My wife and I visited Hangzhou to enjoy the spring weather and sights around West Lake. We were impressed by the shared gym, pool, and spa with the JW Marriott next door. We enjoyed breakfast at the executive lounge each morning, and evening drinks (cocktails/wine/beer) along with generous hor d’oeuvres most days. The staff were friendly and helpful. Elaine and July both gave us personalized guidance, including restaurant and shopping recommendations, and specific sights to visit during our trip. The staff also indulged our questions about the area and our curiosities from a western perspective of our observations while Hangzhou. The executive lounge also has a view over the West Lake scenery, behind the bustling cityscape, from the 16th floor. It’s a great place to enjoy a drink while the sun sets.
I have had several short visits to this hotel and every time it has been a great experience. My recent visit was three days ago and I have confirmed their quality in service. The hotel is very close to the West Lake area, where there are many opportunities to spend a very pleasant day. During my first visit, I was greatly helped by the staff as to what I could see there, very helpful. The hotel is also located close to the bus station to the airport. The metro station is also nearby if you want to go around the city or the railway station. Most importantly is the great service I have repeatedly experienced at the hotel. Special thanks go to July at the Executive Lounge who has helped me on many occasions, including helping me to get information for my train ticket to Shanghai on short notice. Also Mr Mao has helped me get my train tickets delivered to the hotel as well with efficiency. Overall the great level of service is reflected in other areas of the hotel.
You may not often see Courtyard Hotel that is next door to Marriott Hotel, but you do get to use the state of art gym in the Marriott building. After many years I am still fond of this hotel when coming to Hangzhou. In summer I often walk around the Grand Canal and do shopping in the malls nearby. In winter I ended up spending more time in the business lounge. Still the well trained staff in the lounge, quality of food and alcohol is getting better! The only place for improvement is to change to a walk in shower instead of shower in a bath tub, which can be a little challenge getting in and out if you are not being careful.
We stayed at the courtyard for 2 weeks and we had breakfast every day and dinner almost everyday. The food is very good and varied. The only downside is that the food is repetitive. Once you eat there twice, you know that you will be eating the same meals every day, but you have a big choice in the buffet. Its is divided in sections: noodles, sushi, salads, pasta, fish, meats, plat du jour and a dessert buffet. The rooms are very clean and comfy, I would have rather gotten a room with a bathtub, but the shower area is large and the water really strong and just the right temperature can be attained in a glimpse. The laundry service is also very professional and the laundry smells divine. The location is just above the metro station, that makes it super easy to go about after work. There are a couple supermarkets on the grounds of the hotel and we could get whatever we needed. The internet is super fast and accessible anywhere on location. Highly recommended.
Having stayed here several times in the past year was surprised to see them do what a lot of hotels do in China turn off the air on so the room in unbearably hot. It seems hotel owners in China try to save on electric bills so be warned if your staying here only choose summer or winter avoid spring and autumn as the rooms are unbearably hot This is a common China problem that used to happen in usually locally run chains but am surprised and disappointed Marriott is doing the same what a shame I will now find a different hotel for me and my office Terrible in their part the room is unbearable and the only solution they give me is open the window ( which is locked) and they don’t even have a spare fan as it’s all given to other guests If so Many guests complaint why don’t they just turn on the air On?
when i stay at Courtyard by Marriott Hangzhou Wulin I feel as warm as my home, and comfortable, warm room The Executive Lounge with professional service and extensive items Comfortable, clean environment so I can rest well Plus, food hygiene, variety of breakfast Let me full of energy, after the full day yesterday's meeting Unfortunately, due to the delay of the meeting When I arrived at Wulin, it was quite late and could not have time to experience more services Look forward to seeing the next time !
The hotel was near city metro - Wulin station by 10 min walk. You may find shopping malls around. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The only problem was a bit of humid inside the room. The air condition didn't work well. Perhaps it was because that the local weather during August was too hot, near 40 C...
I usually stay at the Crowne Plaza nearby, but my last trip (July 2017) the Crowne was badly in need of refurbishment. Rooms were grimy and smokey. A colleague recommended this Courtyard and I had a great stay. Rooms were clean and spacious, location was excellent in the heart of downtown but with easy access to the highways. When the weather is good, the location is in walking distance to Westlake. Check in was efficient, no problems with getting checked in in English. Most importantly, the temperature controls in the room worked properly. I could heat or cool the room to my satisfaction. A bonus when it's snowing and near freezing outside for my entire visit. I did not have a chance to try out any of the hotel services. I'll follow up after my next visit. Definitely recommended for a visit to Hangzhou.
We stayed here two different times within a couple weeks. Very reasonable prices. Rooms were clean and comfortable albeit a little worn. Staff was always very pleasant and very helpful. Location is good. Two metro stations are within walking distance. A nice walk and you are at West Lake. Good breakfast selections at the Momo Cafe. You can avail yourself of the lounge right next door at the JW Marriott along with the pool and workout room. Can definitely recommend.
I stayed her for 29 nights on a long business trip. That is a lot to get stuck in one room in a Hotel and this is where it becomes a challenge for the Hotel to make it more pleasant and create a home away from home. My interaction stared with Peter Pan, the Sales & Marketing Director who did everything possible to ensure that i received a good rate and everything that could be possibly done to make me feel at home. It would not have been possible for me to continue and make a successful trip without Peter and I sincerely thank him. i was upgraded to a suite room which gave me that extra space for a long stay and this made a difference. Everything was take care from arrival to departure and staff ensured that I was looked after well. i always had the attention of staff who spoke very good English and it is a surprise how well the staff was positioned at key interaction points in the hotel which made interactions easy for any non Chinese speaking guest. i had access to Asia Bistro and MoMo so that made the choices and options more and better. House Keeping was definitely of standard and they understood the extra water bottles or whether it was low starch in my shirts.....this is where a hotel goes beyond to know its guests and make it a home away from home. Special mention to an intern Grace Mu at the MoMo Cafe who was a delight. It is difficult to find such a steward who has so much attention to detail and she gets it right the first time. I had to tell her only on the first breakfast what I needed like a cup of warm water with ginger and sone juice and I had to never repeat again for the remaining of my stay. She left a day before i left Hangzhou and even left me a hand written note to say sorry for a service lapse for which she was not even present. We don't find someone like Grace in todays world of hospitality. I would like to request the GM of the Hotel to bring her back once she finishes her internship....she will be a true asset to the Hotel. Special mention to Joy at Asia Bistro who was always there when I came in for dinner and she ensured that i was having the best food and was there to look after me. Special mention to Alex, Andy for going that extra mile to ensure that guests were looked after and I always had their attention through out my stay. This was one of my best stays with Marriott across the world and with people like Peter, Alex, Andy, Grace, Joy.....this i surely the jewel in Hangzhou. I will be back. Thank you for a wonderful stay and hospitality.
