I liked the location of this place, it has a very easy access to all the places in the centre of Helsinki. Breakfast was nice and there was plenty to choose from, nothing too fancy but nothing to complain about either and the staff was really nice and welcoming. The breakfast room was big and therefore also noisy when there was a lot of people. I liked a lot the big windows of the breakfast room. My room was somewhat tiny but recently renovated and I liked the style of it. In the bathroom there was not much space to put down my stuff. And I was travelling alone. There was not too much room around the toilet seat either, so if you are a bigger person, you might find the lack of space a bit uncomfortable. The banging of the doors was very loud and annoying, especially in the night and early morning. But other than that, the room was so quiet! I enjoyed the quietness so much. The only unpleasant thing during my stay was the big confusion at the check in. They had "some serious problems with the cleaning staff" and we had to wait a long time for our rooms. No one knew anything at the front desk and we were just left to stand on the lobby in uncertainty. (I waited for an hour and left and came back later.) After the third time at the front desk desk, I got a room but that was not the kind of room I had booked and paid for beforehand. I was not told that they had changed the room type, I found it out when I entered the room. No one asked if it was okay, no one would apologise, no one explained. I found it very unpleasant but I didn't have enough energy to go back down. And the room was totally fine, it just was not the kind of room I had booked and paid for beforehand. Eventhough the renovation had not been finished yet, you could tell that this is a very good hotel in a good location. And I would definitely recommend it.
“+” - very nice rooms as a general impression - good breakfast – everything you need “-“ - not enough light in the rooms, the light is very dim (especially it is critical in the rooms with black ceilings) - not enough light in the bathroom (it’s not possible to use a small mirror, as only half of the face is illuminated) - the water from the shower goes behind the shower area and the floor almost everywhere is wet after you took a shower - no place to put the hair-dryer when you use it, the edge of the sink is very thin - telephones in the rooms were not working correctly (it was not possible to dial another room number) - in one of the rooms there was an air ionizer standing on the table (at the reception they could not understand what was it, when we came back, it disappeared)😊
Stayed for just one night with my daughter. Great location in the very city centre. Staff at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating at check in as well as check out. Got a newly refurbished room on the top floor. Clean and modern with comfy beds. The view was a bit so so, overlooking the inner yard, although there was no noise from the streets, but surprisingly quiet. There seemed to be some refurbishment going on during our stay, but we weren't disturbed by this at all. Breakfast was good, standard scandinavian. We missed out on the pool and sauna as there was some private event on the first night, and we stayed for breakfast too long in the morning. Would wish for more generous opening hours for the pool. All in all, a nice hotel and would stay again on my next trip to Helsinki.
The staff meant well. BUT, the hotel is under reconstruction. I demanded a new room which I got, but I had to go to the 7th floor on the elevator and take the stairs to the 6th where my room was. Fair enough. BUT, once I took the wrong staircase and got locked! I called them at the reception (luckily I had my phone) and they let me other. Then they apologized and said that they take these things seriously. The next day, I went to the swimming pool early in the morning, without my phone this time, I took ANOTHER wrong exit and ended up locked again! I was shouting help and knocking on the door and thankfully a man came to rescue. Other than that the breakfast was full of hungry groups/ crouds and was not pleased with the variety etc. Really I want to repeat that the staff meant well and the couple of women I met at reception were sweet and caring. But...
Stayed at this hotel back in oktober 2017. The staff was really friendly and the interior had a really nice fancy design. Futhermoore the breakfast was great. I would really recomend this hotel for anyone.
Our room was a Standard Twin which was not renovated. Room condition was really low, I have never seen another room so badly maintained. Also cleaning the room was poorly done. The only good side of the room was the silence. The location of the hotel is also good, close to the city center.
The hotel is not far from the main station, shopping, and an easy amble down to the ferry port area. My room was large and comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities, which seem to be somewhat rare in Scandinavia, were most welcome. Breakfast provided many choices.
Aamulla seuraava selän nitkahdus erikoisen liukkaalla lattialla. Aamiainen maittava, monipuolinen ja riittävä. Jos menet, pyydä remontoitu huone. // Stayed one night in a not renovated room and got dissapointed badly: old and not so clean toilet/bathroom, extraordinary slippery floor on the room and strong air conditioning, which I couldn't adjust. Was too tired to go ask for changing the room, but for 133e/night should have been better. Perfect location, great breakfast. Ask for a renovated room if choose to stay here.
We stayed at the Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti as part of a large conference taking place nearby. I was eager for an authentic Finnish hotel experience, and in this regard the Presidentti did not disappoint. Our room appeared to be one the recently renovated ones on the Midsummer floor. It was just like stepping into an IKEA showroom… in a good way! It was a light and airy corner room with fluffy linens and views of all the surrounding buildings. Housekeeping did an excellent job of tidying and laundry service was fast and accurate. We visited the sauna and pool, which were both enjoyable. The pool seemed to need a touch of maintenance (loose and squeaking stairs to enter/exit.) but were not unsafe. There was renovation going on in the hotel, but aside from detouring around areas in progress, we didn’t experience any negative effects from them. Many attractions, shopping areas, and grocery stores were within walking distance, as well as the bus and train stations. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. There were hot and cold options and plenty of seating for everyone. This is a great location from which to explore Helsinki.
The breakfasts were good. Unfortunately there is only a pop up restaurant with limited hours and menu for dinner. But the hotel is within walking distance of dozens of good restaurants. It is a good place to explore Helsinki from as it is about a 15 minute walk from the main train station and tram stop. I was attending a convention and it was easy to get to the convention center. Great restaurants are all within walking distance. One caveat, the hotel is under renovation. It was not noisy on my floor as it was happening on the first and second floors/
