I stayed five nights. I reserved superior room with Le Goter afternoon tea once. However, I don't think my room was upgraded even I am platinum member. My room number is 617. My friend is not member, her room is 619 which is as same as my room. Moreover, the so-called La Goter afternoon tea is I could enjoy tea time in the executive lounge. Since I am platinum member, I can access to executive lounge any time. Moreover, the check out service is poor. Only one staff worked in the member counter but 3 staff worked in normal reception counter. The waiting time is longer than normal guest. The staff did not do the check out for me initiatively even they knew I had waited more than 15 minutes. The breakfast time is until 10:30am. I tried twice at 10am. Some of foods are packed and returned back to kitchen. No one prepared the fired egg or noodle in their counter. Moreover, I stayed five nights from 13 April to 18 April. I checked in very late on 14 April early morning because of flight delay; but it does not mean they counted me stay 4 nights only. I just wonder whether they calculate my reward points correctly.

A really nice property right across the road from the lake, with very friendly staff - special mention must be made of Ms Aitara Pardo Angueira for her help. Great breakfast buffet and really good value. Highly recommended.

This is my third visit to the Sofitel Westlake (since 2012) and all I can say, is it just gets better. The location is superb, just across from West Lake and gives one the impression of being far from the city. The service is great, the staff friendly and so willing to assist. The hotel was renovated on 2014 and is very up-to-date and charming. I was upgraded which makes my review even more positive. I want to thank all of the staff, from Senior Management to Cleaning staff for making my stay so pleasurable. I would not stay anywhere else in Hangzhou

Great location, friendly staff and extremely convenient. The hotel was really clean, easy to find and check in was easy. Would stay again and would recommend anyone visiting to stay there. Really easy to see the West lake if you are going for travel and tourism.

Have been travelling around China for almost three weeks and this was my first taste of gluten free bread in all that time. The staff were wonderfully helpful and also prepared a lovely grilled salmon dinner totally gluten free. Room was luxurious. Three cheers for the Sofitel.

Just return from a 3 nights stay in Easter. Everything is great with heaps of smiling faces welcome you. Spacious, clean and tidy room. Buffet breakfast full of choices. Location is the best, we only walk to nearby attractions during our stay. Westlake, Hefeng Street, Yintai Department Store all within 15 minutes walk. To my big surprise the hotel management celebrates my birthday by sending me a big and delicious birthday cake. Highly recommended!

We checked into Sofitel Westlake on 25th March 2017 after a 5-hour plane ride. The hotel staff was helpful and I did email them a couple of time after our stay but there is no reply to my emails...disappointing

Hangzhou becomes a famous location for important meetings, e.g. the APAC was here a while ago. The westlake a scenic place which invites to relax. Unfortunately for me it was a rush business trip and the delegation I joined to decided to stay in the Sofitel due to good experiences in previous years. But this is also giving it away as a first point, the hotel starts to age. You can see that it was not newly opened and the wear and tear starts to settle in. Arrived early afternoon which created a pleasent and fast checkin for me as the counter was not too busy. Due to my status I have recieved an update in the room which was nice. A positive point about this hotel, it is not a high rising building, I was on floor 5, I think in total around 7 floors. I joined the lift and went up to my room. I have had to prepare things on my computer and connected straight to the internet, easy to access and very good speed. The room invites too, the usual comfortable Sofitel bed and open bathroom area (see photo) with a huge glass wall to look in. During that time I noticed the first disadvantage, my room was too close to the lift, I could hear constantly the bing of it arriving and it was busy as I was on the business floor including the lounge. I have tried the lounge as well for a coffee. Very nice location with a great view on the lake, see photo. Staff was very fast, friendly and helpful and one of the main selling points for Sofitel for me is the food/drinks, they are of excellent quality. Back to the room, this time had a peek out of the window. The view is the opposite of breathtaking, the residential builing is just 20m away and the building is really ugly (see photo), however, you can learn how Chinese people are cooking as you see it. The hotel is really squeezed in somehow inside. Also had a look at the TV, the usual China setup with endless Chinese channels but also the usual English speaking ones like AXN, HBO, BBC. The bed is great and fullfilled the expectation. But the room door does not fit perfectly into the frame, the light from outside shined in and the room was not really dark. Noise level okay. I also tried the lift by myself and it turned out my card was not working It was fine for the room but not fine for the lift. I went to the counter and the card had to be changed 3 times until I got one that worked. During that time other guests experienced the same issue, it seems to be confirmed that the lift security system does not work well. In general this was the 3rd Sofitel in China where I experienced this problem. Getting up in the morning and ready for the shower. The shower gel is really nice and I always enjoy it. What I did not enjoy, both days the water temperature was not stable at all, I felt like getting a Kneipp treatment, constant changes between hot and cold water. At least the cold water helped to wake up. Breakfast starts at 6:30, I went to the lounge to get it. Again a very personal service, especially right away from the beginning, even a couple of minutes early. Choices are okay for Western style and a la carte order is possible, e.g. omelette. And great and fresh coffee again. Checkout again is always a problem. I do not understand that hotels do not adapt to the situation that a lot people check out in the morning, according to the contract you have to. So many people want to check out and there are only 1-2 employees at the counter dealing with it. Also asking for a fapiao lead to the fact that after it was my turn it still took 15 minutes to complete the procedure, which is far too long. Also went to the restaurant, but just for a drink. The food selection looked nice but the soda water I ordered was completely overpriced. It was a Watson soda which you get in the shop for RMB4, the hotel charged more than 10 times, over 40 RMB for it, this is not reasonable. Generally summary, the hotel gets old and considering a price for way above RMB 1000 a night for a non 1st tier city is far too high. The staff and the food was excellent, which I normally experience in Sofitel. But with all the issues, e.g. shower, lift, appearance, I cannot give more than 3 stars in total, value for money is not given anymore.

We stayed here twice during our recent China trip. The first check in was just one night stay on the day we arrived at late evening. With prior arrangement, managers/staffs of Sofitel had kindly helped me to receive our train tickets from tour operators for us to catch a train first thing in the morning to Tunxi. Great service. Thank you. Check-in/check out twice were smooth and easy. Staffs were polite and helpful. Rooms(We had 2 rooms): Clean eventhough the decor and furnitures looked a bit aged. Breakfast: buffet style breakfast came with our room package. Delicious with a good selection of food. Coffee was aromatic after drinking some mediocre coffee served in our Chinese hotels. We didnot use their facilities at all, as there were plenty to see at Westlake. One could walk, jog, run or cycle at Westlake. What a beautiful lake. This hotel is a stone throw away from Westlake at Xihutiandi area. The underpath entrance to cross the road is just next to the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants from posh to affordable at the area near by. Carrefour supermarket is round the corner. We would stay here again if visiting Hangzhou next time

The Sofitel Hotel West Lake, as the name suggests, is located right next to beautiful West Lake and there are various restaurants and cafes close by. It is also within easy walkable distance to the city shopping centres. Hence the location is extremely convenient. The hotel building itself is a bit old. We had a room on the 4th floor facing the Main Street. The windows were quite old and thin, so you can definitely hear the traffic at night. The room itself was a reasonable size and we found the king bed quite comfortable. The bathroom was a bit old. Another issue we had was the air conditioning in the room. While there appears to be climate control which allows you to set the temperature, in reality, the actual temperature of the room never quite gets to what you want, so we found the room to be quite hot through the night. The hotel offers a good buffet breakfast with lots of choices, both Western and Asian. I particularly appreciated the healthy options offered by the hotel, including Bircher muesli and shots of health juices.
