The hotel itself is modern and nice but many details are overlooked -- for example, the sinks and bathtub in our room didn't seem to drain. The staff here is nice but not super competent; we are currently spending four hours in the train station and missing an important meeting because they told us we could get a standing ticket to Shanghai and that simply isn't true. Had we known, we would have taken a car or some other option. Instead we have missed a day of our trip and are spending it waiting around.
Clean, stylish, welcoming, hospitable, wonderful bathrooms, everything in the room were of high quality, wonderful staff who were willing to answer any of our questions, comfortable mattresses (the harder types) and the breakfast was really worth it... the buffet is good enough, need not order a la carte.
Nicely designed hotel (noticeably "inspired" by the Upper House in Hong Kong) and priced very reasonable but the elevator interior was a bit too quirky for me Nice amenities from Aromatherapy Associates Free mini bar (but some cookies and cashews or almonds would have been nice) Surprisingly good breakfast The restaurant offers a very limited menu but their Dongpo Pork set was pretty good for only RMB88 No spa and no pool (such a shame)
Ever detail - customer service, room service, amenities, bathroom, bed - was absolutely superb! What really stood out was the service. Ms. Ge (Amanda?) was very helpful pointing out the bus stops and which bus line to take to get around. She made sure we had a business card with all information to get back to the hotel in case we get lost. Everyday everything was replenished in our room; tea, coffee, soap, towels, etc. and the women cleaning our room were so friendly and courteous. The food we order from room service was delicious!! And priced very well. Location was fantastic - plenty of food, drink, fruit, pharmacy, etc. within a couple of blocks. Close to many transportation options. Taxis are cheap, but we prefer the local bus lines. This was truly the best hotel we have every stayed at in all our travels around the world. Highest recommendation!!!
We stayed in this hotel just for a weekend, the environment and design is extremely nice, the service was almost perfect. Ken, the manager at the restaurant, made the difference, he was always smiling and ready to help anytime we were approaching the restaurant area, or the lobby, close by. Thank you so much Ken and all the other staff!!
Third time to this wonderfully designed hotel with remarkable level cleanliness. Unfortunately staff professionalism and courtesy has gone down since my last visit have gone down. Reception and concierge staff would benefit from being trained on how to welcome guests and hot to keep them happy. Special commendation to Ken, the restaurant manager. He is a good example to show how to give good company to guests. The restaurant staff were all generally very welcoming and knew their job. I am afraid that the rest of the staff that I had contact with seemed unhappy with their jobs. Returning to The East Hotel? Not unless I am assured that my stay will be taken care of better than last time. There's definitely something wrong in management and staffing. You are cutting it too thin with staff and most are stressed. This transfers to a bad experience for a returning guest like me.
We came to visit Hangzhou for few days and stayed in this hotel with my husband and my son of 2 years old. The staff were super helpful and really friendly. We had breakfast every morning there where the buffet had a large choice available. We got a room on the 6th floor where it was really quiet and Amazingly big! The hotel is well situated where you can find supermarket easily. Finding a taxi in that area was not easy but the concierge of the hotel was helping us every time. Si it was really appreciated!!! Again it is a place that I will definitely keep in mind for my next visit in Hangzhou.
Boutique hotel all is good staff atmosphere clean new style super hotel money wise. If u are in town is one of the best hotel here already come here for the last 5 years never disappointed. Breakfast is great style and healthy
Chose this hotel because of ts hilariously blatant copy of another luxury hotel in Hong Kong (will let you figure out which one). Room was a bit stuffy, ventilation didn't seem sufficient. However amenities and room features were nice. Breakfast was OK. Had some sets to choose from but nothing great. Buffet options were alright, was able to leave with a full stomach. Location is quite good, I thought. i was there for leisure and decided to walk everywhere and it was quite easy to get to most places. They have some bikes you can borrow but we did not try. Staff were OK, competent and able to provide appropriate service.
Went to get away from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. Amazing service. Breakfast was good and worth the price. The added touch of turndown with eye mask was great. The hotel rooms are spacious as well.
