The afternoon tea was delightful as were the waiting staff who served us, I booked the tea and spa for my daughters 30th birthday treat, for the 5th September 17, there were supposed to be 8 in our party but nan was in hospital with a heart problem, We were traveling by limousine when I was called by the spa, she rang to tell us your late so you will have to forfeit the length of our treatments,I did not say anything as I didn't want to upset my daughter, We arrived at 12.50 and clearly states on my email that we can arrive from 1.0 clock, So we were not late at all, We all made our way to the spa .... Wow..... What a rude female you have in front desk in the spa, NO happy birthday, NO tour of the facilities, We were welcomed with your late and we are very busy so all your treatment times have been cut... How rude and hostile , because we were not told anything or shown where to go, a few of us left our clothes and bags in the male changing room by mistake, ( please note there was absolutely no one in the pool area ) We had made our way back to the spa and were sitting in the relaxing area, when the member of staff came in and said ... You have left all your belongings in the male changing room can you remove them now please, we were totally gobsmaked at the rudeness, her whole demena was very intimidating, What was her problem, we were all spending a lot of money in the spa, and we were all left feeling that the whole experience was a waste of money, 45.00 for a very quick nail polish, no cream used just rushed rushed rushed, The saving grace for my poor daughter was a wonderful afternoon tea, credit where credit is due both food and waiting staff amazing, The tea deserves 5 stars and the spa 0 stars, There was not even one part of the spa experience that made it either relaxing or memorable, shocking service...
We have just returned from a fabulous 5 days at Balmerlawn Hotel on the occassion of our son's wedding. We were so impressed by everything ,from the wonderful setting with the famous New Forest ponies wandering freely to the forest walks but mostly at the excellence of the hotel. We had a pre wedding BBQ and the food ,wine and ambience was superb with super efficient service. The wedding food was also amazing and even the "bacon butties" later in the evening were top class. The managers on duty,Slavo and Chloe must get special mention but all of the staff were the best that we have witnessed both in Ireland and the U.K. We didn't get around to using the spa but it looked great. The bedroom was clean and spacious and quiet. It is in a great situation for visiting nearby scenic spots. We highly recommend Balmerlawn Hotel and we will most definitely return soon.
Have previously visited the Saltus Spa on several occasions and been made to feel very welcome and also received excellent treatments. Not this time though! Staff member unfriendly and unwelcoming on arrival and could not be bothered with guests. Too busy on her phone to attend to guests needs. There were no keys for the lockers so nowhere to store valuables or belongings safely. Was not happy to cart everything around all day or leave in Spa staff office! Left at lunchtime and will not be returning to Saltus Spa. Thanks to Paul ( Duty Manager) for listening to our concerns and understanding that our planned day of relaxation had been lost.
Booked in for 2 night stay as offered on Trip Advisor. Deal included, two nights, superior room, breakfast and monetary amount towards dinner. The Hotel is well located in New Forest, with lovely views from all aspects. We overlooked the cricket pitch at the front and the forest nearby. Our room was large clean and well appointed. We used the indoor pool and the sauna. There is a heated outdoor pool as well. We booked dinner both nights, the menu was excellent and the food well presented and delicious. We have to praise the staff who were friendly and very well trained. Breakfast was very good with wide range of options available. The only downside we experienced was that the room above us, (we were in room 15) the occupants on both nights were up nearly all night stomping about like the Coldstream guards on a parade ground. I cannot figure for the life of me what they were up too but it made it difficult to sleep. Can't blame the hotel for that.
We had a lovely afternoon tea at Balmer Lawn. The whole experience was great. Very relaxing, they were very organised and they had to be, there must have been over 10 tables all having afternoon tea at the same time. The afternoon tea was very impressive, great selection of sandwiches and cakes, Prosecco to wash it all down. Would definitely do it again !
I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions over the last twenty years or so and have always enjoyed the rooms and restaurants etc. On this occasion I found berrisfords to be of very poor quality and therefore we found elsewhere to ear for the remainder of our stay. The only saving grace were the staff and in all honesty they looked embarrassed at what they served us.
Stopped here for afternoon tea in September at the start of our holidays. Lovely venue and super afternoon tea, served by friendly staff eager to help. Sandwiches ( specially ordered with no cheese and smoked salmon) homemade scones with thick cream and wonderful little hand made cakes, and a box to take home what we couldn't eat!
Where to start ? On arrival, no room to park car because of a wedding which seemed to have taken over whole hotel.. Told I needed to book dinner table in lounge - I did, but was later told I had booked in a different place. Room very basic for price. Bathroom water could have been hotter. At breakfast - a hefty £15pp - was asked several times for my room number and was in danger of being charged twice on check-out. Part of the problem is the quality of English spoken by some of the staff - needs to be improved in my view. Over-priced for what it is.
Balmer Lawn has an excellent team of staff, all staff are polite and nothing is too much trouble. This was our third visit with our dog and we have always found our room exceptionally clean. Some dog friendly hotels simply tolerate them but at the Balmer Lawn they are truly welcomed which goes a long way in making our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Very good choice of excellent food on both restaurant and bar menu. Thank you to all the staff at Balmer Lawn for making it yet another wonderful stay.
My husband and I spent 2 nights at The Balmer Lawn. Its an oldy worldy hotel and the 4 poster room I stayed in reflected this, which I loved. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious. The hotel is set in a beautiful part of the New Forest, which you can walk to from the rear of the hotel. Brockenhurst village is a 15 minute walk away. The staff in this hotel are lovely, friendly, and so very helpful. Breakfast was delicious, as was dinner in their restaurant. I also had the cream tea one afternoon and the scones were amazing. The outdoor pool area was nice, as was the indoor pool. My only gripe was the noise level from other guests, its not the hotels fault or the staff, there are signs up all around about respecting the others guests and being thoughtful re noise levels, but this did not stop some guests letting their small children run up and down the hallway in the middle of the night screaming, or at 6.00a.m, some guests even thought it okay to have a full blown conversation at 2.00a.m in the corridor instead of having it in their room.
