Spacious clean room with decent breakfast buffet spread. Check out process was a little longer than I expect as it took staff a while to void the credit card deposit. Comfy bed with comfy pillows. Good for a night stay.
The hotel was very nice it had a very nice grand entrance and plenty of polished marble. The rooms were very quiet and the air conditioning worked very well I recommend going to this hotel in the future.
The Hotel itself is a bit dark & gloomy. It is clearly not geared for westerners. English speaking staff were hard to come by, though, bless their hearts they did try to understand and accommodate any requests. I was pleasantly surprised by my room. It was large and comfortable, with large (long) bathroom. I liked the separate shower, the double sink , the free standing bath tub, and the separate changing room. The bed, and pillows were cozy. There were 2 termastat control zones, which allowed for adjustment to the most comfortable temperature.Amenities were on the skimpy side and mini bar snacks (i.e. tomato flavored pringles, and krill flavored peanuts) were definitely not geared towards western tastes. Breakfast was palatable with a large buffet ( mostly asian dishes), but all other meals, Chinese or western, were ( and I'm being kind) inedible... which is probably why the restaurants were completely empty at 7:00pm. Wifi didn't work well for me, But with some elaborate pantomime I was able to get a cable connect with ethernet.. This Hotel was convenient to my business meetings, the rooms were nice and comfortable, given the region I hadn't expected fluent english speakers, but was surprised with how truly terrible the food was.
I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now, and yes it is a very nice hotel, the beds are comfortable and the shower is one of the best I have used in a Hotel. There is coffee making facilities in the room, toiletries, and you get 2 free bottles of water.the wifi is ok better than some other Chinese Hotels I have stayed in. When I travel to china I love the food I always eat the local food apart from breakfast, my body just cannot eat a Chinese breakfast and this is where I feel the Hotel is letting us foreigners down. The coffee is tepid, the bread is cardboard and the pastries are tasteless, there just is nothing hot to eat unless you can stomach a hot Chinese breakfast which is food I would eat for lunch or dinner. That is why I cannot offer a 5 grade for my review. I now bring my own coffee for the room so I do not need to go down for breakfast.
Stayed here 2 nights for a conf. Although I was on a non smoking floor, one or more guests lit up & the stale smoke stench came through the Aircon vent which made a good night's sleep impossible. The gym is basic but fit my purpose for a morning run on the treadmill.
The hotel is beautiful. Very clean. Room has a large tub in front of a glass window into the room. Great for a couple ( not so great for an auntie with teen niece). Staff very friendly. Wanted to open a bottle of wine in our room, they sent someone up right away with cork screw and ice.
700 roomed hotel with all facilities. Almost all staff don't speak English. Actually None. Not even an English Newspaper at breakfast.!!!. Shows how strong the Chinese economy is!!!. Although very new, dull looking interior design. Breakfast buffet is very good. Didn't have any other meals here. Staff are very good attitude but how to serve without knowing the language.
Two problems with this hotel: Smoke and WiFi. We stayed on a non-smoking floor that was very smoky. On our "non smoking" floor there was a receptacle for guests to put out their cigarettes. During our stay, one of the guests was walking down the hallway smoking and put their cigarette out in the receptacle prior to entering the elevator. The very nice lobby has a smoking bar attached to it with no wall separation. They tried to pump in scent to mask it but that did not work too well. WiFi was free but kept cutting out and was very slow. The breakfast buffet was so-so. If you do not mind the smell of smoke and poor WiFi, the hotel will be fine for you. If this is a problem, take a pass and look somewhere else.
I didn't sleep in this hotel yet but I already had 2 great business dinners there! It is definitely a good place for people doing business. We get private rooms and a dedicated waitress who never ever leaves any of your glasses empty. The food is delicious (I recommend the beef).... I removed 1 star because for a 5 star hotel the waiters at the door must call or at least help call a cab!!! We finished our meeting, we were drink and they were just there at the door busy doing nothing!!! PS: the hotel is in Xiaoheshan which is very far from the city center and closer to the airport...
The hotel was packed with alot of visitors. And took us almost half an hour to check in. The receptionist were terrible as we already booked a non smoking room, but they insisted that we booked the smoking room and forced us to stay at smoking room. When we checked with our company who booked the hotel, it's clearly stated with non-smoking room. This happenned when they don't have enough non-smoking room to accommodate us and forced us to take the smoking room. Like for the neighbouring hotel (holiday inn), they will just give us a free upgrade of non smoking room instead. I don't understand why this 5-star hotel couldn't do it, way worser than 4 star holiday inn. Also, they(new century) promised that they will treat the smell of smoking room. At the end the furniture and beds were full of tobacco smell. This made me sneezing whole night due to the allergy. Buffet breakfast was like world war 3, too many people, insufficient food, the foods were not up to 5 star standard, worse than holiday inn. Overall unpleasant stay, definitely not going back to this hotel. I made a mistake to try you after a few stays at neighbouring holiday inn.
