Went with friends after booking through Accor. Check in a little slow as just 1 person on. Rooms good size and very comfy bed. Had meal there on first night which was nice. Very friendly staff especially in bar/restaurant. Used valet parking as was raining and didn’t know best area to park.
I emailed a few days before to ask for early check-in close to Christmas as we had an overnight flight from Australia. The email back said they would request it but couldn’t guarantee. After landing in Auckland at 4.45am, we headed to Hamilton in the rental car & lobbed (bleary-eyed) at the Novotel. The receptionist (Alya?) was fantastic - friendly & checked us in early with an upgrade. Lifesaver! Particulary as we flew in to go to the races. So we caught a few eyes of shut-eye then headed out to reception, where they called a taxi happily for us as we had our car parked up by valet. On return to the hotel, we had a quiet drink in the bar which is a lovely spot before we had a quiet night in. The room was freshly renovated & nicely appointed, even to the point of having USB data points. If anything, the towels needed an upgrade (but that’s being picky). Breakfast the next morning was an extensive spread. Much better than most buffet breakfasts. Staff were great, hotel great location, would definitely recommend. PS there is a lovely riverwalk adjacent to the hotel which is a must-do
So the hotel is nice and the staff were accommodating, now this is it. The food at the restaurant is a total miss. It was slow and poorly thought out menu. The kids spaghetti was just awful tasted like ketchup. The Wife’s steak was over cooked and my salad was hardly dressed. Put simply there are several much much better places directly across the street, trust me as a normally good reviewer that you should make the effort and walk 10 meters across the road.
We make an annual trip to Hamilton and try to stay at Novotel when we can. The breakfast buffet is excellent, the pancakes, croissants and cereals are our favourites. The kids really enjoy their experience at the hotel, mostly due to the breakfast but also the little play area in the dining room while the grown ups are still eating. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean and tidy.
Good reliable hotel in the middle of Hamilton close to the city centre and food establishments. Great friendly check in. Outside hotel car parking quickly fills up with valet or covered car parking in the adjacent Skycity car park ($15/night) the remaining options. Pass out for Skycity car park available from reception which makes things easy. Good clean rooms - no complaints. Breakfast - better than average for hotel buffet breakfast with many options. Overall a very good experience and would stay again.
Novotel Hamilton is central, clean, fresh and provides a great buffet breakfast. Always stay there when in Hamilton. Highly recommend to anyone for business or pleasure and the staff are always helpful and friendly
Centre of town, rooms spacious and staff very helpful. a nice restaurant(we didn't eat there) and a nice bar serving many beers and cocktails,. Around the corner from main street so access to all is close by, including Casino
Staff fine at checkin. Room was nice and lovely new refurbished bathroom. Gym was in a small space and although two treadmills, one bike, one rower, one cross trainer and a selection of weights, would not want anymore than three people in the space at any one time. Spa looked unclean. Bed was comfortable. Towels vey ordinary. Had our car valet parked and had to ask twice for it to be brought to us. Disappointed for a hotel of this calibre.
An Average hotel, a little expensive, a little tired, but nice staff. It's about time this place had either the carpets cleaned or a bit of a re-fit, new pillows would help too! OK it's central location is good!
6 friends were invited to lunch by paying hotel guests .. table booked, almost no one else in the resaturant. Our simple lunch meal took 2 hours .. It was a litiny of errors and the poor waitress apologising! The orders were "lost', screwed up, badly cooked and special requests got lost in translation! The coffee order was completely messed up and then we are told that they no longer supply straws for drinks, because of the policy to save the planet !!.. umm try politely drinking a tall iced coffee with cream and chocolate on top without a straw!
