered when choosing this hotel was its position - close to the center and bus station. We would like to stay here again when we'll visit Heraklion again.
A newly renovated city hotel with excellent access to the center of the city of Heraklion, new bathrooms, refurbished rooms, easy parking around the hotel, great breakfast with an amazing roof top view from the restaurant. Good value for money. Always the safe choice. I will definitely go back.
Arrived at the hotel for a 3night stay, there were 10 of us. The reception staff on our arrival were welcoming and responsive. Check in was a breeze. We were informed that the hotel only gives one access card per room, which I thought was a little strange. The hotel has had what seems to be a refurbishment, the rooms were cleaned and serviced daily. We received a complimentary drink. Breakfast was included which was wholesome and fresh, the catering stuff could look a little more enthusiastic. On the hole this was a nice place to stay.
We enjoyed our room and the staff at this hotel. They have parking available but each night we were able to find a spot on the street close by. The issue was about the cleanliness of the hotel. The cleaning staff was not up to the task of keeping the place clean. The hallways were dirty and you could see dirt and dust. The beds were made but the room was not cleaned. There were towels we left on the floor that were not replaced and it was obvious that the bathroom had not been cleaned. I would still stay there again but with reduced expectations of cleanliness.
Good hotel with a convenient location; very suitable for a night stay before/after flights. Was a perfect base for us as we were heading down South by bus; the small station is just across the street. The rooms are basic, pleasantly decorated and very clean. The restaurant where the breakfast is served is nice indeed. However, breakfast that morning was just OK. The staff is very helpful and friendly as mentioned previously in many other reviews. My only problem was an annoying sound of running water in our room; not sure if it has to do with pipes or air conditioning. Had to use earplugs at night. Overall, a pleasant experience, especially considering their reasonable room prices.
Staff are excellent, everyone was so welcoming and more than happy togo above and beyond they helped me with tours prior to checking in and helped me change my room after booking a low rate room! Staff spoke excellently in multi languages and made the trip super easy. Breakfast was one of the best included breakfasts i have had. Super staff, super hotel!
My family stayed here for one night before we flew out of Herakilon. I looked at several hotels and ultimately chose this one because of the non-smoking rooms, price and city location. The hotel was perfect! Free private parking, an amazing rooftop bar and restaurant (also where breakfast is served), comfortable basic rooms. The best part is the staff, however. They are totally professional and highly accommodating.
Highly recommended. Very good Quality/price ratio This is a very good hotel, I asked for a top floor room and that was good, a bit of view The restaurant/bar has spettacular view of the sea, the food is good the drinks excellent, the service very good and very pleasant. The bed very comfortable, with the exeption of the pillows excellent bathroom and shower. I stayed only one night to catch the flight the next day, and was very pleased.
