The fact the the hotel covers your parking charge overnight is a real bonus. The room was clean and warm. Overall, 10 out of 10.

Great service at check in, asked if late check out was possible & instantly offered complimentary 1pm check out time which was perfect for us. We were also advised that the hotel was full (it was NYE) so breakfast would be busy the next morning, we were advised we could take breakfast up to our room to eat which was a brilliant idea as there was no where to sit when we came down but happily took our food to our room & made the most of our late check out time. The room was comfortable for one night & on the 3rd floor at the end of the corridor (room 339) was very quiet even on a busy night in the hotel. Car parking was free in the main Gunwharf shopping car park for 24 hrs if you validate your car parking ticket at reception & you can also get a discount in some shops & restaurants when staying at the hotel. We would happily stay here again.

Wayne on reception was so welcoming of us as we arrived late on Christmas Day. He offered a hot drink and sweets to my son - so he was a big hit!

The room was great, with an oblique view of the Spinnaker tower. It was quiet and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were absolutely fantastic, so friendly and attentive, from front of house to the cleaning staff, the breakfast crew, everyone. We would definitely stay again.

Spotlessly clean room, lovely white sheets and very comfortable bed. White fluffy towels and an abundance of hot water. Staff extremely helpful and friendly....and the breakfast was spot on!

Staff were lovely and very helpful when asked for chair to be put in room as there was not one. No table either in room had to sit on bed, not ideal for a disabled person. No water available to buy from bar. Was told vending machine on 2nd floor but due to disability the walk was too far. Room standard was ok. Bathroom dated and sealants on shower etc looked unpleasant. Nice toiletries supplied, no sanitary bags. Bathroom extractor fan did not work leading to drain smells. Air conditioning wasn't working, found out from email from Expedia! Although fan had been placed in room. Room dusty with cobwebs. Corridors could do with wiping down, due to stains. Carpets frayed at edges. A few dogs stayed in hotel, would be better if there was an area (away from main breakfast area) for breakfast. Maybe allocate the opened room for where dogs could go as although a dog owner myself, do not like dogs close by when eating (no matter how lovely they are). Expensive for basic 3 star hotel. I paid over £170 for 1 night, 2 people. Better value, nicer hotels available in Southsea. Overall disappointed with Holiday Inn Express. Only plus was the staff, who obviously worked hard and had good customer interactions.

Room 201 - small bed, uncomfortable mattress, bed moved too easily as it was on wheels. No hot water in the morning; missed breakfast waiting for the hot water to come back on but we couldn't wait for it to come back due to travel plans. Asked for 50% refund by messaging the hotel manager via Expedia but never got a response. Great location but won't be staying there again.

Clean room. Friendly staff. Was able to check in early. Perfect location. Only downside was hot water wasn’t working second day but this wasn’t hotels fault it was due to fire in restaurant opposite.
