I stayed at Hotel Rantapuisto for 3 nights & it was perfect. The superior king room had large windows overlooking the woods & sea - worth it for this stunning view alone, especially at sunset. The room itself was huge, as was the bathroom. Everything was modern & tastefully decorated. Buffet breakfast is included and there was a large selection - a window table was reserved for me every morning, which was a very nice gesture. I had dinner at the restaurant one night, the food & ambiance was superb. There's a curved bricked fireplace where you can relax or have a drink before the meal. I had the Salted Whitefish as appetiser & Braised Lamb for main, both were delicious & of generous portions. I also used the sauna, which was included in the room rate. It wasn't as hot as I'm used to, but that suited me so I was able to enjoy it for longer. The sauna also has a private room with sofa chairs for relaxation. The architecture & design is also worth a mention, as the hotel has managed to keep a lot of the original wooden features, modernising it through contemporary furniture. The natural setting is beautiful, with the seashore & walking trails on your doorstep - I could literally go from bed to beach in 60 seconds. There are huge glass windows throughout the hotel which really brings the nature indoors. Hotel Rantapuisto is a large property but its design aesthetic also makes it feel cozy & intimate. I just loved everything about it, one of the finest & best value hotels I've stayed in & I definitely look forward to coming back one day in the summertime.

The hotel is a trip down the memory lane: these kind of institutes existed in the merry 1970's! The place has frozen in time, in a nice way, and architecturally-minded visitors will appreciate the interior. The seaview from the bedrooms is relaxing. On an off-season Friday night the hotel was so empty that I had the ladies' common sauna shift all to myself (5€). My husband had more company from other male guests. I never learnt if it's okay to take your own beer to the sauna, there is no pool bar. The restaurant is lovely, but pricey, and guests are kinda stranded in the isolated hotel. Eastern Helsinki doesnt really offer much nice dinner options. But it is very lovely to finish your dinner with coffee & cognac by the real fireplace! Buffet breakfast is lovely with lots of local specialities.

We did not spend a night at this Hotel, eventhough we were seriously tempted. The hotel features also art exhibitions and we went there a windy evening in January to see an exhibition by the Finnish artist Aini Tolonen, who is also internationally known, and we wanted to end the visit with a dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. The hotel in itself is a wonderful piece of architecture in a fantastic nature setting, and the inside of it is a small marvel of the danish concept: "hygge" mixed with the certain style and taste that is so special Finnish. The reaurant was half empty, due to the time we arrived, but even on the empty tables were candles waiting for the diners. We got a table next to the huge panorama windows that if it had been daytime would offer stunning views of the coastline. The food was absolutely exellent, fresh and newly made: Starter for me was a meatpate with pickled mushrooms, my main dish was a very tender braise of lamb in a dark (plumb ?) sauce. My wife skipped the starter and had Duck Confit in a dark lemonsauce....Both of us skipped desert, as we wanted to keep the "memory" of these great meals for as long as possible .. Very friendly service all around, good atmosphere and wonderful surroundings. We will certainly return...Have already planned their Brunch in the early spring... Based on all this I / we believe that at stay at this hotel would be a great experience.

Booked a superior room for mid-Christmas days accompanied by InsideOut escape room game (same location at the hotel but needs to be booked separately online) afterwards had dinner at the restaurant. LOVED IT!! Friendly staff that will go that extra mile (e.g. Handwritten greetings in the room beforehand, reserved table at the breakfast with a sunrise view) for your stay to make it more enjoyable experience. Room was clean and modern, beds comfortable and a big window with a view towards the ocean. I am saddened only by the fact that so few locals know about this place. With some more targeted advertising this could be the best place in Southern Finland to experience Finland at any time of the year: sunset, sunrise, sea side, nature, sauna and not to mention about the wooden architecture at the hotel itself.

A stay in Hotel Rantapuisto is a trip to the '60s congress hotel. It's build 1963 for a training center of Pohjoismaiden Yhdyspankki bank. The place is designed by Ragnar and Martta Ypyä. The design of the hotel is quite unique. Lots of steps everywhere, so it's not really wheelchair or stroller accessible. It was really inconvenient to move with the stroller. Our room was in 'Sea Wing' and had nice sea views. But it was really hot in the room and we couldn't get it any colder without having the window open. The breakfast was pretty tasty. If you want to see something else than Helsinki city center this could be the place to stay.

Have you ever seen the movie "Shining"? This hotel was like going back to the 60's or 70's. Our room was situated in the "Forest Wing". It was a very long walk from the parking lot. Everything was a little bit dirty and old. Bad pillows, rough bed and cold room. Breakfast was good but didn't save the whole experience. There's lots of nicer hotels than this in Helsinki. -Maria and Christian-

Personally, I loved my overnight stay here! We booked a superior suite with view to the sea. Absolutely breathtaking to wake up to and well worth it. The room seemed a bit dated (furniture), with a horribly bland mattress, and although the bathroom seemed to look nice at first sight (at night), in the morning I saw quite a bit of wear and tear, could do with a little renovation. The design of the hotel itself I loved, all the woodwork and huge glass windows in the walkways and dining area, overal a beautiful relaxing atmosphere. We had dinner there and it was ok. My husband had the steak, which was lovely, and I had the pumpkin risotto, which taste I grew tired off halfway through the meal. But the restaurant was relaxing, looking into the forest area through the huge windows all around. The waiters seemed a bit dry though, not very welcoming ;) Breakfast, however, was a different story. Well worth the extra money as you wont find anything else this close (or cheap) near the hotel. Very elaborate with different types of bread, cereals, hot and cold food and fresh salad. Would come back for breakfast alone! The morning staff seemed much friendlier as well. I would have liked to have some information in the room as well, for example, about the restaurant menu, other amenities that the hotel offers, info on Helsinki itself. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and absolutely loved the surroundings and views.

This was our second stay in hotel Rantapuisto. We were here last summer and were quite pleased, so we returned. This time the experience was even more enjoyable. We had a family celebration for 35 people in Kellariravintola (downstairs). We needed good USB access for our computer for the program, that worked perfectly. We also had ordered a special menu for the guests. The food was fantastic. I mean, truly mouth-watering fantastic. The waiter was very helpful and nice young man, keeping a keen eye on the guests at all times and he fulfilled all our wishes in a heartbeat. The celebration was a success and we were very happy about it. We had a sea view room and this year the cleaning services were up to task. Everything was clean and worked very well. Later in the summer we also spent a week in an apartment. That was also a very enjoyable experience. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast is great, lots of choice for everyone. We ate a couple of dinners as well and loved the food. The surroundings are very calm and green. For dog owners it is an excellent choice, lots of nice paths to walk your dog. Though in a calm area, it also has an easy access to bus and metro. We will return here again, when we happen to travel around Helsinki.

The lunch and dinner were not very good, and there were no selection of coffee. The location of the hotel was nice, but the rooms in the forest wing were old and dated. The rooms in the main building were a lot better!

I have booked this hotel due to its value for money. It is not too close to the city centre, however it's easily reached by public transport. I would not recommend taxi, as we had to pay a small fortune from Helsinki port to the hotel. If you really are not sure about how to get there by public transport, it's with to drop an email and the hotel reception will be happy to give all the information. At the end, it's very straightforward to get there, once you know how! The staff is very good and the rooms big and clean. The breakfast is great too! But the best of the hotel is its location. Beautiful views!!!
