Good hotel in a great location. Very close to the Spinnaker and Dockyard. Staff were all excellent. Room very clean. Good choice at breakfast. Loads of restaurants nearby for other meals. Very cheap parking in the huge Gunwharf car park right by the hotel. Parking in Southsea can be very difficult to find, so we opted to leave the car in the car park and walk, or get taxis if we were going further afield. We used a company recommended by the hotel, they were extremely efficient, reliable and reasonably priced. I originally come from Southsea and know the area well. I don't think I could have picked a better hotel to stay.
This is in a great location and very good value for money. The staff were friendly and professional and our room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We overlooked a bar but when the window was shut you couldn't hear anything. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Just about the best location sited in Gunwhard Quays complex, and exactly what we wanted for our five day break. Room was clean and spacious, and the staff friendly and helpful. We found all we needed at the buffet breakfast each day, and ensured we went down after the business guests had left daily. Food was being replenished constantly, and it is a far better system with a self service aspect rather than having to queue up. Two small points to mention. Firstly there did not seem to be even a basic room directory which would have been helpful as a reminder about check out and breakfast times etc. What you get told on check in, does not necessarily come to mind later! Secondly, although external noise is outside of the hotel's remit, on our last night, and despite having earplugs inserted, we were woken by an incident kicking off outside by Patisserie Valerie at 03:00 am. Gunwharf Quays security men were there but it was half an hour before any police arrived. On raising this issue on departure I was told we should have dialled '0' for the duty receptionist who would have done something about it sooner. Well, if we had a room directory we would have known that. Perhaps the hotel can pass on guest comments to the security people who should have realised they were very outnumbered and needed more backup sooner.
my husband booked in to this hotel for 3 nights. The reception is spacious and also contains a 'great room' where breakfast is taken and contains a very expensive bar. The breakfast was the usual and the bacon as in nearly all hotels was rock hard. Having said that, there was plenty of food. They have tea and coffee machines but as they are in constant use the water doesn't get a chance to get hot enough for a proper cup of tea. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The bed was hard though the room was furnished adequately. The shower was good with plenty of hot water and large towels. Car parking was very difficult. I am disabled and we were given a permit to park outside but as there is a skip taking up 2 spaces and staff cars parked there it was a lottery whether or not you could get a space. This hotel is efficient, the staff friendly and it is what it is. The location however, is excellent as it is in the heart of shops, cafes and restaurants and very close to the magnificent spinnaker tower.
fantastic location for this hotel at Gunwharf Quays with plenty of good restaurants and pubs nearby. Pros Breakfast was excellent, simple check in, plenty of parking Cons Rooms were dated but adequate, wouldn't have liked to have stayed in them for a prolonged stay
Really good location and very accessible for parking and easy to find. Staff very friendly and helpful and reception/restaurant area modern and clean. Big thing that let the hotel down are the rooms, they were clean and tidy but in need of a good revamp, especially the bathroom, also the view from the rooms at the back of the hotel is awful. Breakfast very nice and well stocked with good choice but bar very expensive I thought at night ( 2 Gin and Tonics were £11! ). If you are driving tell the reception staff when you check in as they validate your parking ticket, first 24hrs was free then £2 per day after that.
Stayed here for one night but have stayed here before, the location is great for gun wharf quays. A superb min break or two night visit is great for this hotel, Breakfast is included and really is adequate for requirements, a hot breakfast of bacon egg and scrambled egg, A selection of pastries, toast and cereal is all on on hand. Parking is free in the adjacent multi storey and you get your parking validated at reception. Just great value
This is the second year in a row we have stayed here for a break in Portsmouth. It's got the ideal location and the breakfast was improved (Bacon!) and the dining area. Just a little loud with the other guests doors banging and loud groups returning but you get that anywhere town centre hotels! For the £154 I do find it pricey in comparison to other hotels but it's location is what sells it!
Stayed here for 2 months for business, changed rooms 3 times, but staff was helpful and understanding. Overall a good hotel, quiet on weekdays, busy with families on the weekends. Breakfast was good, however a little boring after staying there for 2 months.
We stayed here for 4 nights on business last week and can thoroughly recommend the hotel. Everything was clean and relatively new and the staff were so helpful without exception. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice. Being at the heart of the Quays development was fabulous - a very safe and spotless pedestrian paradise packed with high end shops and an incredible selection of eateries. All in all a fantastic stay.
